  SK, rameshb thanks for all the efforts. The problem is, I am not able to play any of the songs still. I used to be able to. I am able to access songs only from swara.com.

  swara.com produces .ram files online whereas we
  have already made ready-made .ram files. Otherwise
  there is no difference. I don't know why you are
  not able to listen to our pages' songs. As you
  said, perhaps bb can help in this.

  i think swara.com has CGI-BIN access where they can create a customized meta file .ram on the fly based on the songs checked. I was going for implementing similar logic, but could n't get CGI-BIN to work with any of the those free-hosts. Xoom does not allow. Others like webjump and virtual avenue are prudent and overly circumspect to give CGI access to a new page. I had an unsuccessful attempt with webjump where their obtuse administrator would not yield to my requests. I cancelled my subsrciption with them.
  
  BTW, i have uploaded an better version of 'Enge nimmathi'.

  I am not sure what kind of problems you are encountering. Did you download a real player of late or reconfigure it by other means as it happens when you download a browser like netscape?

  Please try to listen the following songs
  song1: http://members.xoom.com/tamilmelody/ondru.ram
  song2: http://members.xoom.com/tamilmelody/enge.ram
  
  Song1 meta file opens a .rm (real media) and Song2 opens .ra (raal audio) for playing. If you can listen to song2 and NOT Song1 (which could be most likely) , then your .ram file type has an associated realaudio file to open which is old and you are able to listen only .ra files.
  
  Most of the songs in my site have changed to .rm though i had some songs (1 - 10) with .ra extension during the first few days after i launched my page. I am not sure about the file types that SK has created (.ra or .rm)
  
  If neither of the songs i mentioned here are playable , then it could be a different problem. I am not sure why you auto-configured your real audio player, as this is not required UNLESS you are behind a FIREWALL. When you download realplayer G2, it does the configuration for you depending on your network/modem.
  
  Please try listening to the songs i have mentioned here (Song1 and Song2), and let me know what is the result. It will be useful in troubleshooting, if you can send me the full syntax of the error message you get. My email is ralaan@aol.com

  SK 'kannile iruppadhenne' is from Ambikapathy. There are 2 versions one by Banumathi(Banumathi paada Rajasulochana dance aaduvaar) and the second by TMS(Sivaji padagil paaduvaar-idhu sad version).

  Ramki, there's this song in Pattum Bharathamum - Mazhaikkaalam Varugindradhu by Vani Jayaram, which you have missed. SK, can you find this song? It's been more than 20 years (yes I know) since I heard this song!

  When you say old tamil songs, what time period are you referring to? Does it go into the 70's? In that case, can you please include any of the really good songs sung by PS and SJ in that time. Thanks a lot for you efforts. BTW, P.B.Sreenivas has got a great voice, can you please make a vaaram for him too, so that we can listen to all his hits.

  All the old songs that i am encoding are only from cassettes. Presently, i am recording 'pOnaal pOgattum pOda' with echo/reverb effect. I have taken care to avoid any hissy noises.
