rjay, the sitar piece is not very fast. it is pretty much like ravi shankar or anoushka playing. again, it might be deliberately done fast because, if i remember right, it will be followed almost immediately by the soothing music of "en vaanilE orE veNNilaa".
aruL, i didn't see this movie now and record it. As I said, vijay thaan paathu record paNNinaan :-)

Or to get all listings: in coolgoose.com if we click on music on the first page..it takes us to a list > > select world and then tamil under it ...then we get rap, folk , dance etc...all of them are tamil film songs which people have uploaded under various categories. Only trouble is that some songs (e.g., P Leela) are low bitrate mp3's.

-Digression-
Some thoughts on films based on Christian themes in Tamizh films and their songs:
It was in 1948 that two production companies decided to make the same Christian devotional story and give it the same title as well- Gnanasoundari. While one film was by the famed Gemini Studios, the other Gnanasoundari was by F Nagoor’s Citadel Productions. Surprisingly, it was Citadel’s Gnanasoundari that became a super hit. It starred TR Mahalingam & MV Rajammma. It had some superb songs sung by PA Periyanayagi in the music of SV Venkataraman.
K Ramnath’s Ezhai Padum Paadu (1950), based on Victor Hugo's Les Misrebles was another story set against a Christian backdrop. Stg: Nagiah, Baliah, Lalitha, Padmini etc. Excellent songs by SMS- 'Youvaname'-MLV, 'Aasai kiliye'-PA Perianayagi, 'Kannan mananilayai'-MLV, 'Kanivudan thirumbiye paarum'-PA Perianayagi and 'Vidhiyin vilaivaal'-(Radha)Jayalakshmi,
EM Eapachen’s Genoa (1953) was the next film on a Christian story. It starred MGR among others. The film had 3 MDs- TA Kalyanam, MS Gnanamani & MSV. The AMR-P Leela duet- ‘Kannukkul minnal kaattum’ is worth remembering.
Vijaya Vauhani had a sure winner in Missiamma (1955). Directed by LV Prasad, the film was a full-length comedy, with excellent performances by GG, Savithri, Jamuna, Nambiar, SV Ranga Rao, Rushyendramani and K Sarangapani. Savithri appeared as ‘Miss Mary’, a Hindu child, brought up by a Christian couple. S Rajeswara Rao had given an outstanding musical score.
M.L Pathi’s Magadalanaattu Mary (1957) was a film based on Christian mythology. It was the first film for MD R Parthasarathi, and he acquitted himself creditably. Also the film is memorable for the reason that SJ’s first song to be released was in this film.
JP Chandrababu made a suspense thriller called Thattungal Thirakkappadum in 1966. The story was set against the backdrop of a church. It remains to this day among the few tight murder mysteries in the history of tamizh cinema. Sadly the film was an utter flop. Besides JPC, it had in its cast RS Manohar, KR Vijaya and Savithri. Good songs by MSV-‘Kannmani Papa’-JPC, 'Oor paadum thalaattu’-PS, and ‘Kalyana pandhal alangaram’-PS.
Kuzhandhaikkaga-1968, was a story of 3 criminals who are reformed by the little girl they have kidnapped. Stg-Major S, SV Ramdas, Manohar & Padmini. The 3 men belong to 3 faiths, and here MSV gave a memorable song sung by TMS, Seergazhi and PBS ‘Devan vandhaan devan vandhaan’, and PBS singing for the Christian ‘Yesu enbathu ponni nadhi’.
Thangappan’s Annai Velankanni’ (1971) is perhaps the most popular Christian devotional film in tamizh. It boasted of a multitude of stars in its cast- GG, Muthuraman, KR Vijaya, JJ, Padmini & Devika. Excellent music by G Devarajan.
Punitha Anthoniyar, Villiyanoor Matha and Kuzhandhai Yesu are the other Christian devotional films worth mentioning. “Karunamoorthi’ and ‘Jesus’ were dubbed from other languages.
Some Christian songs in tfm:
1.Arul thaarum Deiva Maathave- Gnanasoundari(1948)- Jikki-PA Periyanayagi-MD-SV Venkataraman (Jikki’s first song in tfm)
2. Mathave nin deva darisanam- Gnanasoundari-PAP
3.Kanniye maamarithaaye-Gnanasoundari-PAP
4.Ennai aalum Mary Matha-Missiamma(1955)-P Leela-MD-S Rajeswara Rao

6.Jaya jayame-Magadalanaattu Mary-Soolamangalam Rajalakshmi

Among thanippaadalgal, my vote, anyday is for Jikki’s ‘ lilting Thandhanai thudhippome’.
bb- wish you’d consider ‘Mannulagil indru devan irangi varugiraan’ as SOTD for Christmas.

Saravanan, is ‘Kanmani Pappa’-Thattungal Thirakkappadum - sung by Chandrababu with Baby Rani? Maybe the chorus-like sound 'Paen Paen Paen Paen'? (Btw, thanks for clarifying on BSS thread.)

Sreedhar, I don't know if it was Baby Rani, but, yes, JPC sings with some kids. The song has some hilarious dance movements with Manorama and Angamuthu!

DEAR MR SARAVANAN,
YOU HAVE NOT INCLUDED 'GNANA OLI' IN THE LIST OF
CHRISTIAN BASED FILMS. I DON'T KNOW WHETHER THIS

THIS FILM IS MADE FROM THE DRAMA CARRYING THE SAME NAME.
SHIVAJI'S ROLE WAS PLAYED BY MAJOR IN THE DRAMA.
GOOD DIALOGUES BY VIETNAM VEEDU SUNDARAM.
LYRICS BY KANNADHAASAN AND MUSIC BY MSV
THE FILM HAS FOUR SONGS :
'AMMA KANNU SUMMA SOLLU AASAI ILLAIYO' TMS+PS
'MANA MEDAI...' PS - BEAUTIFUL AND BEST SONG
'DHEVANE ENNAI-P-PAARUNGAL' TMS - GOOD SONG
'ULLAM PO ENDRADHU..NERUNGHI VAA ENDRADHU'
- SPB & LRE (THE SONG IS NOT IN THE FILM)

Friend,
Films like 'kiLinjalgaL', 'alaigaL Oyvathillai', 'raaja naagam', 'raaja paarvai' etc., had a partial Christian backdrop i.e., the heroine was a Christian, falling in love with a Hindu boy. 'kiLinjalgaL' , in particular, had a touching scene where the heroine drives a nail into her palm and eventually dies of the wound, to protest against her parents not approving of her love!
