There has been this image of IR being arrogant from his early days. I feel its more of lack of verbal communication from his part, and his peers being musicaly not par with him to communicate to him. What can you expect to a director, asking for Sitar type music for a scene.
Now let see who else is arrogant in TF world.
Rajni, made a sick statement that raja earns money on par with actor like him who work hard in sun. May be a joke but its unwanted. Is this a humble?
Kamal says he is bringing international std to kodambakkam. What is it about?. It may not be a direct statement, but he talks to that effect. The thing is, wasnt mahendran or others making movies of I std? Just because they are made in tamil without any 'inspiration' from hollywood, they are not upto I'std?. I'std comes when we make movies true to ourselves, not when they package india for foreign audience as in film like Kamasutra. Isnt kamal statements like last hope of TF arrogant?.
Rahman ignored IR name purposely in his early interviews when asked MDs whose music he admired. He said he is trying to bring some I'std to tamil music?. I can agree Tamil films are not great, but when music standard went that bad?. Best part was his claim that he used hollywood style of BGM. All his interviews he wants keep an separate identity, than other MDs as if he has got a dozen grammmys. Why cant he talk like a TFM MD?. Arent all these crap?.
SAR says he the melody king, himself!. so humble. Deva says all his copy is coincedence.

Is ARR indebted to IR? Why should he mention IR in his interviews? Whatever ARR has achieved is solely by his talent and not through anyone.

Aruvi,
Certainly not. ARR is not indebted to IR and he need not mention his name for sure. But certainly he does not call him as a 'Guy'. He need not respect IR's music geniusness. At the same time he should respect him for his age. Etho nera mela irundhu kuthiththavarai pola pesukiraar ARR. And he is still humble!
And IR need not give credit to anyone as he came on his own. Each and every note is his compared to other MDs who improvise with the sheer talent of their music players. No oooooooooo. IR can't do that. He is arrogant.

Guys
I dont know whether you are already aware of it.
The reason for ARR hates IR atleast have a grudge is because of personal reasons.
At the time when ARR was full peak in his Jingles career that time he tried to import some new Synthz from US which werent used by any of our MDS at that time. when ARR had a customs problem he said he was a keyboard player working for IR
so when customs for clearing enqd to IR and IR cooly said he didnt know anybody of that name.
The reason is IR personally felt bringing of hightech gadgets will spoil music(meaning his own career and competition) ARR suffered a heavy financial loss and was very hurt by what IR said
and thats why the grudge this i came to know thro one of my friend who is also a PSBB friend of ARR
ARR told this even in Vikatan interview without mentioning IRs name so I think ARR is justified.
But remember in the interview he said he is forgiven and forgotten all this old grudges..
And after Roja release we all know what happened next. I am skipping that part so as not to hurt IR fanatics.
Due to ARR we have got new approach to music good sound quality and new youth feel in music but the -ve side. As soon as IRs strong hold over TFM was broken new low quality MDS came out all over the place now all we have is some degraded, copy machines!! :( thats -ve side of it
though personally I dont think ARR is responsible for that.
Till todate the so called IR comeback never happened he is going deeper and deeper into self-pity!! :(
Hope his music project for Kanchi is a roaring success that way he would doing a great service to TN music in general!!

Ha..ha..ha... What's wrong in saying "guy". I was seeing an interview by Glen Mcgrath in TV. When he was praising Dennis Lillee he was just using words like "Guy", "This man" etc. What's wrong? If you become very formal then you become a hell.

People in west do the PRO nicely. But, it is still early days here. More over the magazines here are not in the range of "New York Times" or some highly acclaimed mags. Here you have got some magazines which have not more that 1000 copies in circulation and when such people ask silly questions then anybody might get angry.

I too remember reading this story. But, the person X is IR is a news for me. I read once ARR say that his father was the first in india to buy a costly synthesizer from Japan. Is this is what you are mentioning.
I won't comment on either way till I know the truth. I feel that some false image of ARR is built as if he hates IR. Why should we think in that way?
This is not a cinema, where a person has to use dialogs and say pages of it to praises someone. Each have got respect for one another. And its nothing wrong in persuing there own way of behaviour as long as it does not hurt other.

I am yet to digest what you are talking about. Oh...Oh..I got it. Referring somebody as "Guy" is mostly acknowledged in abroad. If a western man gives an interview in "The Times of India", it certainly won't be taken that seriously. This kind of usage is not yet popular in south india, but also sometimes considered as a "disrespect". Many Southindians raise their "eyebrows" when such a young person talks about a senior man both in "music and age". FYI, In western countries even son refers father as a "Guy". I wonder whether ARR will do the same.

one thing for sure
any musican goes thro a period during which start low and slowly goto the stop and reach the zenith and after that a straight line and then finally they go down in case of IR he has already gone down the chart as far as TFM is concerned there is no doubt about that. I remember an interview he was lamenting about how nobody wants his music anymore eventhough he is giving different tunes sad indeed. I am not judging his musical abilities he can do many wonders only thing is that his days in cinefield is over.
But for a genius like IR his real musical journey is only getting started this what i understand from his recent speech in Pondi.
(May be he have big surprise up his sleeve!!)
For any musician this curve is true same will be true for ARR tomorrow.

UV,
How did you come up with a "Career Response Curve' for musicians ? I guess X axis is time and Y is what ? # of movies, salary ?? Any statistics, control studies ? :) Maybe got influenced by the rise/sustain/decay characteristics of notes. You should probably publish it in some sociology research journal :)

"any musican goes thro a period during which start low and slowly goto the stop and reach the zenith and after that a straight line and then finally they go down"
1. This curve concept fails when it comes to subordinate musicians. It follows more a zig-zag pattern than a "bell shaped curve" for these musicians (try to make an imaginary plot for SAR)
2. This plot needs some basic number as one can not plot a curve with two points or less. So new MD's have to be excluded.
3. Since , 'y' axis is undefined, I assume it to "no. of movies. In that case, this boundray condition is "language". A musician, who fails to shine in Tamil may do well in Telegu. Ex. MM Keeravani. It is hard to plot an 'totality curve' for these kind of musicians. His plots for Tamizh and Telegu looks entirely different.
4. If the curve is normalized then it can not be used as a comparitive curve.
5. The curve must be redefined as "distribution".
With lots of "if"s and "but"s the curve may approach "reality".
Many other distributions associated with human limitations follow the same trend.
Age vs Time
Health vs. Time
Activities vs. Time
Crativity vs. time (but not always).
The simple reason is all are natural and more importantly, time-dependent factors.

UV;
I thought you were posting it to share knowledge to people. But if it is to hurt IR fans purposefully (as you have mentioned in your following posting) then essence of it is lost. You
also ironically imply kiru (genuine) and CF (who claims himself to be listeners of all) are not IR fans. What about you then? Interesting!!
Please give some time for people to respond. Everybody is not a "vetti" like me (&....) to respond in minutes!!
