IR with MR again?!

Dear Friends,

Yesterday's Maalai Malar Cinema Malar (July 5, 2001) says that MR and IR are joining again as if it is a confirmed news and that the hero will be Surya. The same news was put up in www.tamilcinema.com too. What do you all think about the reality of this news?

  I did not take into account the fact that you like IR so much that u cud really have been offended by the joke. I was under the impression that since ARR was also getting the same dose it was all fun.
  
  But if IR is your relative or if he is so dear to you. Please accept my sincere apologies! I have read many of ur prev postings and I shld say I agree with a lot of them. It took me bak by 10 years and I used to feel the same abt IR. I did not want to hurt ur senti's .
  
  I personally dont attach any emotion to much thnigs. Music is like math to me . contradictory to many peoples views even art is math to me. Like it was in the roman civilzation.I should have accounted for you having so much affection towards IR.

  Recycling of tunes - Like what other musician does, I've seen IR recycle his tune from his non-hit movies as well. If any of you heard songs from "Innisai Mazhai", you could feel that. I liked the songs from this movie, unfortunately the movie was the "Crap of the century".

  For the record, I don't think ARR is Hot!
  
  The truth is there are various customer segments. There are some who belong to a segment who thinks IR is not hot any more and ARR is the Best. There are others who feel that IR is hot and look forward to his new compositions and do not espouse the same opinions of ARR's music as those who think he is hot. I think just like those who believe ARR is hot have strong rationale for your beliefs, I - belonging to IR segment - have strong reasons for my beliefs too.
  
  In all these slugfests as mentioned earlier, the pity is people trying to either convert people of the other segments to their beliefs or try to portray their beliefs as superior to other's beliefs - both of which are futile and undeserving efforts. People from any of the customer segments may write opinions about the music of any of the music directors - it is up to discerning reader to understand the biases of the writer and afford the credibility that they should provide to such postings.
  
  Having followed TFM for over 7 years, I know the biases of some of our frequent TFMers with anti-IR bias and ignore their postings. I do not think biased opinions expressed in this forum can take away the genuine glory of IR's compositions.
  
  For better decorum in this forum, let us ignore these anti-IR postings and hopefully they will go away.

  I feel 80% of the people here feel IR-MR combo is the best. But you should not leave out the rest of 20%, who when sqaured and divided by 5 would make 80%. That's exactly the point. MR & Shankar can square ARR to yield 400%. Now when considering the 5 directors who go for IR, would make the percentage of 80, whilst dividing 400%. So now 80% of the folks like MR-ARR or ARR-Shankar combo. Don't question my math and logic (I follow the leader in the forum here). If you question me I would have to introduce Newton's and Green's theorms.

  what more do u want than cassatte sales of the past decade Yeah, that says it. ARR is past. Can I interpret that way? Can you give the cassette sales figures from this decade?

  There used to be fellow DF'ers by the names Srinath & Raj. I'm not sure whether they are posting in a diff names. But the way the mathematics & logic are inferred and derived (in a st*&d way, makes me feel that they are the need of the hour.

  I do not consider Cassette sales to be equal to the quality of composing and hence of the MDs.
  
  If I have to respect the quality of a product based on the numbers of people supporting(buying) it, then I have to respect Jayalalitha, MGR, Indira Gandhi, Laloo Prasad Yadav, Devi Lal, Charan Singh, Bal Thackarey..... as quality leaders based on the number of people who supported them.......In fact, a large number of people voted MGR to be their leader in TN when he was in his death bed......These are the same populace who are deciding the popularity (cassette sales)...Hence, I place only so much value on the popularity or lack of popularity (or cassette sales) being the parameter of quality.
  
  I actually take pride on not being sucked in by the phonieness of the popularity being the judge of quality and base it on my individual judgement and to me IR is still unparalleled!

  one group says Madras-NewDelhi TamizhNadu Express is the fastest train(leaving shathabdhi and rajdhanis) in this segment.
  
  other group says the Lufthansa is the best carrier.
  
  both are fighting till death.
  
  A MD being Hot is one factor. A MD's music is (still) great is another factor. How can two groups fight amongst themselves based on these incomparable things?
  
  futile isn't it children.
  
  so the moral of the story is never compare two unrelated facts and fight amongst yourselves.
  
  ah! i was horrified whether i will be thrown out of the company due to this "US Slow down"-mania. Thank God i have another job; i am fit to be a Kinder Garten School teacher. So i still can survive.
  
  oh! what am i seeing?? thousands of my alikes who feel themselves to be fit for KG teaching, like me? oh! no... i am very depressed.

  how many people have u spoken to! who have voted for MGR, Jayalalitha, lalloo whatever!. people whom u know wud have voted for congress BJP etc.
  
  in my opinion those people r not idiots contrary to ur low opinion about the common man. They benifitedd( somehow) from such politicians and hence they voted. see 1'ce if laloo is elected and he turns out to be an idiot then u can shout at him, but if he is repeatedly getting elected then review ur analysis and find out wat u r missing . dont dismiss the people as idiots. they r out there u r sitting in an arm chair.

  the fact that MR is with ARR now. blatantly exposes the fact that IR is not indispensable! he can very well be replaced! The show will go on!
  
  the fact that an IR fan is hopin that MR-IR wud be back again means he subcou\nciously accepts that IR needs promotional help and right now his music isnt doin all the work.
  
  
  be awake to ##'s man and dont put down sales. ad dont live in the past. India may have sachin, ganguly, dravid laxman, who have astronomical averages but they will loose to WI and ENg. it doesnt mean that its bcoz of some vague reaosn its bcoz we r inferior as a team.

  yeah MR replaces ARR and still the show is going on, but not like the MR-IR era.
  
  More people are watching because population increased, we have lot of channels, easy access to movies etc., Having a tape recorder in home 15 years back was a great deal, But now its not a matter, SO cassette/CD sales is not a bench mark for anything.
  
  IR doesnt need any promotional help by anybody after doing so much. Infact it is MR who needs some help after consecutive failures inspite of having the best technicians to work with. He might not be able to understand what is happening??
  
  Regarding cricket- Ganguly, Dravid, Laxman what ever replaces Gavaskar, Viswanath, Srikanth, Vengsarkar. Cricket is going on, More people are watching compared to earlier, but do we get the classic play of the earlier guys, do we get the quality of those strokes, Do we get the fun of watching those matches when we watch todays matches? Certainly not. Guys who didnt watch earlier matches may enjoy current matches, but who watched earlier cannot. thats the difference.

  Most of them are considering Sachin as second only to Bradman and you are saying the strokes are inferior in quality.Most critics agree Sachin's cover drive and pull shot are as good as any other Cricketer.
