Remember the Music Director trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, the music directors of Kamal Hassan's Alavandhaan. They seem to be missing in the Tamil scene for the last 2 years and they are doing really good in the Hindi field. They have given solid musical hits in Hindi such as; Mission Kashmir, Dil Chahtha Hai. I think they can be brought to the Tamil films again. I feel they are definitely better than Deva and a few others. I think they are the best as far as Hindi Film Music goes after A R Rahman.
I would like healthy comments who listen to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and have a fair knowledge of Hindi Film Industry.

Each language has an idiom of its own, SPB does not suit Hindi at all or Malayalm, His voice is best in Tamil, Kan, Tel. Sanu K is very Hindi voice, and lot of this ambience in it like Kishore or Lata. also, Sanu needs heavy shmaltzy violins to balance his voice. Hindi basically require thicker voices, unlike south Indian. so all that comparision of SPB being great is all bulcrp and it is a real pity to hear SPB'thin voice in hindi songs sright form ek duje ke liye!!! i just can't stand it. it is like hearing krishnachandran or Udit Narayan' voices in Tamil songs. just doesn't work. Yesudas' voice and depth can work in any language despite his accent and he is an excption.
And, for the "class" & stylish works of SEL, pls don't bring Sanu here!

dear ehsaan,
please do me a favour(ehsaan), by answering my question.
Q-)in the song 'meri zindagi mein aake, when sonu nigam sings" oh ho ho ho ho ", he modulates his voice in a conscious effort to generate the sort of surround sound effect sanu da naturally has in his voice. wouldn't u say that it would be double standards to say that u dont like sanu da's 'modulation' when u urself r compelling other singers to modulate their voices to sound more like sanu da(even if at a sub-conscious level )??
i would like to take this opportunity to air a few more of my opinions. i think that the three of u, shankar, ehsaan , loy, are very talented indeed, and i personally like u more than ARR. ARR , according to me, has a great background music sense, but his songs are not hummable, ie, the basic composition is not very good. on the other hand the songs u compose , for instance in armaan, DCH, mission kashmir etc, are melodious compositions. this is the reason i am so keen to have sanu da sing for u. i would never try to convince ARR to have sanu da sing for him.
you guys have a good command over both music and composition, and i am sure this will take u far :--)

Dear Ehsaan,
I have never said that I do not like Dance and Masti. I have only said that these are not the only things. When our Faizan bhai requested for some melody in your music, then you as if meant that creation of melody involves only repeatations. Therefore, I made this comment.
I am not saying that songs without melody are bad or anything. You are definitely talented and will go a lot further. Only thing is: please have some respect for the great singer like Kumar Sanu who is the king in the heart of millions. Also, don't undermine melody. It is because of these melodious songs only that many people find meanings of their lives.
Best wishes,
Santanu

just a correction, SPB has done things in Tamil songs which other singers can only dream of, i am just sayin his voice makes it embarrassing to listen in Hindi like we find Udit a total in addition, the accent also, but Yesudas voice more than makes up for other deficiencies. Again, if you go the way of Rahman or SEL, voices have to be sophisticated, a little rugged(again, SPB' voice is the least rugged one) for hindi songs.

looks like these guys like santanu, faizan and swapan are mareketing for Kumar Sanu.
Please do not question the [professional choices of musicians.
I hope and pray that Ehsaan does not take seriously these solemn urgings of some over-zealous Kumar Sanu fans.
Ehsaan, nobody understands your music more than you guys do. Please dont take these frill comments seriously. Especially the most ridiculous ones of Kumar Sanu being popular in North villages and your popularity soaring becos of that. What Atrocious Nonsense!
Like I said Ehsaan, professional choices of musicians shud not be questioned. You know ur music the best. Please select singers accordingly.
I am sure you know SPB is miles ahead of people like Kumar Sanu. So the mere comparison of Sanu with a legend like SPB should educate you on how ridiculously over-zealous some Sanu fans are in propogating his nasal voice in the name of respect to senior musicians, popularity in north indian villages, cloning of Sanu voices (Sanu of everyone!!!).

I have to say as a Kumar Sanu fan a Shanker-Ehsaan-Loy fan I am very happy and sad at the same time. I am very happy to read news that the music directors are working on great projects and that their albums are sounding good. I am sad to say though that many of SEL's melodies would have been even better with the great Kumar Sanu. He is the only Bollywood singer who can make a decent song good and good song great and a great song classic. Sanuji and SEL together would make a great team. If the fans here dont believe me, or what I am writing, think about Nadeem Shravan and Anu Malik, they not only used Sanuji but overused him almost. That is why they are here today and not Anand Milind. These two music directors with Jatin Lalit, and exception to Mr. Rahman saab, are the most used and recognized musicians in the last decade or so. I would like to point out that all have have used Sanuji and it did wonders for them. Well obviously what I am saying is an opinion like everyone else but the records show that Sanuji sells and is loved all over the world. He is the only singer to come to New york Every year to sell mout w/o having another big name next to him, I am also including the Nightingale of India Lataji in this. Well I hope this combo will be utilised if not it will be another sad story in Bollywood! I have my fingers crossed that SEL and KS will work together Sooner than later and will be a Bollywood tandem to be recogned with!!!

I would like to urge people to not to abuse singers by calling names and just state your feelings about who you like, For example dont say Kumar Sanu is a legend and SP is not. They booth are in their areas. So lets please keep everything educated and healthy!

--------ARR , according to me, has a great background music sense, but his songs are not hummable----------
You are talking about a Genius whose songs Bollywood, Kollywood, Tollywood and all the woods in india hummed tiredlessly, specially during Mid,Late 90s. You are trying to lick Kumar Sanu's by bashing ARR. Noone doesnt care about Kumar Sanu.
---i would never try to convince ARR to have sanu da sing for him.-----
You talk like you live next door to ARR. You really must be dreaming a lot dude.
ARR's songs not hummable, what r u talking about?? Atleast everyone did hum at a point 'Humma Humma Hummaah' in Bombay. :)

Thanks V !!!!!I dont only speak for the 3 of us but for every film director we work with . There is a younger generation fo directors we work with who prefer other male voices like Shaan , Sonu , Udit and now the new singer Kunal ( who sang on Saathiya ). The combination of KS and Nadeem Shravan works and it doesnt necessarily mean that it woill owrk with any other music directors.

Eshaan ji
Are you one of the great from SEL? Well I really love your creations. DCH,KNK and MK are the best. KHNK are just growing on me. Thanks for all your creations.
As for Kumar Sanu issue above, I feel why you are not using him. There are many songs which can go to him considering his melodious voice. I agree not all songs suit him.
From the singer list I like Shaan,Udit.

ARR has been tremendously successful and consistent w/out using Kumar Sanu.
I believe that SEL would prefer being consistent and would rather have high ratio of successful albums than these bollywood duos who churn out trash most of the time and occassionally good ones . Hey, even if I produce 20-30 albums a year, atleast 2 or 3 would be good. But I prefer producing 2 albums a year and having excellent songs in the entire two albums and being consistent.
ANu Malik and Nadeem Shravan are today what they are because they have mindlessly produced myriads of albums not thinking about consistency.
SEL are MDs. They have to cater to the film script, song situation, target audience of the movie, director and producer's taste and insistence and on top of it all their own perspicacious sense of their music.
And those who profess success as a direct function of using Kumar Sanu as a singer, please stop this nonsense! Success can be attained w/ sincerity to the profession and dedication! Ehsaan I am sure you guys would know that too.
