7 to 5 is very good. It is a clear break from traditional 4-bar phrase based composition. At the same time it is not purely ambient too. It actually starts ambient and towards the end structure begins to emerge (even though my typical day it works the other way round!)
Others have commented on the plus points - sounds, sax playing style, drumming, chord progressions that take you to new places. In fact sax seems to maneover (kuzhaivu) so well.
Ending section, the strings and the flute are typical in your compositions, and can be avoided.
Good job!

Pop wake up: The piece is very good, and certainly a morning piece. However, wake up requires a gradual building of elements. You may try bringing in the tracks one at a time.
The melody is good.
Carnatic loop: I dont hear carnatic at all. Maybe my mridhangam font does not express what you intended! But the loop is very good and punchy.

Can we take a single theme and each composer build on it independently?
This will show how starting from same theme, different minds take it up in imagination differntly.
I am sure Comment's arrangement will make all of us seem dumb (has happened to me once. I sent him a theme in Madhuvanti and his arrangement was mind-boggling!) but if we are ready to take the hit on the self-esteem ;), we can learn...
What do you guys think?

AdityA: your Folkishwakeup song is really good. A simple theme and soft sounds make it an easy listening. I am not sure if it is really a wakeup song tho'. I will use it as an alarm once and let you know my feelings :-)

Friends: I will be moving out of Saint Louis soon! I want to give as personalized gifts to some of my friends out here, a compilation of what I consider as representative of Indian music. I plan to include some of the compositions posted here. If you do not want any of your compositions to be included please write to me.

Arul, NO probs if you wanted to include any of my comps; that would a great honor (to be on anyone's playlist!)
Let us know your playlist once you compile it. And it would be a good idea to send a copy to the included composers too...

Thanks Folks for your comments.
I have no problems if my compositions are qualified to represent our indian music.
Carnatic Loop - I wanted to try and understand how ARR has worked on Carnatic Loops in GentleMan song "en veettu thOttaththil" - Sounds Wonderful. I learnt that using live loops is better than using Sound Fonts.

Good soundfonts can create really good loops. My apologies to have given you such a bad sound font that you are cursing soundfont technology. I will give you a good mridangam font this weekend, and UV, the thambura.
Anyways, you are right,
MIDI is poor man's orchestra and soundfont is poor man's instrument. ;)

RJay: It was cool man. Espececially the guitar strum after the voice lead. The tones match real well.
Overall the music sounded coherent:
Heres a little on what I think you could have avoided -
1. Strings leading the voice at 0:42 - make it dull - because theres nothing to "back up".
2. The "country" rythm at 0:50 is cool. Voice lead sounds really good with guitar "country-style" picking following it (with the violin phrases). You could have avoided the flute there. Sounds very monotonous.
3. Once again string leading the voice with no proper harmony "runs" at 1:48 makes this dull. But theres something else I noticed. You went from Country - Jazz - and the strings lead kills everything with i-V7 arrangement. You could have avoided this.
But if you ask me, I would maintain a style in a song. That way, people will remember better. A style is not only based on the arrangement, but the instrument you choose. Of course you know this already - but just my 2 cents! Hope you dont mind!

Thanks for the feedback.
You are right. The flute lead is monotonous. I will cut it.
The string lead has a background. Once I was listening to a Celtic CD from Loreena McKennit and found that a theme was very similar to T.Rajendar's En kadhai mudiyum neramidhu!
Since I thought about it more than required, the same theme disguised itself and hit me when I made this composition as the string lead. I realized this after I released on the web.
You have brought an important aspect for discussion - How many style changes in a comp!!
Even though each one may make unique decisions, (that is their style(!), Let me try to put my thoughts:
While it is true that single style will improve coherence make melodies more memorable, it also makes the song monotonous. So actually I am trying to solve
the problem of seamlessly integrating styles!
In general, TFM has this tradition of mixing styles. IN olden days (KVM, Early composers) the same instruments would play throughout and style changes will just be rhythm changes (nadai). With MSV this trend changed (probably it happened in Hindi simultaneously too), every 4 lines (16 bars), the style would change. Basically style for pallavi and charanam would be different and the BGMs would have at least two different styles.
Ilayaraja furthered this trend by dramatically incorporating more and more diverse styles into the songs and putting in more silence. Of course sad, slow songs like Kanne kalaimanae tend to minimize the drama and style changes and extravaganzas like Vaa Vaa Vaa Kanna vaa and the MSV equivalent Oru raja raniyidam and ARR equivalent Poovukkul olinthirukkum go to the other extreme. KVM himself moved on to the style changing style later (Listen to aayiram nilave vaa - it has three style changes in the intro (within 30 seconds!!)
Sometimes I feel that so many style changes make the music somehow unstable or hyperactive or unsure (hope you catch what I mean) but then it depends on what mood you are trying to in-voke or what emotion you are trying to ex-press.
Among our own team, Srikanth used to change style every 4 bars (and he is back to a balance now). ;) Sridhar seems to follow the ARR approach - which is style changes are subtle and not dramatic. (in general)
I have noticed that UV and Aditya mostly stick to one style for the whole comp. And I have not yet heard to your overdue composition to see what your preference is ;)
Thanks again for detailed comments,
RJ

btw;I heard the lost world, sounds great with good delay usage and reverb placement,
sounds like sivaranjini at few places,
(btw: tabla seems out of tune to the scale).

Rjay,
Sounds like a tango at the start, the violin solo is fine, with some good harmony.
Followed by doo doo-voice, then a change over to muted guitar with some interesting bass parts. finally i think It is high time you get a better sounding keyboard or a module, the sounds are not so great, it is killing some good sounding parts.. The clarinet sound for pallavi can be changed to a solo trumpet with a deep room reverb. Like the bass "sound" needs more depth, sounds very light inspite of having a good score and playing technique.
Now tell me , I think I asked you this question before, what does snakes go to with this score ? :)
