"Navarasa Nayagan" Karthik songs

Karthik is one actor who has gotten great music in his films thanks mainly to Ilayaraja, but there are others like Bharadwaj, Shanker-Ganesh, etc., who also chip out their hits in a Karthik film. Here are Karthik's greatest songs -

1)Kadhal Oviyum - (Alaigal Oivathillai). Ilayaraja should have won a national award for this movie.
2)Saagara Sangammame - (Seethakoka Chiluka)- wondeful, underrated song
3)Kaalai Nera Kaatae - (Bhagavathipuram Railway Gate) an obscure, but brilliant song by IR
4)Vaa Vaa Anbe and Rajadhi Raja (Agni Natchathriam). Just fantastic
5)All songs in Varusham 16 - especially "Gangai Karai Manandi". IR can't be beaten in classical.
6)Paadi Parantha Killi - (Kizhakku Vaasal) - A sad song, but one that is brilliantly orchestrated.
7)All songs in "Abinandana(telugu)" - dubbed in tamil as "Kadhal Geetham" especially "Kangaliley Kanavo". Another album that deserved the national award for IR
8)Oru Kadhal Devadhai - (Idhaya Thamarai) Shanker-Ganesh's best soundtrack in my opinion. Almost sounded IR-like.
9)All songs in Gopura Vasalile - especially the classic "Kadhal Kavithaigal.."
10)Maniay Mani Kuyile - (Nadodi Thendral) - IR's last with Bharathiraja. What a way to go out.
11)Thendralae Kandu Kolla - (Nilave Mugam Kaatu) -another fantastic, underrated album from IR.

So, there are my picks. There are much more but I can't think of it now. Anyway, I like for you guys to add your favorite songs in Karthik's films.

  'Vaana mazhai pole puthu paadalgal' is a fantastic song by KJY. Karthik and Kushbu starred in this movie.. I can't think of the name of it. Anyway, this songs has a very melodious tune and is a bit classical based. Excellent piece of work by IRaja (it somehow didn't hit big). There are a few other good numbers in that movie too.

  The song "Vaana mazhai" was from the movie "Idhu Namma Boomi" directed by P. Vaasu.

  Yep. 'Idhu Namma Bhoomi' also had 'Folkunna Folkuthaan', a melodious dappanguthu song in raagam Sudhadhanyasi, and 'Aaradhi Suvaruthaan', a Mayamalavagowlai [Vakhulabharanam?] based song with THREE charanams (a rarity for post-1982 IR songs). I don't know about the other songs from the film though.
  
  I recall, Ponnumani also had 'Aattu Mettula', a good melody in Mohanam, Misra Sivaranjini, or something along those lines. It also had 'Aadi Pattam', a catchy folk song, and a run-of-the-mill slow song 'Sindhu Nadhi Chemmeene.'

  Anybody remember songs from iLan JodigaL *ing Karthik, Radha, Suresh, Vijayashanthi, Karate Mani, Rajasulochana? I know it had few nice songs.

  There are some good songs from IR music like 'Aadai kondu aadum kodai megame' in a Karthik starrer 'Kelviyum naane badilum naane' , an early 80's film There is another good song 'Sorgathin vaasapadi' sung by KJY,Chitra and music is IR. I dunno the filmname. Karthik and Sitaara are the pair.

  Can someone post the name of the Tamil remake of the telugu film "Abhinandana" ? The first posting in this chain says that Kaadhal Geetham was the remake, but i cannot see that movie in many of the song sites.

  It is indeed "Kadhal Geetham" drizaii. The songs are not anywhere for some reason in tamil. In telugu, though, you can find it on a lot of sites. Great, classic songs from IR.

  "Gopura Vasalile" and "Varusham 16" are two of Karthik's best soundtracks. Both are by the great Ilayaraja.

  7. Enthan Valkaiyin-Chinna Kannama
  8. Maniye manikuyile-Nadodhi Thendral
  9. Oru pokkiri rathiri-Idhu Namma Boomi
  10.Gangai Karai-Varusham 16

  You're right raj. Ilayaraja provided a masterful album in "Kadhal Geetham" - "Abhinandana" in telugu. I felt he should have won a national award for this one.

  I agree with you Thileyraj. But since the original version "Abinandana" is in Telugu, it doesn't matters. But the songs are simply superb. Hope Ilaiyaraja gives us more songs like this.

  The music in Karthik's films, have always been great, in my opinion even though all of then haven't been a hit. And the majority of his films have been scored by Ilayaraja, so that's always a good thing. He's also had films scored by Karthik Raja, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Vidyasagar, Ravindran (Malayalam composer), D. Imaan, Bharadwaj, etc., so he's always had great music in his films. The only composer I can think of, who has not scored his film is the one and only A.R. Rahman. It'll be great to see them do a film together.

  Purv- 'Thaaye Neeye Thunai'-1987, had music by Ravindran. Karthik and Pallavi have a duet' Koo kuyiley kaathal kavikkuyiley'(SPB-VJ)

  I think Velu is talking about "Suyamvaram" with that whole big cast which included Karthik. Vidyasagar did indeed score for that film.

  Vidyasagar did score music for a song in the movie but it was not picturerized on Karthik. So you can not say that Vidyasagar scored music for Karthik songs.
