i think "copying" is there for a long time in tamil film history. Here we discuss the tamil songs copied from others.
For a compilation of copied/inspired songs: http://copied.newtfmpage.com

chandy: thanks for your suggestions. Will consider them. Unfortunately, we don't have too much space so we won't be able to post both asal & nagal audios for all songs.

Dear Shysun,
Could you refrain from such heavy duty farting around? It stinks.
You had posted a brilliant message in muthamil forum claiming that kandukonden's 'smayiyai' is inspired from phil collin's (sic!) 'the mother and child reunion'. Please note that this song is by Paul Simon and has absolutely nothing to do with the tamil song! Where in this great world did you get this idea from?
Moreover, could you be a bit more specific about your references? Now NKOTB is a group, they have lots of songs. If olny you could pin point the song by NKOTB which sounds like alaipayuthey's 'endrendrum punnagai'. And more funny is the 'but seriously' part!
But seriously is an album by Phil Collins. Do you mean to say ARR copied the entire album for his indira song 'thoda thoda'? Wow! What a brainless charge!
And yes, like you've asked, I'd love to deny your all caps message! Its a pleasure to stop someone from farting unnecessarily and polluting the air.

folks,
Tfm admin guys kudos!!! cool compilation.
After going through several copied stuff, now I beginning to get scared to listen to our songs. Engay erunthu flick panni podugirargalo endru.
our whole film music has started to become rubbish like our Indian cricket.
by the way, vijay and other folks who are against this another site called muthamil.com. humbly i feel that your "kuttra saatukkal" are bit way over. we cannot be sure that they have purely derived the information from this site. even myself have emailed them couple of "inspired" tunes and sent them some files. Malayalam song copy for ottakathai by ARR was told by me. and I emailed them before posting here.by the look and feel of the site, i think they have more potential resources right inside the film industry.
theiyavu seithu let us not fight among ourselves. yaar senja yennanga? am i right?
so let us not talk bad baout ourselves and let others to overtake us.
ungal pani thodarattum.
(note: i avoided putting smileys here cos smileys and extra punctuation marks created wrong notions when i posted in other thread couple of weeks back..srinath erukkengala? :-)

Bug,
i dot care if they copy the info or not but they should acknowledge the source..newtfmpage. And i didnt say that they copied ALL the songs from newtfmpage.
Srikanth,
iam surprised. sometime back u and RajaG had decided to do it together. why this sudden reversal of decison? perhaps we can discuss it thru mail.
and BTW i dont think u need to be an authority in music to identify most of the copies in TFM. i mean, we can leave out the controversial ones and can just list down those that we feel are obvious copies to u and others. iam not an authority in music but i can easily identify most of deva's copies atleast, since they are pretty obvious.
also wasnt it u that sometime back said that how genuine musicians are deprived of chances in the TFM world and how copycats like deva rule. u even said if i remember right, that u will speak to some freelance journalists and tell them about this list. anyway its your decision. iam not compelling anyone.
and one more thing..credibility matters. atleast people who visit this forum regulalry will know who had compiled that list of copied songs. they know about u, rajaG very well. so i think they instead of believing that some arbitrary song listed in some XYZ site is a copy they would be more willing to beileve the songs compiled by the newtfmpage just because it was done by professionals and just because it is a part of such a professional group like the newtfmpage.
u need not include your name if u feel u would land in trouble.
anywamy more about this perhaps thru mail.

hi vijay,
yenga evalavu serious'aa erukeenga agaisnt that site.thapaga yenna kudaathu...newtfmpage contributors are professionals while non-newtfmpage contributors are non-professionals mathiri erukku unga statement. Please no offense meant to ragaG or srikanth or others. I am in total agreement that they know more about music. but it is not proper to say that only newtfmpage is professional others are not endru.
guys, i am not a PRO for muthamil or any site. just letting my humble suggestions. radha samedha krishna was found about by some guy in that forum. so if you want to put that fact here, can you claim the authority for it?if clinton visits china...everyone knows neither cnn or bbc or etc can claim that they have found it. these kinds of stuff are common property.
so please do not mud sling on others. infact i think if we do that it will create a bad impression on us.
i remember seeing muthamil giving courtesy email link to a guy called karthik in that section as it seems he had contributed many song clips. And I am sure muthamil won't hesitate to give due acknowledgement if it had used newtfmpage.

