Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....
Also; use this thread to discuss this album..
Here is what i found::
Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.
Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.
In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.
Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.
For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

Why Shankar hops abroad?
http://www.cinesouth.com/masala/hotnews/23092003-2.shtml

Without lending his ears to the ground for the arguments for his film 'Boys' Director Shankar is too busy with his trips abroad.
What is the real movie behind Shankar's trip abroad immediately after the release of 'Boys'?
While certain members whisper that Shankar has left abroad fearing trouble for his work, it is also reported that the Director has done what is usual to him, this time too.
It's usual to term director Shankar's film a flop during the first week of release. 'Kadhalan', 'Jeans', 'Indian' and 'Mudhalvan' are the films released after the success fo the movie 'Gentlemen' and were termed as flops by cine goers during the inaugural weeks, making it a habit to the director to go abroad with his family or breathing fresh air and avoid the tensions from release results fever. Even though he is doing rounds around the world from London to Malaysia. He also calls up his Chennai office to know the recent reports on the film's performance. The director has felt happy during this trip especially after being informed about the film's good performance at A, B and C centers.
It is informed by his office that he will clarify the queries of the movie after his return from the trip.

in cinesouth the verdict for the boys movie has improved to above average.
it was average for the first week after the problems faced due to vulgarity.
u can really expect boys to be called a hit in the coming few weeks.
i think my earlier posts have be justified and ppl are getting better things to make hue and cry. ex.sandiyar shooting cancelled due to planned attacks etc.

"'Kadhalan', 'Jeans', 'Indian' and 'Mudhalvan' "
Definitely Boys won't be added to the above list. It's a well known flop. We can see theatres showing the movie with empty seats. Is it another marketing gimmick by the cheater oops.. director shankar & co?

Sharad,
I faced the same problem last week but now it looks ok. Could be because of this...
Yahoo website blocked
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/cms.dll/html/uncomp/articleshow?msid=196169
TIMES NEWS NETWORK [MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2003 09:14:05 PM]
NEW DELHI: The department of telecom (DoT) has decided to block a Yahoo website for refusing to comply with a government request to withdraw 'objectionable' news material.
The website (Groups.yahoo.com/groups/kynhun) was blocked because it was "promoting anti-national news and containing material against the government of India and state government of Meghalaya."
The blocking was done on the instructions of Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, (CERT-In), which falls under the department of information technology (DiT), the government said on Monday.
It said that this was the first time that a website was blocked under CERT, since it was formed in July. "The representatives of Yahoo in India were requested to remove the objectionable material from the reference, however they declined to comply with the request," said the statement.

Yes, REAM, You are right. I had purchased a very high quality VCD of BOYS on 10th September itself. But, of course, I had watched the film in the theatre before that. I was surprised when I was waiting for the VCD to be released because it took a very very long time, didn't it? Usually VCDs come about 5 days of the release of a tamil movie. And, also, the excellent print quality makes me think if it could be the pirated version of the original VCD released in countries like Malaysia. (Correct me if the VCDs hadn't been released there by then).
But, believe me, most people would definitely go to the theatre to watch the film especially for the 5.1 + DTS. [most people in India don't own a 5.1 Home Theatre, btw.,]. Its simply terrific!
And, for people who think the movie is going to be a flop, here are my comments:
1). Please do not compare the number of days the film runs in the theatre with that of films like Jeans because of the exponential growth of the VCD piracy industry.
2). Also, the film had been made into 250 prints in TN and AP. This is definitely terrific because THIRUDA THIRUDI had been made only into 76 prints. Even if there is a nominal collection of Rs.3 lakhs per day in each theatre, you can calculate the collection! Also, I believe that not more that 8-10 crores would have been spent for this movie!
Thanks in advance for your comments!

REAM,
Yea, I know that Boys was the first movie in *tamil* (Or maybe in Indian Languages) to be recorded with 5.1. ARR had setup the 5.1 in his studio even before kannathil muttamittal was released but ManiRatnam did not favour the idea as the film scoring had already been completed and he wished to waste no more time before releasing the movie :)
BTW., I also heard that in many theatres, there were advance booking for the first 7 days before the release of the film. Combine these with "generously hiked" prices of the ticket, and add to POINT 2 that I had mentioned above!

And, regarding the link, I think that it would definitely favour the producer! :)
The simple logic is, this news published in papers would tempt most people who did not like to see the movie to see it _AS SOON AS POSSIBLE_!!!
So, can we expect a sudden hike in BOYS collections? :)
