Guys,
7GRC's preview is coming on tv channels now. Yuvan has come up with a different theme music this time. Any thoughts?

I just saw the movie 7/G Rainbow Colony and ohhhhhhhhhhhh whatttt a movie!!!!.......its so natural,so very well scripted with excellent screenplay and amazingly real-life dialogues...the ending is what u must see and understand what the director has come to convey to today's youth......a story very well told....no one else has even remotely touched this subject.....if u have not watched the movie till now u have truly missed out something.....there are just two classes of people-ones who have watched 7/g and the rest of whom are going to watch it!!!

I never seen a movie well received like 7 G. after Autograph, Kudaikkul Mazhai this year. This is what you call consensus.

Vikatan gives 46 points to 7GRC.
I happened to read the first negative review in Dinamani. They give positive reviews for all movies including masalas, this is the first negative one I think.

Here is the first negative review on 7 GRC. I am for the negative review but they should never give out the plot. Avoid this review if you don't want to know the ending of this movie.

I think Selva raghavan is obsessed with Teen Age Love ...Just exploring with different angles ,with different characters ...
I fear he may be stereotyped as a Teen Age director who takes only movies based on love ....Like Ram Gopal Verm atake sonly on Gangsters and Horror movies ..They are excellent directors but never complete ....
I hope SelvaRaghavan does something different with AJith's mOvie ( supposed to be on Gangsters ) ...We need films like virumaandi ,AUtograph ,Ayutha Ezuthu which have different way of narration .....

With 7GRC, I think YSR has elevated himself to reach new heights for himself with his excellent BGM score which relies heavily on WCM orchestrasation, just like his father, the master of BGM in Indian Cinema. Sad that the 'Ninaithu ninaithu' by Shreya Ghosal didnt find its way into the movie, but with such an ending, imagine Sonia Agarwal singing that song at such a situation with those wonderful lyrics... that would have been really tremendous.
We are badly in need of more good BGM scorers for Tamil cinema. And of course, movies with scope for such a good BGM rather than the usual 'dandanakku-danakkunakku' stuff.

I am in the US. It has been a while since I watched a tamil movie(the last one being virumaandi). I got taken in by the reviews on the net and decided to watch(go to the theatre)7G-RC. The movie runs for 3 hrs and I was getting impatient since the ending was a drag.
I have to say that the movie did not work for me. I just dont see a smart, pretty north indian girl falling for the colony roudy. Kathir keeps telling that he is good for nothing and then expects her to love him. When in love, you present yourself as best as possible...that is reality.
This movie is full of half baked ideas..and the director fails.
That is not to say there are no +ves. Sonia agarwal is a talented actress. Her facial expressions are amazing and the camera homes in on her face many a times. Vijayan as Kathir's father steals the show. The comedy is good in parts. I particularly liked the cricket field scenes. Two songs are good and repeat hearings will only make you love the music. The technical aspects like editing, camera work are neat.
To me it felt like a waste of resources...

The reviews are misleading.
I read rediff review by Shoba Warrior and decided to watch it.
My opinion - Disgusting movie.
That hero is downright nauseating.
Heroine's characterization is very incoherent.
YSR's BGM is the only +ve point. Like father, like son!

"7-G Rainbow Colony has grossed Rs 6.27 Crore in its first week in Tamilnadu from 118 prints, which confirms it as a blockbuster in the making. The film made at a cost of Rs 3 Crore has turned profitable in its first week itself!"
How much the above can be true? A small calculation:
1. Say the 118 prints are screened in 125 theatres (orE print'ai sila samayam 2 theatres use paNNum, with a time lag)
2. @4 shows, this means 500 shows a day or 3500 shows for the first week
3. Considering average of 300 seats (considering that places like madurai thangam have got converted into super markets, this is a big number), this will mean 1.05 mn viewers.
4. Conceding that all bought tickets, what will be the average cost of a ticket for grossing 6.27 cr? Rs 60...even for grossing 3 cr it will be around Rs 30...
kadhula poooo...or may be film tickets in TN have skyrocketed of late...
