The songs are not up to the mark. But once the film is released i think songs will be a hit.
I think rajni should go back to IR .

Vijay-
'these people are highly money-minded'
What exactly are you trying to prove from this. They sing to make a living! Or did you not realize that! How many South Asians have moved out of there homeland to make a living? How many have chosen to work in a foriegn country because it gave them more luxury?! PLENTY!
So there's no sense in accusing these people. And they don't choose to sing this and that. THEY are chosen.

There seem to be two Geetha's here, I'll go back to YGEETHA(UK Oracle Proxy)......I don't know about the standard of music, only heard that the magazine reviews are very good for Padayappa.....
Ramki: Agreed, Unni's standard seems to be dropping..... Nithyashree's songs for Deva and Adithyan were not up to mark either, Adithyan copied a Hindi song and Deva's creation, if you can call it that, in Chinna Raja was pretty appalling..... I truely believe that IR will bring out her talents, as he has done with KJJ, and other predominantly Carnatic singers. Also, I feel that her song will have a strong Carnatic base, as IR is best at.
Shanmugan: Adithyan tries to be original?!?!? Are you having a laugh? The song he has done in the film Vennilave Vennilave is a 'copy' of Dum harudham? I'm not sure of the words(not Dum Madudham, the famous song) in Hindi.....He tries to be original? hhhhhmmmmmm I', sorry, IMHO, I'll dispute you on this.....All the other songs in Vennilave were not listenable.... I think he went and found a song in Keeravani Ragam and lifted it, so that he could claim a Classical base, if questioned......
Clarify: I'm sorry for offending you, I meant what Ravi guessed I meant, I should have checked before posting..... also, I should have used the word Carnatic singer made famous by ARR.....as I was trying to explain, Bombay Jayashree went practically un-noticed even though IR gave her such a brilliant song, Kai Veenaiye......whereas, when Narumugaiye came out, she was very well known....IMHO.....
CLARIFY AGAIN: I must admit, now, thinking about your comment CLARIFY, IR is using Hariharan a lot(ARR brought him to TFM) and IR also used Ila Arun, in Kadhal Kavaithai, as did ARR in Lovebirds, in a similar song and situation, may I add..... I don't think that she had been heard of in TFM until ARR used her......Was that why you were upset by reading between-the-lines into my he/she typo? Thinking of it now, maybe your 'hidden' sentiments, and not telling us your name may mean that you had thought along those lines?!?!?
Please remember, I'm not trying to put anyone down, I'm a fan of MUSIC, if it is melodious, rich and catches my ear..... Please don't try and critizise all my comments, it's one of the reasons why I'm avoiding the forum, recently, people try and read between the lines of all my comments, just because I am an ARR fan..... Also, remember I will make my comments on all music directors , as that is why this forum exists.....Agreed, Ravi? I try to buy every release on cassette and then buy the good ones on CD, but all in all, I believe I listen to all the music released at all times in the UK. I feel I have sufficient knowledge to comment on music, as I have learnt my fair share of Western and Carnatic Classical, I may have been brought up in the West, but have always had a passion for Indian Music(my Dad palyed nothing but IR when I was young), I even listen to Hindi Music, and a lot of English R 'N' B, Soul and Swing, Pop. I would ask you NOT TO BRAND ME, because my views differ from yours. Sorry to go on for so long and to have got emotional, but music means the world to me and your comments have really hurt me - Mr Clarify.......

Aamanga Madam....when IR started using Unnikrishnan/Hariharan or when ARR started using Bombay Jayashree I never thought (and even now never think) twice about it. After all it is an industry, and there is nothing wrong in using a singer, if you think he/she suits the situation ( or if the MD thinks he/she suits the situation). What I hate though is the fans going gaga over this. Now , Geetha, you are an ARR fan, and I know for a fact that you have made some statements that were slightly off the mark (like claiming that Harini and Hariharan were siblings) .... and that most of these statements that are off the mark concern IR. Hence the concern.
And regarding Padayappa being released, hmmmm :-))) {Frankly, I am pretty sure that it has'nt been but there is a slight chance that I might be wrong).
Ah, and my name ---- Elsewhere in this forum, I have used my name, and have clarified that I did use (and am about to use) the pseudonym Clarify ...but I dont believe that it makes any difference, does it?

Clarify: I think I made it clear that there are TWO Geetha's on the thread - I DID NOT MAKE THOSE STATEMENTS THAT PADAYAPPA IS RELEASED - READ MY ORIGINAL POSTING AGAIN..... DIGRESSION: A Personal attack: Who's off the mark now, Clarify?
Also, my quote about Hariharan and Harini was a mistake that I very much apologised for, as I had got the information from a cousin in Sri Lanka. If you hold this against me, I can only but sympathise with you for mis-trusting my knowledge. I try and substanciate all my claims now. Also, I was new to the forum and didn't get that statment checked before I posted it - this was nearly one year ago. You are being very very petty.
As for my statements that are off the mark, again, you all do this, especially if someone has a bias in this forum..... Just because I like ARR doesn't mean that my statements are off the mark regarding IR. I make statements that are IMHO correct or simply my(and only my) feelings towards the music discussed. You trying to put me down everytime I write is WRONG, as far as I'm concerned, as everyone is entitled to their opinion, as is time-in-time re-iterated in this forum.....
I think I'll keep away again, it looks like it's not worth me sharing my information with you people, especially since nowadays, I get first hand information about ARR/Nithyashree!?!?!

Mr. Aruvi,
u have clearly misunderstood my statement. what i meant was people like unnikrishnana do not SOLELY depend on film music for a living. its not that if they are denied a chance in TFM they are going to be on the roads. they have already earned enough in their profession which is singing carnatic music, plus they are from a rich background. hence they can use their vast knowledge to choose songs and not to sing for every other MD and spoil their image as they have done now.

only
heard that the magazine reviews are very good for Padayappa.....
I based what I said on this statement of yours Geetha. In my understanding, an album is reviewed after it is released, so I am assuming here that you meant previews.....
Honestly, I was trying to be conciliatory in my previous posting. Well, maybe I was petty; but the Hariharan/Harini thing was the only thing that came to my mind when I thought of the "off the mark" statements that you made.
And again, I did not say that all your statements about IR are off the mark. It is just that (Should I add IMHO here?), I can sense a distinct anti-IR bias in your postings. And this prompted me to ask you for a clarification in the first posting.
This is a forum where everyone can say what he or she feels. Some people might like what you say and others wont. And the proportions in this mix may vary .... Again , IMHO, refusing to participate in discussions because a few people question what you say, is'nt the right attitude :-) (absolutely no offense meant ...). After, all disagreement fuels this forum (and any lively discussion) for if everyone agrees with everbody else, then excitement gives way to dull, drab and dreary discussions.
Regards,

Whatever may be ... Rajini is RAJINI!!
Take for example the movie Arunachalam. The songs weren't any good before the release of the movie then it became very famous after the release. People who saw the movie and our 'superstar's action' will never forget those sceens and as well as the songs.
It is the same with Padayappa. We all have to wait & see... let us be patient dears.

rajini carries the film on his shoulders and deva hung on to him with the full confidence that his inferior music will get attention with more than alittle help from the superstar.
