  I am sure "preiyare " is for Raghini. Patupaadi song is from seetha and it was relased in 1960. I dont think sharadha was a heroine that time. I am sure it is not sharadha. some old actress.

  No Raj! Ragini is the heroine in Bharya and the movie was released in 1962. I think Karpagam is the first movie movie of KRV, may be in 1964.

  Thanks for reading Naaz. The album "thirumaal thiruthalangaL" was released in 1986. I guess it was one of the last compositions of R.Ramanujam.
  
  I requested Kalai to convert this into mp3 and make it available for all to listen.

  After a long... search I could get the song, the telugu equivalent of "Ponnenben siru poovenben" from the movie "Policekaaran magal". The telugu vequivalent is " Poovu vale vira booyavale" from the movie "Police kuthuru", music by Govardhanam and sung by PBS & PS.

  I thought I had talked about this earlier because I've heard this song. I guess I did not. The movie is "Constable koothuru" not Police koothuru. It is a lovely song. I will post the lyrics sometime. Or someone else can do it too.

  As we have the original of Tamil version, we always try to compare unconciously. Word-to-word, it does not match.. But the telugu version is really like a kavidhai. PS romba anubavichu paadi irukkanga... great song indeed.
  
  Kaumudi, what is the equivalent line in telugu for "unai naan ariven enai nee arivai... namai naam arivOm veru yaar arivaar"? :-) One more question Kaumudi... was it a re-make or just dubbing? If re-make who acted in place of Balaji, Muthuraman, Vijayakumari? TIA.

  Pl. find the link for the song "Ada janmaku" which is the tel. version of "Chinnath thAyaval" from the movie "dalapathy". "Ada janmaku" is sung by PS in telugu.

  Excellent song Kalai. Beautiful rendering by the great P.Susheela.
  
  I think Thalapathi was released in 1991. After her husband died on 29-Apr-1990 (in USA), she reduced her songs to very minimum, of course, with the non-cooperation of her throat affected by Thyroid problem.
  
  But, still, those few songs came out after 1990 were also mostly hits. And she showed dedication in each and every work she had done.
  
  In this particular song, I guess her Bhavam is very well portrayed so to make the listener also to feel for the girl (of the movie). At the end of the song, when she repeats the pallavi, there is a romba chinna "visumbal", that gives the fullest effect Kalai...

  The lines "unai naan ariven enai nee arivai... namai naam arivOm veru yaar arivaar" are exactly "maname nijamai manase rujuvai... maname jagamai jagamaelavale" which means "It is true that it is not you and me but it is "us" and my heart is the proof of that. Let us be the world and let us rule the world. Interesting lyrics!
  
  Constable koothuru was not a dubbed version. But was a movie made from scratch. I am not sure which one came first, the telugu version or the thamizh version. I don't remember all the actors but it had Krishnakumari (Shavukaru Janaki's sister) and Nagabhooshanam, I think. Other telugus in the forum can probably help us out.

  Request to all who read this (this has been posted quite a few times earlier)
  
  In "Katriniley varum geetham" film, the heroine Kavitha acted in 3 different characters. The title song "Katrinileyyyyyy varum geetham" was supposedly recorded 3 times sung by 3 different singers (PS, VJ and Sj) for 3 different Kavitha's. IR had mentioned this in his interview with "Anandha vikatan" (one of the issues of 1978). Versions of VJ and Sj are available in net and in cassette but PS version is not traceable. IR mentioned that it was in a different tune singing for the Ghost character...
  
  If anyone come across PS version, please do help me in getting the song in any form. Thanks in advance :-)

  You're welcome. Lyrical quality of the 50s to 70s is something else! If you were so happy knowing the meaning of just two lines, I can't imagine how enthusiastic you would be to know the meaning of the whole song. PS and PBS have sung it beautifully and the same goes with SJ and PBS's thamizh version too.

  Yesterday, before watching Asianet programme, myself and Kali were listening to "Poovu vale vira booyavale" and very much enjoyed the very soothing voice of PBS and PS. When the lines ""maname nijamai manase rujuvai" rolled on, we immediately remembered you only. It was really a treat.
