  Whenever ARR is asked about who/what does his attribute his success to , he says:
  
  "Ella pughazhum iraivanukke."
  That is,
  "The credit goes to God"
  Now, Does he mean the above oor does he mean:
  "Ella Pugazhum IR-AVANUKKE"
  "The credit goes to him-Ilaiyaraaja"!!!

  In the "Best of 1998" survey, there are various choices for Best MD , Best Singer etc.
  
  But I was surprised to find that ARR's name was not there among the BEST SINGER(MALE) choices.

I think AR Rahman can sing him in tamil and make all people enjoy and dance. My frend told Ilaraja going to give new album called 'sympny' . He face problems.   ayya singhu, what makes your friend to say that he knows more swaras. Kindly tell your 'world class' singer that knowing swaras is different from knowing alphabets. And for god's sake , donot tarnish the image of IR by even dreaming about this creature singing for him.   Singh sir, I will give you an idea. Our great DEVA sir has been dreaming of a 'symphony' project lately. May be he can have a joint venture with Anu Malik in making one such miserable album and have your Daler sing in that.   I read recently that Mahendi sang himself in Tamil in the nwe coca-cola ad.! He chose to sing only in Tamil, Punjabi and Hindi, while the other languages were dubbed by somebody else (source: Week). Perhaps preparing for a call from ARR?

  Let me have the pleasure of introducing Ravi Manian, poor man's.. well, he is poor man's Ravi Manian too, because he is in a class by himself. We have had many discussions/arguments/attacks on the subject of IR vs. ARR vs. MSV or SPB vs. HH vs. KJY etc, etc. Quitely without anybody noticing, our friend Manian hs sneaked up on us and carved out a niche market for himself. Can one call Ravi (as he is known to his inner circle of friends) a revolutionary within the world of music. Well of course! We have had too many generations of musicians trying to start a song in a particular scale, continue the song in the same scale and (surprise! surprise!) finish the song in the same scale. BORING! If you asked me. Well, not with Ravi - No Sir! Ravi makes the composition interesting by offering a generous dose of different scales within the same song. If purists fail too see this generosity, then, I think the problem lies with them. Ravi's experimentation does not stop with scale (sruthi). He offers us a unique exposure to the laya/tala structure too. Ravi, the Main Man, also thankfully exposes us to the serious limitation of Karaoke music and especially its limitation to not react real time to his changing pace and beat styles. Can somebody come up with an artificial intelligence software, which can make Ravi's background music catch up with his mood swings (and beat and tempo) swings ? Till then lesser mortals will come to the obvious yet erroneous conclusion that Ravi is missing beats and tune.Tsk! Tsk! While all of Ravi's renditions are gems, Anbey (Kadhal Desam), Haayo Rabba (Daler Mehndi! We have an answer for you), Chinnak Kannan (We will not spare Dr. Bala Murali Krishna either) deserve special mention.
