Together with newtfmpage, we wish to make this the best place to listen to tamil film songs online and know about tamil film music. Our collection includes old, new, famous, rare and unheard of songs. We are still fine tuning and fixing the database errors, so please bear with us. We value your feedback, and this will help us build the site better. Please post your comments below or mail to comments@newtfmpage.com.

sk, that looks like a classy song. anuppunga, once you find it.
Saravanan, good writeup! How do they imply MRR "bedding his wife to death" ? :)

Saravanan:
Thanks for the detailed write-up, engrossing as always. Soon after Muthu leaves the house comes the sad version of 'kaalamidhu kaalamidhu'.. Vijayasri sings the 'mARum, kanni manam mARum' with great sadness.. Padmini then realizes how aptly her original song applied to the situation (she has marvellously shown many emotions throughout the movie just through her eyes) and completes the song while embracing Vijayasri. The sad 'sandhippOmA' comes a little later.
Regarding lyrics, all songs were by Kannadhasan, as far as I know. The movie titles also mention only K and assistant PA.
In our original PPP lyrics we made some slight errors in the last charaNam, which you have corrected.. 'kaalam vandhu thEdum' (Old age is when Death comes and looks for you) for example.
Thanks.
bb:
'sanginaal' is not really a song, but a situational lullaby. I will send it to you.

'laali laali
Varam thanda saamikku' from sippikkul muthu is an unforgettable lullaby

wonderful selection.....
i accidently found out this site last week.....first heard "vizhiyilE malarndhadhu" song.....just got hooked up and went through all the songs in the archives. whoever selecting these songs, hats off to him/her! most of the songs we would have heard sometime before....but after going thru the discussion it gives really different perspective and increase the pleasure of hearing it afterthat.....keep it up!
regarding p.susheela i want to add one more thing (in general)....she is matchless when coming to bhava(emotion?) part of the song....if u take "tamizhukum amudenru per" song, see for line "tamizhukum madhuvenru per" line....appadiyea kural kuzhaiyum (madhu kirakkam)...in the same song, while glorifying bravery of tamil (i forgot the line), her voice will show the braveness.....simply beautiful!

It is KRVijaya's expression that makes so unbareable to watch this song, IMO

bb :)) - I saw the film long back- but if I remember right, the pathetic story of how MRR's first wife fell on her death'bed' is related to Padmini by someone in the house- either Nagesh or Sundaribai. SK will be able to clarify.

sriram_sai ,
The lines of bravery in 'thamizhukkum amuthenRu pEr' are '...... engaL vayiraththin vaaL'
sk,
'sanginaal paal koduththaal santhana vaay nOgumenRu, thangaththaal paalaadai seidhu tharuvaaraam thanthaiyadi' or something to that effect comes in 'maaNikkath thottil'- 'raajaaththi peRReduppaaL raajakumaaran', when KRV is awaiting the arrival of a boy after 4 girl kids.

"Sandhippoma indru sandhippoma" was by Muthuraman and Vijayanirmala ('alek' Nirmala and W/o Telugu Actor Krishna) not that late Vijayasri !!

But, in the titles of chiththi her name is written as Vijayasri. May be she changed her name later.

Am sure about the change of her name; but am sure that the same actress acted in En aNNan with Muthuraman (KaNNukku theriyaadha andha sugam), Gnana oLi with Sivaji (Amma kaNNu summa sollu), PaNamaa Paasamaa with Nagesh (Elandha payam)... She is Vijayanirmala alais Alek Nirmala. Those days, there was vennira adai nirmala was also on cards, so after "panama paasamaa", our jounalists added a prefix for this lady as "alek" (vazha thandu pola udambu alek... nee vaariyaNachaa vazhukkariye nee alek...) :-)

Oops some obvious errors in posting... corrected version is:
Am NOT sure about the change of her name; but am sure that the same actress acted in En aNNan with Muthuraman (KaNNukku theriyaadha andha sugam), Gnana oLi with Sivaji (Amma kaNNu summa sollu), PaNamaa Paasamaa with Nagesh (Elandha payam). Hey, you guys at dhool.com are doing something awesome. I had the chance to hear some wonderful songs that I have not heard in ages. Thanks. If possible, will you guys please add the song "adi penney, ponnoonjal aadum ilamai" sung by Jency in the movie Mullum Malarum.

