  well said, kupps.
  Last year, I think there werent many movies being released at tat period were there? I remember there was Vaanavil. I think Aalavandhan was expected to be released, but was postponed. Were there any other big releases during that period?

  If shankar's gonna do the next rajini film going by the rumours, then we can expect ARR to be the MD again, if all goes well.
  
  Wud any of u know if this is gonna be the last rajini movie ever? Some say it will be his last movie before entering politics, but i've heard talk of it being the last ever. thing is, rajini made some statement in relation to KB which implied he'll be doing more movies. does anyone know more about this.

  Why Not: I would definitely hope that Rajini/Shankar/ARR combo make at least one movie together. Since I am a HCF of Rajini and ARR and also like Shankar's direction and grand presentation.
  Now, if Baba is going to be Rajini's last movie as it is rumoured right now, then our wish wouldnt come true. Let's wait and see. Rajini will hint regarding this in Baba.

  i think the rumour will always be there as this is the "last" rajini movie..... well, for one reason, that itself will attract crowds a lot.... and if this movie goes well, and become a hit, iam sure Rajini will do one more in the same line in another 1 year or so.....

  Some examples of young actresses with Rajini or Rajini's ex-heroines now acting as his Mom are
  
  1) Meena - Calls Rajini as Rajini uncle in Anbulla Rajinikanth and then went on to act as his heroine in Muthu, Veera etc.
  
  2) Lakshmi - Acted as his heroine in Pollathavan, now acting as his mom (Padayappa)
  
  Endrum ilamaiyudam iruppavar engal thalaivar. Thats how the janta wants him on big screen. So be it.
  
  Now, as you said Kushbu or Ambika or Radha's daugther will act opposite him as heroine 3 years from now.

  The phenomenon of actresses progressing quickly from daughter role to wife role to mother role applies to other actors as well (kamal inc.). Heroines always have shorter life spans than heroes in movies. When I was watching Muthu, someone commented that in a few years, Meena will be acting as Rajini's grandmother. It's sad but true.

  The cinemaexpress article was very interesting.
  First I heard that Shirdi Sai Baba may be featured in the movie, now it is Mahavatar Babaji. (Paramahansa Yogananda's guru's guru's guru)...
  It's interesting they even mentioned Paramahansa Yogananda's Autobiography of A Yogi in tat article. However I cannot fathom how Babaji can figure in the storyline, unless it has Rajini as a follower or something..even then, they have so many schools of thought stemming from their lineage of gurus, so which one wud it be? I believe one of the most active organisations till date is the Self-Realisation Fellowship, but I dont think they'll be involved in this movie.
  Rajini mus be doing a good job of keeping the story under wraps, or by now everyone wud know everything.
  It shud be an interesting story...and tat makes me wonder if we'll have interesting music to go with it...

  All the dinakaran article has is the news that Baba is a lorry driver and that all the actresses vying for heroine and supporting actress roles have now lost interest because those roles have already been taken by Manisha and kaiko.
  
  Rajini has said that it is based on a true story and other rumors are that he himself is the saint turned revenge-monger.
  Putting two and two together Rajini must probably start off as a saint (the Baba) that they mention in that article, revert back to dishum dishum with Aashish Vidhyarthi and then return back to sainthood or politics (whatever his final message is going to be). I too hope that the music by ARR will be a super hit with his usual bani (style) / mix of songs.

  IK, thanks for the summary of the Dinakaran article. Coming back to the cinemaexpress article, I was thinking about it...I think the whole thing about Mahavatar Babaji mus be mere speculation. If rajini decided to act as Babaji, wudnt there be protests? anyway, he may be easily do a double role, abit like in Muthu.
