  This is the doing pattern of a song
  
  Take one tea spoon music 'Malikovil vasalil-Veera' and stir it with a some emotion amount of 'Kathunkuyilae - Kilakkum Merkum'.
  
  After 30 seconds, we come to main part. Here we have to mix two 1) a cup of 'Kathae Kathae - Kadhal Jaathi' 2) a cup of 'Kattula Thalai - SMK'. Do that mixing for 2 minutes.

  I agree to certain extent on the Kodi yethi vaippom song. But again the tunes inside are recycled.

  I agree that the songs remind us lot of his previous works. Feels like Gnani is taking a short cut to catch the audiences attention. Weaving the previous string in new ones can make the song to cling to listener's lips easier and faster but never last longer, which i suppose IR never tried before but ARR is knowm for). However, ARR being the Zeidgiest now its hard for us (eventhough we call ourselves DIE HARD IR FAN) to accept Illayarajah's music as such. I can see myself yearning for a melody that is emphazized with clear and loud flow of instrumentals. This is how ROJA songs sounded first and i thought that was kinda different but this is what we are used to now. Dont forget in tamil cinema IR started out by breaking the rules and pushing the Instrumental music in par with Vocals from the backrow whereas ARR dragged it further up and established instrumentals in front of the vocal.
  What ever it may be, as always I count on IR with his BGMs that make the movie watching experience complete given the directer does his part right.

  good to hear that u too agree on 'kodi yethi vaipom'. my pick of the album is that song, especially the postlude. iam sure many women will 'saamiyaadi'fy in the theatre if the visuals support that part.its very sad that the song ends in 4 mins. IR cud hav streched that postlude to another 1 min.

  IR has been always delivering music quickly.. he has done that everytime with gr8 results.
  If IR takes more time than usual for BGM, then it means, it is remarkable.. it is never a let down

  IR delivered around 50 films on an avg each year during the years 1985,86,87. That makes just 6 days a movie for music composing & BGM Sessions. Even the movie 'Bharati' which had great BGMs were done in just 4 days. I've heard musicians say that while other MD uses Key Board / Harmonium for composing tune and then writing notes, IR just writes and delivers the notes to the orchestra even without listening to the tune, for the BGM Sessions. I guess, He should be one of the fastest composers of Music in India.

  Pithamagan is nice. Evokes nostalgia. Familiarity with other songs from the past seems to contribute as well. It is very IRish sense of celebration and festivities ushering in deepavali.
  
  I have been trying to understand the interludes of piraiye and elangathu. They seem so nebulous, how does one concieve such compositions and put it down in paper? Is it by trial and error that one crystalises or amalgamates such varied sound patterns?
  If there is somebody out there who can technically analyse the interludes and explain how the orchestration was accomplished it would be nice reading for all i guess.

  Songs in pithamagan, are definitely dissapointing to say the least! Of the dipawali releases the only movie with good song is JJ, all other are below average. I havent heard the ajith movie song so cant comment.
  In JJ most of the songs are great except one song, which is below average.
  This in contrast to last dipawali when all movies released then had great songs viz, villain, bagavathy, ramana.!

  Well, all of us have a right to put down our views, But look at the below post from hmmmm in a thread to discuss Anjanaya songs. After 4 minutes this guy have listened all the songs from the film and is giving a unbiased view.

  Rap is a genre of Music.. then what does EMINEM make.. a fool out of everybody?? he is the best white rapper, and gave a run for the money to everybody, Dr Dre (who is considered a king in Hot beats-- recent Coors Commercial) admires him. So surely dont tell information which is wrong..
