"The album kicks in with the very catchy ye ye ennachu sung by Vasundhara Das in manner that only she can. Next is a beauty of a ballad sonnalum by Unnikrishnan and Harini.
Vaan nila by Srinivas and Karthik is a highly innovative rock-n-roll track that would not let your feet rest. S P Balu is in his usual fantastic form in the heart warming yenthan vanin. Rahman takes off again into a very progressive FTV style track in bailmore with T R Simbu and Tippu doing the vocal honours. And the album ends on a grand note with Mano and Clinton going for the gut with o kadhale, which also sits on an emotional high note in the movie.
Kaadhal Virus has all the ingredients of a typical Kathir-A R Rahman soundtrack. A great mix of upbeat youthful tracks and soulful ballads"

Vaan Nila second interlude starts off with debussy style. It even reminds me of a Debussy composition. Great work by Rahman.

Listened to KV... As usual first time going thro it, only 2 songs seemed good... after 2 or 3 hearings I like Ye ye ennachu.... I dont think I will like bailamore a lot... O kaadhale and Vaan nila are not that great... but again I have listened to them only a couple of times... Sonnalum , En than vaanin are the only songs I play over and over again...To be frank,I didnt listen to Run, album and laysa laysa.. I've downloaded these songs and played it over again and again... Laysa laysa to me is the worst of the 4... Run and album are good but not great...KV is also of the same category but probably a bit better than the other two... though not of the caliber of his earlier hits.. To me KV is on par with KM but not to the mark of Alai payuthey and KK....

Content: Bharathi raja praises ARR by saything BR can overcome all the financial debuts if ARR acts in his movie since his appearance in one ad. received so much appreciation. VeluPrabaharan says all the technical inventions in the cine field were made by foreigners. But by giving ARR to the International Audience we excelled them!

"Ye Ye.." is a new welcome experiment in TFM. Looking at the mood, sounds of the song you can say that there were a few similar kind of songs like "Seriyaa Thavira.. from 12B" "Ilamai Inimai from LL" both from HJ. But "Ye Ye.." is a class apart for its offbeat style with an unique kind of R&B feel to the song.

Looks like "Vaan Nila" is going to be the under-rated less celebrated song here. But it has got a certain 70s twist dance feel to it and some excellent sax pieces worth listening. Karthik has done a good job.

The "melody" numbers in this album are nothing great to write about but the Vasundhra number and Vaan Nila are hip. The former has some recording effcts commonly noticed in MTV-pop songs making it a little trendy and the latter has very interesting sax pieces(someone has freaked out with it), lots of Jazz influence.

First look at Kadhal virus songs
1. Ye ye Enna achu : First time you listen to this song you think its just another hip hop...... but listen to it a couple of more times and its a very interesting piece of work.... ARR's perfect R&B song... on the shades of shakalaka baby or Seriya thavara (12b).... I hope this is the intro song in the movie... Vasundhra has the perfect voice for these type of songs... (8.5/10)
2. Sonnalum - Starts like a usual melodious song... but once Unni starts singing, the song changes pattern and looks a different song altogether... Unni and harini have done a great job , (particularly Unni after his series of failures with other MDs)...... Watch out for ARR's improvisation with a thavil piece in the middle of the first stanza.. This song would definitely be the best of the 6 in my mind...(9.5/10)
3. Yen than vaanil - A decent song ... I guess SPB has sung n number of similar songs... I was reminded of Swasame from Thenali when I listened to this song .... The 'Vaazhga vaazhga' piece sounded like 'Jannal kaatragi vaa'....I liked the song when I listened to it the 3rd time or so... (8/10)
4. Vaan Nila - A perfect Rock'n'Roll type song... TFM hasnt produced that many Rock n roll type songs... Its a different try by ARR and has come out well with it... Karthik's voice doesnt suit the song that much IMO.... Definitely a catchy tune and my 2nd favourite in this album (9/10)
5. O kaadhale - Not that great a song to talk about.. Horrible Mano's voice...... I'm not sure when a Azhumoonji guy like Srinivas is there, why ARR had picked Mano... Irritates with his coughing at times too.. The best part of the song was the 'Kaadhale Kaadhale' piece in the 2nd stanza by ARR or someone... Would rate it 6/10...
6. Bailamore - Just a foot tapper... Nothing great to discuss in this song as well... Cant understand the lyrics.... Becos of the fast beats and music , the song would grow over one as time goes by... Would rate it (6.5/10)..
Overall, 4 out of the 6 songs were good.... Definitely a better album than the other recently released ones... worth spending the money for the cassette or CD.........

i think after listening to the album 5 times it's really good. rahman wants to innovate with every movie. vanila is excellent simply for it's uniqueness. sonnalum is good . the humming kadhale in o kadhale by clinton takes the song to a differnt class.
album is worth listening

>>The best part of the song was the 'Kaadhale Kaadhale' piece in the 2nd stanza by ARR or someone<<
see! ;)
Clinton DOES sound like ARR! :)
Thiru, give Baila more another try..
even i wasnt very fond of it.. after i got it converted to MP3 and listened to it, it suddenly sounds cool! What are the lines that Simbu sings? If Thippu and TR Simbu sing alternatively.. naah cant be.
Azhage oh azhage sounds haunting at times..
the closing azhage is incomplete and jus perfect! ;)

I think this album is no different from the present day albums. It's like listening to same type of songs again and again with mediocre vocals and repeated beats. If you listen to the or kadhale the music is very much similar to uyire uyire. There is no real experiment either from the composition point of view or from the musical arrangments point of view. Pretty mediocre album. It's like listening to Tamil Pop songs. Let's see how long he is going to churn out these repeated tunes and get away with it.

magix,
i guess baila would grow over me the more I listen to it.... and ofcourse Clinton does sound like ARR at times....
Another interesting piece is in 'Ye ye ennachu'...in the second stanza you can find that the beats are not in sync with the song intentionally.... That's what u call improvisation...

Kadhal Virus.. I think if you had listened to Roja, Indira, Bombay, Kadhal Desam you don't have to lisen to this. Mixing of all those things are Kadhal Virus. Suitable for teenagers for dancing around. For me .. naaah... These Runs, Leysa Leysas, Kadhal Viruses.. they all sound similar. What is the big deal? What has he achieved in this? Technology has taken over Tamil Music. One thing that is common in all these albums. Same type of music. Bad singing. Bad lyrics. Forgettable tunes. Yuk.. i cannot believe some people even like this album.

curses endha kaalathulappa irukka.. i bought cassettes 4 years back. adukkappuram only CD and ippo MP3. go to tamilterra.com download it. After Napster came i didn't spend even a single penny for cassettes or CDs. Last 2 years only Mp3 songs.

KV is not that good man. First song is just pass mark. Other songs are not that good. Rahman is not giving good tamil music these days. Harris Jayaraj is better than him. The album is boring. I don't like the movie title also. Edho viyadhi per madiri.