Song of the Day: vasantham paadi vara from rayil payaNangaLil.
http://www.newtfmpage.com/cgi-bin/stream.pl?url=http://www.dhool.com/sotd/vasantham.rm
- One of my favorite songs of T.Rajendar, for its liveliness and a fresh feel. S.Janaki has sung this song. I am never sure if the first line is "vasantham paadi vara" or "vasantham aadi vara". But, aadi vanthaa adhu summer season illiyaa, not vasantham :)
- Udhaya wrote this a couple of years ago on T.Rajendar:
As a poet, T.Rajendar is the king of unrequited love in TFM. His songs effulged grief with overwhelming polarities and abundant irony—just listen to Idhu Kuzhandai Paadum Thaalaattu, Kurudaana Kavingyanukku, Megamthaan Idhil Mazhaiyae Illai. Compared to TR's romantic grandiloquence (amudham endra sollai aaraaichi seivatharkku avaniyil avalae avadhaaram; aval mugavadivai manam paarththapinnae andha pournamiyai avan rasippadhillai), VM's forlorn lyrics come off as adolescent exaggeration.
TR showed a healthy indulgence in word play (IdhazhkaL oorumadi, idhazh kaL oorumadi) that was frowned upon by listeners used to Kannadhaasan's mature subtlety. But anyone relishing in his craft gets my respect. Listen to the many spins on the word "Shanthi" in "Amaidhikku peyardhaan shanthi". While his high profile hits were mostly sad songs, his happy melodies had some great poetry in them—vasandha kaalangal isaindhu paadungal, vizhigal medaiyaam imaigal thiraigalaam, indhira loagaththu sundari all had some great imagery.
As a musician, he charmed us with simple light music (nenjam paadum pudhiya raagam), catchy folk tunes (adi neelach chelai ravikkayila) and occasional classical ones (oru ponmaanai naan kaana). Though he has always had a core group that followed his stuff, musically or lyrically the media never gave him the respect he deserved. Kumudham used to refer to him as Karadi Raajendar, as if Vaali and Kannadhaasan were handsome men, as if it ever mattered how a poet looked. "Nenjil Oru Raagam" remains one of those grossly overlooked soundtracks in TFM. "Rail Payanangalil" got a lot of airplay for it's worst song, "Ada Yaaro" but every other song in it was good. "Oru Thalai Raagam" is unquestionably a milestone in TFM history.
Neels,
It doesn't surprise me that ARR is a fan of TR. Have you listened to "Moham vandhu thaagam vandhu ennai azhaikka" SPB brings down the house with this hip-hop delight. I feel this and other fast songs like "Unnaiththaanae Azhaikkiraen" by SJ were way ahead of their time and were precursors for the fast tunes by ARR, Vidhyasaagar, and Yuvan Shankar Raja.
As Rail Payanangalil has many doubts surrounding it, let me list the soundtrack information:
1) Vasandha Kaalangal—P.Jeyachandran chorus
2) Vasandham Aadi Vara—S.Janagi
3) Noolumillai Vaalumillai—TMS
4) Vasandham Aadi Vara—SPB
5) Ada Yaro—SPB
6) Amaidhikku Peyardhaan Shanthi-TMS
It's easy to deride TR on his failures, but his accomplishments stand tall.

Nice write-up, TR dared to experiment and that's why many of his efforts didnt click. I wish I had a copy of Limca Book of Records now to reproduce here what they wrote of him - he gets a sparkling mention in their pages for his multifarious talents.

TR probably didnt get enough respect because of his films which were atrocious to say the least.
As for his albums I liked his maiden one and a few assorted songs from the rest but the quality deteriorated rapidly.

Good song bb,though I like the SPB version. This movie was another crap from TR factory but SPB gave his extra bit (or TR gave him a free hand!) for TR those days.Yaaro pin paatu was another SPB freak out song.
Udhaya s observations on TR s lyrics -i beg to disagree. Those days he was the cine equivalant of Kalimuthu (Karuvadu meenagathu etc..)Still trying to figure out "Kuzhal Kattai Jalam".Idhaz KaL Urumadi ...good he chose to pun with Idhazgal and not with Urumadi as Vinai thogai!
I still have that doubt about AA Raj s contribution to Oru Thalai ragam and Vasantha Azahiapugal. This was the first movie TR did without Raj.Definietly the good tunes get drowned in poor arrangment.Just listen to "Deva Logam Azahithalum" from VA ,you will find the difference.
Produced by Jeppiar or Mylai Gurupatham i think, movie had a fair success at the box office after VA sunk.TMS despite complaints about "Raasiyilla Raja" sung "Noolum illai Vaalum illai".(Prob IR had cut TMS s valuthanam by then! NOM to either TR ot TMS!)
Srinath (Shanthi Krishna s one time husband) was ill at ease in front of the camera.Jyothi making her debut wanted to outdo Roopa of Oru thalai ragam .If you get a chance to watch this movie now you will find it a hilarious comedy.Strtched dialogues for adukku mozhi,Stupid college festivals, patheic acting...

OISG, is the Jeppiar you mentioned an ally of MGR, is he the one connected with Satyabama Engg Coll?
