RJay,
Listened to your composition. It sounds good but I'd suggest you not to use loops too much. A person with good ear can easily identify the breaks between 2 loops. This is my humble opinion.
Aditya,
Ragtime is rhythm characterized by strong syncopation in the melody with a regularly accented accompaniment.
syncopation is kind of playing in which the weak beat (2 & 4) is accented. Scott Joplin is the founder of Ragtime. He mixed western classical marches and african syncopated rhythms and it was real successful.
BTW, Blues and Jazz (partly) are improvisations of Ragtime.
The sound module I bought is Roland JV1010 It is cool. yeah piano panning is good. In my acoustic piano, bass strings cross the middle of the piano and so bass sound is not heard at the extreme left.
Swamiji,
Sure, I'll play some of my compositions in Acoustic Piano. I got my piano tuned 2 days back. This is just a reminder. If you haven't tuned your piano yet, do it now :)

Guys, my next score is online
http://www.mp3.com/jsri
Forlorn
The imaginary subject in the score is a Lonely Bird. She is missing her companion. It is already past dusk he is yet to come back. She is perched on a branch, her sweet home. Her anxious eyes keeps looking for him as far she could see. Her mood seems to be composed in the beginning, but slowly she starts to nervous and fears crops into her, her feelings become emotional, her mind boggles. She starts to worry about unpleasant events! However at the same time she tries to console herself. She tries to remember good time she had with him. This mental agony goes on for a while. Sun hides its bright face beneath the western sky, she becomes tired and falls asleep waiting for her companion! Studio1234 presents the Lonely Bird By Srikanth. This score was composed and recorded in Seattle, WA Digitally mixed at Studio1234, Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Fabulous Score. The mood is well captured. I sincerely wish this score gets reviewed to the complete extent. Within the scope of my understanding...I will try to initiate the review...
Performances are Excellent. Srikanth's playing is Superior.
- Raga selection has spanned the emotion and did complete justice - Sindhubhairavi.
- Classical Guitar played in Spanish Style - Marvellous. I loved it.
- Style/Rhythm Pattern change at 3:00 and flute picks up with it's mesmerizing phrases is hair raising.
- Chord Progression is so well done. I think srikanth used Sine Pads, Cellos/Violas/Strings which is great.
- Ga Ma Pa ( twice ) at 2:15 followed by tranquil flute phrase and then bell/harp kind of sound...cool...
- The way tabla joins in the music at 3:00 is fabulous.
- Very well orchestrated. I think it's well qualified to get into some Dance Balley.
- Wonderful Recording.
Sukhi Bhava...
Sound Aficianados, Composers, players, arrangers and listeners...it's your turn to come up with a review. I loved this score.
Regards,
Aditya

Hey guys,
do you know of anyone who writes lyrics in Hindi. I don't want filmi kind of lines, I'm looking for someone who can pen simple and deep lines. This is for a Hindi-pop album that I'm working on right now. If there is someone out there who's genuinely talented and interested, I'd like to form a collaboration. I guess I'm a bit stupid for posting this on a Tamil Film Music Page, but I don't know of any Non-Filmi Hindi Music Page which has creative people visiting it. Any inputs will be appreciated.
BTW, guys, I've started work on a new project which is to compose the title song for a TV serial to be produced by K.Balachandar. The serial is going to be aligned on the "Chiththi" time slot on Jaya TV. I met with K.B at his residence about 2 weeks ago and presented him with 3 options that my friend Raj and I had worked up. He liked one of them and we've finalised on that. Right now, working on the arrangement and developing the song to completion. The lyricist is this guy called Dr. Kridhaya who's written a couple of songs for "Thulli Thirindha Kaalam" and a few other movies. Met with him yesterday to fine tune lyrics and meter. When I met with K.B, he gave me a sneak preview of three songs from his upcoming "Paarthaley Paravasam" from ARR's scratch tapes. The song chosen by K.B is melody based (major scale) and has a lot of folk influences. Wanted to keep the tune simple so that it would appeal to kids and adults alike. We may be recording it sometime later this week. Will give you guys a preview as soon as possible.
Warmest Regards,
If any of you wants to respond to my query about Hindi lyricists, I would appreciate it if you could mail me at trv@md3.vsnl.net.in as I may not be checking this site frequently

Hi sri
What a beautiful melody peice.
your song also proves a point.
As common music listener i am not concerned about which combo the composer used or chord structuer he/she has used.To me and to all other ordinary listners as long as the song sound pleasant and soothing to ears thats all counts.
And your song does convey that feeling very effictively.

Srikanth..
This track sounded different from all your other tracks...the use of
synth in the middle of the song and the silence was good. A nice bass
line at places.
and here comes the "but"...Think i'm getting into the tradition of
giving negative comments for your songs..but all in good spirits.
well, i thought the song does not stick in your mind after its over..
feel that it lacks definition. Also the guitar does not
come into focus at anytime. In general I thought the instruments
does not jam in together.
Again, these are just my opinion and as Aditya proved it to you...
a song cannot sound good to everybody listening.
catch u guys later.
bye.
Jay.

Srikanth, you have understood me very well :) Again in all good intentions only (like Jay says) I have been always critical. It is bad, but it is good at the same time. Makes us want to improve. Constructive criticisms.
I will write to you about my comments in person. Not here.

"synth in the middle" : we call it sandula sindu (here it is synth) paduvadhu :),
In future i am determined to work on a score just to impress Jay :) but I am worried that it might not sound good to some other X, Y and Z:)
Jay, Swamiji and Naveen, thanks for giving candid comments. Any day I appreciate and welcome constructive comments.
Guys btw : I am mixing a live dance drama show, This has few instruments (Tabla, sitar, harmoniyum, violins) with 4 vocals tracks, I will be using my roland digital console along with the compressor/Limiter and a EFX processor for this live show. I am also trying to do this in 5.1. Please wish me luck to do it well.
More Later!...

Folks:
I don't know what u understand about each other:-) but I understood that harmony in this thread is lost.
Jay! please help maintaining the sanctity of this page.
What's going on with u guys! Here we are not anybody's favourites or accomplice. I thought we like to listen each one's efforts...And encourage each other/motivate each other to compose something in future...
Appreciate doesn't mean it's below our dignity or rather Disapproval doesn't mean it's absolute...
Just a note...we are not proving to anybody or rather showing off the Skills! Take it as an experience to listening Music...
Regards,
Aditya

Aditya cool down, - As long as remarks are not personal, unbiassed and are purely a review of the work done, i welcome it.

Well,
If u guys want to say "Good job" and end of story
then why are we all here for??
Then everybody will be releasing songs...and the response will always
be the same. We'll never improve.
Loosing sanctity a far cry from giving a honest opinion about a song.
My comments are nothing personal and Srikanth knows that.
If I meet him in the future I will respect him as a musician...he's
good in his own style.
This thread I thought is for discussing music...lets not
ever think that somebody giving a negative feedback is for
discouraging the artist.
As musicians we all should be aware of that.
This place for me along with a few other friends of mine,
is where I can get a sincere review of a song.
And I dont expect it to be feel-good. You win some, loose some.
This thread will have to take both of them.
Any thoughts??
Jay.

AdityA: ?!?!? chill out man. i thought jay kept to just criticizing the music, not the musician and hence, imo, no harmony is lost. if we publish our work, we should be ready for both praises and brickbat! srikanth is doing really well by taking comments in the right spirit.
srikanth: i listened to your comp. only once and am not in any position to comment on it now. will do so later. (the premise of the comp. was inviting tho' :-) ).
