AR Rahman's Tamil Blockbuster "BOYS"

Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....

Also; use this thread to discuss this album..

Here is what i found::

Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.

Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.

In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.

Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.

For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

  if TN does not give any credit to ARR.
  you are talking as if Hindi has given high credit to him, does it??
  or even english...
  
  he does not have spontaneous creativity.. that is the reason he taking such long time to compose.
  
  why you ppl just blame director and actor.
  if ARR does not need money. then he can just do project with less cost. why does he asking such enormous money for his work. he just selling his music in the market.. he wants MONEY.. MONEY..
  
  He is going to Hindi just because they 're ready to give more money.. amount of audience are more for hindi. any other reason?
  
  why does he not able to give good BGM? he could give only different.. no feeling in those music.
  he just to try to give different combination.. it is possible by anyone with time frame difference. am i right?

  if ARR wanted money,he could just simply agree to score music any movie,demand for a lot of money,produce simple music in 5 days,hand it to the director,collect his money and move on to other directors,coz everyone wants music from ARR....but is he doing that???no...........

  You are pathetically wrong abt. ARR rajarajan….. I’ll tell u y:
  1.he demands huge money bcos he gives a lot of money to his tabla,violins,guitar artistes and also he is the highest payer for singers… he does so bcos he needs quality from them.. and also he uses money for experimentation like Additional programming in Boys..
  2.he composes tunes very fast… but his fillings in the Background and interlude takes more time…. He keeps on adding sounds ….. ever wondered y IR’s songs have a thin Background and ARR’s is always loaded heavily…..
  3.For BGM, IR is the king but ARR gives BGM in Hollywood composers’ style…. Hollywood composers add album’s tunes in BGM so that mood in the film is not shifted…..
  4.ARR is obviously treated better in Mumbai and London…… go and check BBC websites for reviews on ARR……. In Mumbai he is considered as the successor of S.D.B and R.D.B…. an excerpt from an TIMES OF INDIA EDITORIAL,MUMBAI “ARR has rewritten film music melody”….. .... Economic times once came up with a article on ARR's success in Bollywood....
  even Harsha bhogle seems to be a fan of ARR…

  Hollywood style music composing, where did you get that idea from? Hollywood music is based on selling a OST which is a collection from various albums, it works in the marketing world to make two videos and have it number one in VH1 or MTV.
  
  Recent Ex: Pink's song in Chalie's Angels
  Christina Aguileras songs : Fighter
  Brittany spears songs : Austin Powers
  Marlyn Manson songs in Matrix
  So dont tell something for the sake of telling things.
  
  BGM: I personally felt there should be Music, Right from Roja: There is more shouting in the back ground than a life like serene music that will add value to the scene. I am not picking on ARR.
  
  Your analysis of adding sounds is just a laughing stock for defending the delay in movies..
  
  I wish to tell only one thing, A key board can only produce as many sounds it has available, to find all the permutation and combination is tougher and time consuming like using the Google for software bits
  
  IR's Genius is unparallel here, where he creates Music with his mind, so the flow is correct and appropriate, and with experience comes ease of music making nuances.
  
  To give a small hint, the song in Thalapathi by KJY and SJ i guess was used with such a precise way that elevated the scene as well the song.
  (though this was used as bit), this is called hollywood style...

  Ok dear ARR fans. After waiting a loooong time we got the boys. The music is as usual I don't want to say much more about that.
  
  We have a good chance to praise ARR with the future albums E20 U18, New and something else. Let me start first.

  I mean to say Every one including frustrated with ARR's recentalbum after alaipayuthe to till Boys.
  
  We can not claim with his past albums roja,kadalan,indian etc..Because then IR fans will claim again from 70's 80's.
  
  The future albums is going to be as usual. After releasing those albums IR,YSR,HJ,etc.. fans critisize ARR too.
  
  Then what is the way praise ARR ?. This is the only way.

  I appreciate ARR's ability and popularity. But some of the points were too illogical.
  
  1. Even "Harsha Bhogle"? Who is harsha bhogle? He is just another man who commentates (infact fills in between top cricketers) about cricket. Is he anyway better than any other person in India when it comes to music. Do you know his music knowledge? Harsha bhogle is not Mumbai I guess. My Mumbai friend does not like AR Rehman, does this mean whole mumbai doesnt like him. A french singer (I assume he has better music knowledge than bhogle) is a fan of IR and SPB. Does this mean whole France likes IR?
  
  2. I dont know where you came up with this idea of ARR takes alot of time filling things and not creating tunes. Were you next to ARR or do you have any fact? Yes he seems to improvise alot. But, that does not necessarily suggest he takes little time. The output of IR says he does create music in short time. So dont ask me whether I was sitting next to IR. Also, its the amount of good or great song matters and not the amount of time taken (though it proves how strong a person should be in music with IR giving alot of quality stuff as well).
  
  3. Hollywood style? I wonder how many hollywood movies you have seen. Though I would not say hollywood provides the best (Its again American propaganda that they produce best stuff). Sorry you need to look for ARR's BGM when you go for ARR movies next time. I will give you some movies which is from a top quality director (so you cannot blame its because of the story line).

  ARR uses songs in the background and instrumental version of the tune of the same song often, because thats his strength (to cover up the weakness maybe).
  
  4. ARR is treated better in Mumbai and London? I dont know about Mumbai. I certainly know about London because I stay in London. ARR is popular among the south indian population here. Most of the hindi population listen to punjabi music (and listen its just the indian population who watch movies).
  
  BBC is just a broadcasting corp. which broadcasts news all around the world and UK and ARR is in London doing things with Lloyd webber who is very popular here, so there is bound to be reviews.
  Also, you need to see Bombay dreams to understand why he chose ARR and why Bombay dreams is a success. Just because someone does things in London does not mean he is an international superstar already. ARR is just starting things. I dont know why people get too excited already. I dont know what you mean by treating well. I feel ARR is supported for what he is worth in TN, which I think is good. You post as if ARR is of international quality and you in Mumbai hear it so all people in Mumbai are of International quality. If people in TN just give credit for what IR or ARR is worth that would meet any quality.

  "Music is life" then y couldn't IR destroy ARR.. u mean to say that IR being a GENIUS,GREAT man could not remove a small untalented man from the industry with his music or arrest people from listening to ARR by giving some spellbinding music??? well for ARR's BGM's go and listen to "Uyire" where ARR composed a song "Vinmeenakali thandi" which is the most soul-stirring sound that i've ever heard in my whole life.....