Bug: idha iththOda vittudalaamEy please!
Vijay was one of the initial champions for rthe crusade against copying and the resulting evils in TFM. To some extent, I believe he is genuinely and justifiably upset that despite no sparing of effort on his part, this project (of identifying and formally designating as copy/inspiration/ etc.) has not gathered momentum as was envisaged by him. Meanwhile, the folks at muthamil have also undertaken a somewhat similar listing exercise. I absolutely agree with you that there is no reason to criticize or accuse such an initiative. I am just trying to explain Vijay's view point, that's all. Anyway end of discussion/digression:-)
Vijay: Here is my candid 2 cents. The newtfmpage admin conveyed to some of us that "a certification by experts" is not necessary and may not be conducive to the basic premise of free participation in the forum. To my side, I did clarify that an experts panel would provide an "ALSO VIEW" not an "ONLY VIEW". However, that being so, RR has already created the required links which, IMO works fine in terms of listing (and even identifying) copies. I guess there are lesser pains if the list is administered by the admin. rather than any experts panel.
For the present, I will be commenting on the listings in the link strictly on a "need to" basis - why mess with something which is working fine. Please don't treat this as an absence of enthusiasm. I am just recommending that we all work within the existing framework of the process.

Listen to the first 2 bars of "Nutcracker March"
http://lonestar.texas.net/~wikholm/clmb/page18.html
I've heard these 2 bars somewhere in IR's "Anjali Anjali Anjali" song.

RajaG,
i just wrote a long post and accidentally deleted it. so this is what in brief that i wanted to convey:
iam OK with the 'also view point' that would be expressed by u and others. but at the same time iam only thinking/concerned about the foll:
1. right now it just looks like a list. in order to make the page more attractive and make it look like a separate site, newtfmpage admin would take care of the design aspects. etc and perhaps u and others should take care of writing the extra comments for each song. instead of just saying copy etc. etc. it would be nice to see more technical comments rom your side. that is what i meant when i said 'professional touch'. i didnt mean to say others sites were not. this was a misunderstood statement by Bug.
2. it is not a bad idea to leave the discussion open to the forum. let everyone come and post their commenst here about the songs. but the need for a 'panel' arises because there can be only one final decision.whether it is a copy or not.
so once u post a song and u dont see anyone commenting on it in this thread for 2 days, then what are u going to do? in that case it becomes necessary for the 'panel' to decide on that song.
aslo on the other extreme if 100 people come and post different opinions here then what happens?
can RR conduct a opinion poll for every song?
thats why i said it would be a great idea to have people like u, srikanth etc. decide on this. its not to say others should be denied an opportunity to express themselves. but let them come and post here. this is similiar to 'songs discussion' thread sometime back. it started with lot of enhthu and then all of a sudden no one posted anything and it went off to the archives.
iam afraid such a thing shouldnt happen here. the existence of a panel would keep things going and would make sure the list is genuine and growing.

final digression: sorry rajaG :-)
vijay,
I am not against anybody over here. I haven't misnderstood your statement. It was really very clearly stating that people would believe tfmpages rating than xyz site has this one has professionl touch. it implied that others are incapable of doing professionally.
Infact i have high regards for persistant DF'ers like you rajaG, Srikanth, MS, Udhaya and others. Neengal eppadi kozhai adi sandai pottathal thaan i was trying to convey my feelings.
Avan kettavan, naal nallavan endru contrast panni solluvathai vida.......Naan nallavan endru solli period vaipathay good. This is my philosophy. Wherever the talent lies it will be given due recognition at any cost. So you need not worry about it.
rajaG, I agree that vijay had so much enthusiasm in getting these ideas out.IMHO, he cannot be the only person to come up with this idea among the millions of people in this world. and morever this is not something which is a newly invented like software or something, it is like giving something which is already existing with a new set of clothes. I think there were such TV programs once in india.
if vijay is right saying that muthamil copied, then the list which he had compiled is not entirely his pure efforts alone, he has derived from other surfer's qouted facts. then doesn't this constitute a "copy"?
Hope my feelings are not mistaken. Since I have been seeing you guys arguing healthly, i belieive you will take my suggestions postively. I was talking in the interests of vijay.
end of digression for good before "bugspray" comes ;-)
By the way, has anyone seen this movie "deep rising", in the starting segments of the movie, they have a cool piano bit which is somewhere lying in bits in one of the tamil song. but can't recollect it. maybe you can try to find out.
