To all the critics of ARR's padmashri:
I can just laugh at all the fools crying inside and making the silliest comments simply because the cannot face OBVIOUS AND direct facts, the fact that ARR IS THE GREATEST OF THE LOT. He has PROVED, He just PROVED it and will go on PROVING that he is. You know what you people remind me of .......... the fox and the sour grapes.HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Just wondering who is/are the politicians who would recommend ARR for Padmashri? My assumption is...... maybe he would do it because ARR might compose a music for his election campaign, maybe release an albumb for him, or ........ something else that sounds "logical" as you people have been writing.
I am sure each and every single person criticising the award to arr is a hard core IR fan. I dont blame these people calling the award corrupt after
its human nature.
But let us learn, that padmashri is THe AWARD, not somethiung like the screen awards we see. ARR got it because he deserves it, IR didnt get it because he dosent deserve it.

Well said Mr.Bala!...
----------
I sincerely doubt the tamil pattru of ARR. During Kalaignar's 75th birthday celebration in 1998, ARR sang the hindi version of Vande Matharam. I dont see the need to sing a hindi song in such a function.
--- we forget that we are INDIAN!....first.
:-)))
Moderators of this page, are they enjoying this sadistic pleasures! of arr bashing.....:-)),

And for those who start any discussion with some snide comment on ARR being a sound engineer etc etc, may I ask-- WHO ARE YOU? I mean, what exactly have you achieved in music apart from tagging your name onto IR as his fan? You are just making yourself look so cheap and pathetic--sorry to say. Just shut up and get your mind out of the rut that has set in. None of these great people need your "input"
May I humbly ask who you are to ask somebody to shut up ? If you are the moderator of the forum, you are all set to do the same. This is no place to command.
Agreeing to the fact that the views expressed are those of non-experts, I must also raise a question regarding the GREATS. Who made them great ? Talent is a blatant waste without proper recognition. It is the recognition which makes the artists "great". This is intended to be a DF where IMO, everybody is free to express what they feel about a particular topic in a courteous manner. To my knowledge this has been the case for the past three years and I wish it stays the same in the future instead of it turning into a plastic moulded exclusively by autocratic individuals.
In a DF, there is bound to be a distribution of populace. It is intended more to be a place where you exchange fruitful ideas than indulge into reckless mudslinging or dictatorial dissertations. So please tone down..
Padmashri :
Please come out of delirium :-)
Vanavaasam:
Do you feel different from the the moderators when it comes to IR ? :-)

Jananaayagam, Here is the rebuff to Anantharaam -
Better you shut up and have your concocted sermons delivered at some egroups where there might be persons willing to lend their ears to you. You have no right to slam restrictions on people who have been expressing their views freely and in a dignified manner.

MS,
Think openly, don't you think/feel things are going beyond control in this thread,
leave ir and arr, many postings makes mockery of our national awards,
--- dignified manner, fruitful talks
That seems to be missing here in this thread.

making fun of me is the easiest thing you could achive in this world,:-)), that too somewhat knowing me well, you have achived it, so what next?

Vanavaasam:
oooo..donot take it too personal. It was a comment made in a very(^n) lighter vein. I was just trying to emphasize on the fact that moderators have been doing a good job right from day 1. Though they are no objects above crticizms, their intentions and actions have been upto the mark till date. Inspite of their personal biases, they have been doing a good job. To say they are sadistic is an exaggeration to an order unacceptable. If that remark was for fun, my remark against you was also at the same intensity :-) I mean no offense.
But, I do agree that there had been much malice thrown on the National Awards themselves. But are they above criticizms ? IMO, no. By criticizms, I definitely mean those, content of which is objective and not the " I donot like - so it is not good" type.

Mr Dennis,You are insinuating that A.R.R. is a mere sound engineer. There can be only two reasons for this. Either you are biased or you dont have good taste. So there is no point in my trying to talk to you about the virtues of A.R.R.s music.I actually feel sorry for you.You were talking about my angry sentiments.Noway am I angry but pained-yes-when I see A.R.R. being treated in this scornful fashion by people who speak without thinking.Dennis grow up and be mature. And who is this other chap, Rajan, is it.You seem to have done a thesis on A.R.R.s unorginal style of composing. You were also very upset with his getting the Padma Shri and raised quite a stink.Rajan, what are your credentials? Have you composed anything in your life?If you have the juice in you then go, try to achieve something in the music field.Do you something -the minute you compose your first note you become humble, you start respecting others, you start growing .Finally I would like to request all you guys to just enjoy music whether it is A.R.R, I.R. or anyone.

Having met Ganagi Amaran(the all too haughty brother who is Ilayaraja's spokes-person), I can only say that Ilayaraja's downfall was due to his ARROGANCE. This is something you will not find in Rahman!

9 out of 10 in india will know superstar rajini....poularirty is one of the criteria for awards!....and popularity does not come just like that, we need to earn and then should know to maintain it...which superstar does it perfectly. we are slowly degrading other artists just for the sake of --?
ab; you will soon get a reply here --- amar is a traitor- does not know nothing about music...bla bla bla...just wait and see....:-))

My Dear Genuine Musician,
Thanks for your response to my posting in this thread. I am not a hardcore fanatics of Ilaiyaraja and I do not profess to be so. If I have communicated in that way I am sorry for that. When you say ARR is not only a sound Engineer but also a good musician I welcome and respect your views. You have willingly or unwillingly avoided a question that I had posed to you in my earlier posting. I am not a musician. But I have been playing Tabla from my childhood and I play Guitar and Harmonium. I learn classical Karnatic for only one year and after that on my own I learnt some 100 ragas. I have composed a lot of devotional songs. Unfortunately for want of money I have not produced cassettes. This is my back ground. But I am not anywhere near you people who are musicians. Genuinely without passing any judgement on ARR I am just curious to know what exactly is his contribution to Music? I am really unable to understand. I know that his songs like, Chinna, Chinna Asai, Ennavale...are good melodies. Composing a few melodies cannot be taken as one's unique contribution. The songs I like need not necessarily be liked by you, and vice-versa. Taste is relative. Here we are not discussing about tastes which are not absolute but are relative. But we are interested in a non-biased and genuine analysis of Music. Can you please tell me what exactly is ARR's contribution to music in general and to Tamil films in particular?
(By the way thanks for encouraging me to grow in maturity. But I really wonder how mature it is to call a person 'chap'. Please do not mistake this for my retaliation.I was just shocked to see such a word being used in this decent forum by a self-proclaimed matured person, you)
Looking forward to your highlights on the unique contribution of ARR to Music.
Bye
