  THE HINDU'S REVIEW ON KK
  Yuvan Shankar's Raja's pleasing melodies bear a strong ILAIYARAJA influence. "Devadhaiyai Kandaen" (Harish Raghavendar) and "Nenjodu ... " touch you. Unnikrishnan's (with Sujatha) rendition of the latter is particularly appealing. All the same it is the theme music in the climax that bowls you over. The dance and stunt choreography for the scene, Dhanush's reactions, the ambience — everything about the sequence deserves applause. But Yuvan could have gone a little milder in the rerecording at some places, where the music is almost a din.
  long back we decided YSR is following ARR. now the trend seems to change he is back to with IR infuence. thats gud to hear and let him continue in the same path....

  i totally agree that YSR is changing his style and movin towards IR style... hope he does not move into "Hardcore-Dandanakka" and "Monotonous slow melodies"...... hope he gets a fine balance of ARR and IR...

  maddy here we agree on an issue then u come up with.....
  y do u always try to term IR to be hardcore dandanakka. may be in his whole career he had done around 15% of dandanakka songs but he was not only famous for those kinds of songs.

  yaa dude , we finally agree on YSR's change..i also mentioned the "Monotonous Melodies" of IR...... almost 90% of IR's songs had a "Dhavil" or a "Tabla" background....it bcame highly monotonous,though his tune was flawless..... infact i feel, that is the only reason y ARR became a sensation overnite.. cos he changed the sound of beats in 1992....

  IR is good for Tamil Folk
  
  ARR is great in Indian Folk like 'Radha Kaise na Jale' - Lagaan , 'Kariye Naa' - Taal etc.
  
  I think both forms of folk is great.
  
  I am happy IR is the legend of Tamil folk.
  
  I am also happy that ARR is not doing the same tamil folk thing and doing something different in the form of Indian Folk and western music.

  although ive given the reasons for ARRs success in many of my previous posts ur once again mud slinging on IR that his compositions became monotonous.
  till 1992 IR was dominating the industry like anything. and i think his style took a change frm the film mounaragam [ or agni antchatram is it????], continued in many films frm then on till kadalukku.when his own style had taken a change how come u term that it sounded monotonous.
  my personal calssification of IRs compositions where a definite style change occured were something like this
  1.1976-1980 i cant say which film exactly cos i was too ung to keep track and i feel it took a change in these period when i listen to his compostitions pre 1980 and post 1980
  2.1980- somewhere in mid 80's with the release of vikram/mounaragam/agni natchatram
  3.1987- 1997 with the realease of kadhalukku mariyadhai
  4.there may be a change in the near future i expect
  eventhough many of my friends [IR fans] feel that his late 70's and early 80's songs to be great i think the period of late 80's and and early 90's are the best of IRs compositions.

  maddy basically i think these movies r not to be termed as pornos. even IR had composed for movies like aazhiyatha kolangal adn kaamagni etc., and ARR had composed for fire. i think theres is nothing wrong with an MD to compose for such movies. and if sam thinks its wrong i dont want mudslinged at YSR alone for composing for such movies.

  Sex-based movies are a gr8 challenge that every MD has to take up... but the sex displayed shuld be graceful and not cheap.... anyone here thinks TIATNIC's drawing scene was cheap...it was graceful, but thulluvatho ilamai was utter cheap... 20 yr-old like me couldn't watch it ,then forget my parents and grannies...
