Guys
did anyone of you listen to Thulluvatho Illami
Is a very wonderful album by YSR.
I dont know why any site gave any review for this new fresh sound by YSR to me this is best effort so far worth listening to.
Extraordinary !! Wonder if someone can write a review.
Only thing is the movie is by Kasthuri Raja
but you listen to music you will assume the director will Shankar or somebody like Kathir
Hope somebody does market this album well

UV,
Thulluvatho Ilamai is produced by Kasturi Raaja and directed by his son who is just 21 years old and he is 2oo% more stylish and sophisticated than Shanker or Kathir...A.A.

Thulluvatho Illamai have you guys listened to it?
Like to know your expert comments on this wonderful album by YSR,he seems to be lot more matured in this than mere playing around with sounds. He has proved he can give very good melodies in this.

sorry for the digression friends,
a.a, u said Kasthuri Raaja's son is 200% more stylish and sophisticated than Shanker or Kathir, what do you mean by that?? Is it about the way he directs/produces the movie or his personality??
i'm asking this because u said u r a film reporter and am assuming that u have seen him(KasthuriRaaja's son) performing in the set.

Hi guys
Just guessing the story of Dum Dum Dum.
Madhavan is a college guy singing "Krishna Krishna". Jyothika is your not so typical village belle singing "Sutrum Bhoomi". Our hero is told about how he has to marry our heroine (i hope it is not a promise made when they were in the womb). Hearing this, our heroine sings "Athan Varuvaha" with her friends. Imagines she is singing "Desinga Raja" about dowry and stuff. They get married and our hero ignores her. Then seeing her "manasu", he starts developing the wee bit feelings towards her. So we get to see "Ragasiyamai". Finally they sing "Un perai sonnale" together.
Sounds stale... Well I would be too glad if proven wrong. But even if I am not, hats off to kartik Raja and the lyricists. I am happy either way.

Let me add:
The village belle has golden streaked, shampooed and conditioned hair; uses Revlon and Garnier make up kits and wears designer ghagra choLis and sandals. She dances in the fields and temples and prays to her favorite God with one eye open (sutti PoNNu'nu KAmikkaNum Illa?).
The hero, city-bred (a la Arvind Swamy of Roja) is determined to marry a tudukku vAi 'Gramathu PoNNu' and pays a visit to God's own country side.
He comes and after a 'mOdhal' falls head over high-heels for the plump beauty. There are half a dozen comedians around the couple who try and portray the ultimate village, where everybody is good-natured and have a whakko sense of humor.
To add a little serious angle, there will be a strict father and a loving mother who cries at the drop of a hat.
In addition, in keeping with the guru (MaNi Rantnam)'s strange tradition, there will be a couple of fat old ladies who sit and dance (remember the yucky elbow movements in the sitting posture by the 'Patti's in the 'Rukmani' and 'YAro yArOdi' songs)
And finally in a railway station or a bullock-cart stand, the separated couple unite, and live happily ever after in the company of the half-a-dozen comedians!
Dumm Dumm Dumm!

Great extrapolation Neels,
But doesn't the hero make his feelings about marriage clear in Krishna Krishna. SO he is being forced into this. Probably his "morai penn"...

And the fat ladies are definitely in the running for a part in "Athan Varuvaha"

I wish I were. I would have loved to operate with such a score.
Thats exactly the point I am making here. Even a totally uncreative guy like me can spin a yarn with this music.
I have heard how people used to create movies around IR's music and not the other way around. Used to amaze me.
I am amazed this time with DDD.

Kupps,
This boy son of Kasturiraaja when I saw him was in KAKHI Cargo,Black T shirt with good English...You can visualise another Manoj...looking like KATTAN but behaviour is very Urbanish...Shanker and Kathir are PSUEDO Urbanates...a.a.

How exactly would you define KATTAN. I know he was brought up entirely in Madras, in a very middle class neighbourhood. And he does not have any accent, for sure. Does it mean he is a KATTAN?
Dont start judging him, yet.

My apologies. I jumped the trigger here. You did say he wasn't a KATTAN.

I love it / Neels:
Very great guesses. My akka and athimber are acting in the movie as Madhavan's Akka and Athimber.. I know the story, it is kinda usual yet unusual. One thing that my
cousin told is that the songs are picturised fabulously and she did tll me long back that the songs themselves are very good, thats why I bought the CD, and it is proven true.

vimal,
So, how close are we in guessing the story? 70%?
When is the movie scheduled to be released?
The music I am told is selling well. They have tied up with Pepsi this time to promote the songs on TV (like Mani Ratnam did with Bru in 'Alay Payudhe')
By the way,
1. are your sister and BIL regular actors or are they debuting in this film?
2. By any chance, are you the once famous Master Vimal? ;)

KR's Hoo anthiya u-hoo anthiya (Kannada) is a nice effort in melody. If you overlook one ordinary song made worse by Mano's singing, this album is pretty flawless to listen
to. The "Chanda" song is very catchy, with nice chorus work. Solos by SPB and Hariharan are very good. Bhava's "beLLi chandra" is infectious. Madhu Balakrishnan is excellent in both "chanda" (same song rendered by Sadhana Sargam too) and the other duet.
Way to go KR!

Neels,
I think the movie is scheduled to be released on the Tamil New Year day.
1. My Akka and BIL are not actors but career people, but you know that it has become a trend these days for the Upper Middle Class Mamas and Mamis to come and grace the screen. Infact my entire dad's side family acted in "Alaypayudhe" and "Jeans" as extras...!! They come in the wedding scenes. Since they all are doing ok for themselves, they are asked to come in very rich and costly attires. Saves a lot of money for the producers you see, and looks much more decent on screen. They aren't paid much though. I was asked to act as one of Vijay's pallies in some movie when I was in India for a vacation, but my Mom refused.
2.) And..I am not the "Famous" master Vimal. I wish I was famous though...
