Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....
Also; use this thread to discuss this album..
Here is what i found::
Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.
Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.
In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.
Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.
For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

V, I can see your frusturation at its best. Phoniness is apparent in your postings!!!
TI and Kadhal Konden where straightly accepted because the came with a 'A' certification. These movies had what was expected.
Boys, has something that was not accepted. It is Shankar's hypocrisy at its best. I don't want a flop. Particularly when the Tamil movie industry is reshaping. At the same time, let us not sacrifice quality, and try to imitate the westerners. When it comes to music, ARR is being over hyped atleast by his fans, if not in the industry. YSR, VS and HJ are composing music as good as ARR once did.

Rajesh,Checkout and V,
i wanted the movie BOYS to be a flop only bcos it had too much of westernised music init. and iam against this so called 'globalization' which is gonna ruin our lives and make us slaves to MNCs for another 300/400 years.
to be frank i wanted Iruvar and kananthil muthamittal to become hits, not bcos it was a film by MR but they were sensibly made movies (though i am strongly against MRs twisting of historical facts). and these movies had ARRs music in it i belive. how many of u wanted siraichalai or heyram to become hits.
V,
u hav started accepting that shankar shudve refined some scenes. get back to old responses and see how u hav supported the movie at the beggining. calling others hypocrites who said the movie was vulgar.
In Dinamani they have put an ad asking every family to see the movie as the vulgarity is now removed.......
lol if this claim is right we will be left around with around 1.5 hrs of movie only. IMO if shankar wanted to delete those scenes bcos of public uproar he cudve taken back the movie frm theatres and reshooted the whole movie :--)

To all ARR fans,
this is frm the above link.
"padathin aabasa katchigalai paarthu pinnani isai korakka Rahman maruthu vittathaal, avarthu uthaviyaalaar praveen mani than pinnani isai amaithullar...."
now u all can say the movie is vulgar and Shankar deserves this flops. no need for u to unnecessarily support the movie :--)

hahaha. The preview show story is really funny. Since it is not meant for family viewing, I don't understand how this guy Shankar invited these people with families. hahaha :))

Good blow to Shankar who teams with ARR and comes up with mediocre films. Most of his films were saved by ARR's exceptional music.
The only good film till date from Shankar is Indian.
Even the block buster Mudhalvan had some crazy ideas like one day CM jumbled with crap songs like Uppu Karuvadu, etc. I personally did not like the movie.
Good blow. All big producers will not shy away from him. He spends too much for evey movie except his own production.

Few months back, one web magazine reported that Praveen mani had his hands in the BGM dept and some songs. These arr fans denied it outright and wrote that everything was done by arr himself as if they were with him. They said that it was a rumour blah blah blah. Now every mag writes about it. hmmm
There are lot of things to write about arr's sify interview, later..........

just for ur info anti-boys/shankar/arr :
For the past one year, Tamil cinema had been obsessed with youth culture and youthful films. 'Boys' is Shankar's expensive addition to this list.
The story resembles that of 'Thulluvatho Ilamai', so you are able to predict the twists and turns in advance. The only difference is- in 'Thulluvatho Ilamai', the story ends with the kids running away from their homes. Here, the story goes a little beyond and shows them succeed in their chosen professions.
Siddharth, Nakul, Manikandan, Bharat and Sai are from different colleges with different family backgrounds and with special talents in different aspects of music. They are inseparable buddies. Their only passion is girls and they would do anything to get a second glance from these girls (All these scenes are so full of youthfulness and energy!).
Harini arrives in the scene as the friend/girlfriend of these boys. Siddharth does something revolting for her and love blossoms between them. But, when the families come to know about it, they become very strict on them. So, with the help of Vivek, they elope to Thirupathi and get married. After winning in love, they swear to succeed in their lives too and the whole gang leaves home.
They begin to suffer when they run out of money. Vivek intervenes and with his help, they discover their musical talent and try to bring it out tot eh rest of the world. They form a band named 'Boys'. Just when everything is going smooth and they are going to make it big, a tiff erupts between the newly married. It is resolved and all ends well.
The hairstyles and costumes of the boys reflect the kind of styles we see in our everyday lives. There is no artificiality in the way they run behind girls (even women sometimes) for date or renew their friendship when they get into troubles and when they work hard to fulfill their dreams. All the scenes are very enjoyable.
Bharath's dance skills are wow! Devayani's brother Nakul has a very charming smile. Don't be surprised if the hairstyle becomes a rage in future.
Throughout the film, Siddharth has a longing in his eyes. Harini fits the role of a rich girl perfectly well (they have a good onscreen chemistry too). Sai, who gets drunk and turns the whole story around when he starts rambling and the middle- class Manikandan meet with a shocking end.
All the characters in the film are memorable.
Shankar's energy levels are amazing. There is not a single scene in the film that could be termed waste. The way the Bhuvaneshwari character is fitted in the climax shows the great script writing skill.
Though Vivek and Senthil were used sparingly for comedy, their characters are pretty strong too. Senthil's character deserves a special mention because even if the character is around for only a few moments, you probably would never meet such a person in our life.
The film is a technical treat. Ravi K Chandran's cinematography presents the film from some very different angles. You will have to see the film to understand the hard work that had gone into each and every frame. The boom boom' song is an example. The visuals begin from the set, pass through a Coke bottle and finally end in the Generator room in which Siddharth and Harini live. The audience starts clapping without prompting.
Sabu Cyril had done his magic too- the dating resort, the MTV stage in the climax and the huge set made with discarded materials bear testimony to his talents.
'Yenakkoru girlfriend' is the song of the year. AR Rehman has done a fabulous job with not only the songs, but also with the background score of the film. Raju Sundaram is unperturbed in spite of a spate of young choreographers. This film shows why. Then, there is the precise editing. Though the film is a technical masterpiece, the animated 'girlfriend' in 'Yenakkoru girlfriend' song and the 62 camera shot in 'Aley aley' song don't fail to amaze the audience.
The biggest plus of the film is the fact that the story doesn't stagnate at any point. The tremors at Chennai were just an incident, but it was a big inspiration for Shankar. He used it to turn the story around.
Sujatha's dialogues are pretty young too. "You named me after your girlfriend. I don't want to name my son after my boyfriend in his memory." Sharp and direct.
You feel sorry for them when they struggle for money and a chance to prove their talents. You feel tense when they, unknowingly, compose music for a terrorist gang to get money to pay their exam fee.
This only means, Shankar has hit gold the sixth time in a row.
Shankar's sharp analytical mind shows in this film. Though there is magnificence, it doesn't irk you.
Instead of showing that they had succeeded with just one song, it was pretty realistic on the director's part to show them gradually progress from composing music for a devotional album, a political campaign and then reach the MTV awards.
This time, Shankar had brought out the talents of a bunch of freshers, without relying solely on lavishness and stunning visuals.
When did Shankar go wrong, anyway?

Wow...
The impressive newcomers
The technical team
Shankar's story, screenplay and direction
