Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”

Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.

Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

  Box office result of all summer releases:Biggest hit is Gilli.Perazagan&Aethirre(As spelt in movie title,numerolagy i guess)are average,Arul&AE flop.AE doing extremely well only at Satyam(Why only there?)&rest of tamilnadu embarrasing colletions.Like Anbe Shivam,another good movie goes down the drain.Let's hope like Kamal,Mani also doesn't give up&will come back with renewed vigour very soon(No 2 yrs gap b4 next movie).

  Sify is all wrong here are some aniticipated reactions:
  
  Dinesh - Sify is all wrong they are against ARR. They claimed Roja flop in 1993 and you all know what happened
  
  C~P - I know why AE running houseful in Satyam because I buy all the tickets and distribute it for free. Why still the seats are empty eventhough I had an houseful sign on hmmm..
  
  Piratheepan - producers made all the money then the movie is a hit. Who cares about distributors making money? I am the No: 1 trader of all don't you think?
  
  paran - I sold the tickets in black with less than the price also telling the people its for the movie Gilli. I saw them getting refund in the counter and buying tickets for Gilli.
  
  Ferrari - the movie ran atleast a week is because of ARR.

  Hey Ram is a classic. A totally different approach in TFM and HFM. It was very original. After watching it I was sure that it will not be a hit. Sure enough it was a BIG FLOP...In HeyRAM Kamal was in every frame. His flashbacks show only what happens in front of him no side track comedy etc..people getting kidnapped etc..What a novel effort, original story, class act..
  
  If HeyRam is classic flop movie with team effort AE is an ordinary flop movie with excellent visuals.

  If you spend the same time, you could find same number or more such meladies from other MDs like Deva, Yuvan, Vidyasagar etc.
  
  Point is, a few good songs don't make a MD great. When you place ARR on the same pedestal with the legends like KVM, MSV or IR, then you have to compare their achievements in entirety.

  Tom, if you read Gyan's response, he had explicitly asked whether ARR could do that. So I gave examples, confirming, IMO, that ARR indeed has numbers to his credit satisfying Gyan's criterion. Sure, other MD's also have that, but that was not the point I was answering.
  
  Placing ARR on the same pedestal as KVM, MSV, IR, is premature, IMO. At the same time it is wrong to totally put him down, like some do.
  
  Anyway, a few years down the line, we will know definitvely where ARR's place will be. So why bicker unnecessarily now?
