Hello Guys:
Here's a Folk tune with Nostalgic thoughts...

This page does not provide web space for hosting songs but just a platform to discuss the works. I suggest that you find some web space in one of the free space providers and paste the link here for us to listen and comment.

I didnt have the chance to listen to your piece fully but it was excellent. It comes across to the listener without much effort. I liked the rythm, it was not monotonic and dull. The picture that I get is that of a partying through a rainforest full of birds ... hope that is right!
There is a background hissing noise that you could probably get rid of easily.
I'll give more comments once I listen to it again sometime later.

Aditya,
Great work mate! Much respect. I liked the soft vibes sometimes, that creates a soothing effect. A mature percussion with brush taps and a cool "minty" kick, Bass work is also cool. Less strings put me off a bit, maybe you didn't want to use strings (?).
May I ask you, did you program the beats in FL? I get a distinctive feel of FL on the drumline. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Eswar

Anand, thanks for your comments...wait for more comments...
Eswar, Thanks for your comments...
I am glad it was making an impact, although i stayed away from usual way for the feel sake...
I am not a FL guy...I use Korg triton and battery. I used FL very long back that I am aware of it's nice features.

Aditya

Subbiah,
I guess you could register yourself in that site and upload your songs. It probably takes a day or two initially for your songs to show up. You will have your specific URL assigned (something with name in the URL). You could upload 10 MP3 files in it, I guess. If you had registered and uploaded already, you may need to wait for a day or two.

Aditya,
As always, it was nice to hear that piece.
Let me make an observation. I am really not sure why you call it 'Folk'. It sounds like any other pleasant piece of music to me. To make it sound as a specific genre of music, I guess, it needs to adhere to a specific pattern. For instance, when you listen to bluegrass, you hear that typical bonjo plucking which one instantly recognizes as belonging to that genre of music. I can't figure out why you classify your piece as Folk. Or is it that you play a raga that is supposed to sound 'Folk' and so you call your piece as Folk styled ?

Da Vinci:
Thanks for your comments. I am glad you appreciated it as a pleasant music.
I am not the guy who thinks that playing something in "harikamboji" raga makes it sound 'folk'. I was thinking about the mood that i can create with this p(l)easant music.
Genres and Styles have their own purpose and I am sure they will be familiar immediately to the ones who listened that genre earlier. I believe this is important sometimes.

Aditya

aditya, very nice catchy tune.. good work.
the backgrounds just needs minor tweak
I will talk about it,
for me the lead tune confirmed the mood.
We can change the backgrounds as we want.
If I could I will suggest a small change in backgrounds, reduce by 5bpm [currently 120 i think], just remove the tom/snare parts , this isthe distraction i see, and just replace it with plain shakers,
Retain the kick drum and bass..you have a hit...very good tune...keep it up. :)
pallavi gets my medal..:)
Good job.

Aditya, Sweeeeet!!. May I ask why u use the harmonium/accordion kind of sound in almost all ur scores?? That sound gives me a good deja vu feeling.
MS, Divakar and Anand, thanks for ur feedback. Will definetly work on those suggestions.

Atlast, I managed to get my page up at
http://www.ic-musicmedia.com/Subbiah
Currently I have uploaded one instrumental - Kaadhal Kavidhaigal.mp3.
Considering my 'not so sophisticated' instrument, Yamaha PSS51, pls bear with the odd sounding rhythm in Interlude no.2. However, kindly listen hold till the end of that interlude for Ilayaraaja's famous 'fading violin dialogue' ...

Sampath, thanks for your comments. listened to your mix...it's nice to listen how u compiled loops and mixed into a presentation.
Sam, thanks for that sweet comment.
Sometimes I feel like using Accordion kind of sound for expressive lead...But not necessarily always. I am glad it had a pleasing effect on your ears. I am doing "Water" theme and i will get it soon...
Subbiah, good job. Looking forward for more from you.
Regards,
Aditya
