Talking about copying and Kamal Haasan...what about Avvai Shanmugi and Mrs. Doubtfire? Ironically the music for this movie is DEVA!

In my personal opinion, if I were to summarize everything, i think there are many +'s and -'s to Deva debuting up north. I do agree with Suresh Kumar abt the repetitive Hindi songs! maybe I don't have an appreciation for Hindi songs but mostly all the ones I hear on tv with the exclusion of the hits A.R.R and Shankar has given, they pretty much sound the same. So its good to have a tamilian to 'kick it up a notch' (hehe).
But yeah, I do agree that its no fair for him to lazily copy all the songs. BTW, just wondering, was there a hit (excluding his ghana songs which in my opinion, I see nothing in) that Deva gave to TFM that WASN't A COPY???

IF DEVA GOES NORTH
ANNU MALLIK WOULD FACE A STIFF COMPETTITION NOT AS A MUSIC DIRECTOR BUT AS A FELLOW COPYCAT.THE COPYCATS DEVA AND ANNU MALLIK WILL HAVE TUFF TIME
COMPETING WITH EACH OTHER

~~arochordidae~~, there were MANY hits that Deva gave which were his originals and are npt Ghaana songs(or perhaps I just wasn't able to identify the songs as a copy, maybe someone can tell!)
They are:
1. Muthal Muthalil Paarthen - Aaha
2. Vanakkam Vanakkam - Seenu
3. Kujalamba Kujalamba - Seenu
4. Kaalamellam Kaathal Vaalge - Kaathal Koddai
5. Oru Kaditham Eluthinen - Deva
6. Yean Pennendru Pirenthaayo - Love Today
There are many more, but I couldn't think of any now.
Perhaps someone can validate these songs as I beleive they are some of the best that Deva ever gave!

kaduppu - can you give more information about the movie "All About Bob"? Is it the English version of "Thenali"? I did a search on the net and this is all I can find :
http://www.german-cinema.de
/archive/i/itsallbob_E.html
It doesnt SOUND like "Thenali" at all. Perhaps I got the wrong movie?

Maran,
Whether these songs are original or not, I don't know (Frankly after listening to 'n' number of Deva Originals in English, I am not ready to believe he did even a single Original song.,)
But No. 6 is not by Deva., Its by a new Music Director 'Siva' from movie 'LoveToday'.,

'mudhal mudhalil paarthen' from aaha is a note to note copy of the hindi song 'sochenge tumhe pyaar' from Deewana starring Rishi Kapoor, SRK and Divya Bharathi. Music: nadeem Shravan.
Kaadhal kottai's kaalamellam kaathal vaazgha is ditto copy of a song by Kenny G in his sax, though I couldnt recollect the name of the song now. Its a very popular song though by Kenny G.
There's no point talking about original when the subject is Deva.

1000% correct. I was about to say, but you made it. I think one more song in that film is a lift.
Love today is by Siva. Even this is right.
Devavukkum originalitikkum sambandame illa paa. Its a universal truth.

OK guys, :D...point taken. I give up myself. Shall we all stop listening to Deva now? Kind of hard isn't it since he's doing music for 3 to 4 out of every 10 Tamil movies that comes out. He's like a plague that we can't stop and hence have grown accustomed to.
Just because we are discussing all this things here, and easily identifying Deva's music as a copy from this and that, Deva will still be making music everyday and in the process, get RICH.
With the amount of trashing that Deva gets in this site alone, why not we all stage a campaign to STOP LISTENING TO DEVA? We stop buying his Audio Cassetes, Audio CD's, and never give credit to any of the music he composed. We even stop downloading his MP3 for free from the NET. Let's put DEVA out of business!
This campaign will be as successful as trying to stop VCD Piracy in Malaysia! WHich means, it's not possibble at all.
His plague is spreading to Hindi movies now, and if he manages to make his mark and gets accepted there (with the likes of Anu Malik already creating waves) I think it's time we all start to REALLY WORRY!

Kali kalamidhu..when anu malik claims he's the
most original composer (in his interview with rediff (?) ), nothing wrong in deva going there
and giving some original scores.

Deva uses Hindi playback singers like sukhwinder, Shankar mahadevan, Hariharan, Anuradha podwal, Kavitha krishnamurthy etc in tamil films. The worst is the 'Eswara' song with literal 'language killing' by the calcutta singer.
Can he or will he ever introduce tamil'nadu' singers in Mumbai? Does he have the guts to do it?
There are few names of singers like Selvakumar, Sirkali, Maharajan, Deepan, Kala, Sasirekha, Vidya and many more talented singers given a cold treatment by Deva and other TFM MDs. DO YOU HAVE THE GUTS DEVA? OR ARE YOU YET ANOTHER OPPURTUINIST MD FROM CHENNAI TO MUMBAI?

If you don't know the facts , you could have asked for it, but you have pout down a sarcastic statement.
He has given chance to many south singers in hindi. Let me put in what I remember right now.
1. M.G. Srikumar.
2. srinivas.
3. anuradha sriram.
4. mano
5. hari haran
of course SPB, janaki etc.
How much have other MDs from south given chance to south singers in hindi.?
Can any body say what KR did with grahan? I forgot.
or can anybody say how much did M.M kareem had given to southies when he composed some couple of movies in hindi.
If your intention is to just accuse ARR and by that have a good sleep at night then I don't want to spoil that.

CF, M G Sreekumar sang only the malayalam part of the dil se song, afaik. has he sung any Hindi song ?
And hariharan is not from the south. he was born & brought up in the north, and his hindi is much better than his tamil.
Anyway, why do u want south singers to sing hindi songs ? to get even with the northies for butchering tamil ? an eye for an eye ?
as for grahan, KR didnt use any south singers. all the songs were sung by north indians. and KR rarely uses northies in tamil songs (at least not as much as arr).

Ravi Shreekumar sang 2 songs in 'kabhi na kabhi'
in ARRs music.

joking rite?:)90% of the female voices in his songs are from north.

God. This is what I call a biased outlook. Let me give you just one example here. I use to see this song in TV many times and mostly for prabu deva's dance. Its from a film called "Naan iruvar N..I.." the song is "I lasa I lasa ..ice katti suttichcha" song.
Also, who has sung the kaasu mela kaasu vachchu song.
As far as ARR using udit or SS is concerned. What I remember is the last film udit has sung for ARR is for Rythm and SS has just sung two or three songs of ARR like the
1. "Lukky lukky" from ratchagan
2. pallavi of "thyya thyya"
and one or two. I am not able to recollect now. If there is any more...let me know.
Also, ARR has given chances to singers like
Febi, clinton , mahalakshmi etc in hindi. They are very much tamil singers.
MGS has sung the "meri saari subho me" from kabhi na kabhi. This song was latter copied not by note by deva in the film "nenjinile" as "manase manase kuzhappam enna"
