Manju - Ladies & Gentleman

These are two films by HJ and Bharani respectively. I was in a VCD shop today in the outscirts of Chennai, where I came thru these two cassettes. When I enquired, the women there said that Manju is Ok but L&G is really good. She was insisting this again and again. Also, CHOCOLATE has nothing better other than a 5-star chocolate with the cassette. She said that overall STAR songs are hit and its sales is in the peak. Theabouve mentioned two films are new releases and please, put your opinions about them here.

  Harris already repeats his minnale bgm in pinju thendrale in the second interlude! Despite all the hype, Harris surely has a lot of ground to cover.
  
  And please dont ever compare with rahmans awesome second album pudiya mugam (the songs are zillion miles ahead).

  Where can I listen to Chocolate? I found only Majnu at Raaga.com. I liked the songs, though they are not on par with Minnale.

  Mixture of Alaipayuthey and Minnale songs....
  Harish Ragavendra is horrible in the Duet Mudhalkanave....
  Only redeeming feature is Pinju Thendrale...Where M.G. Sreekumar of malayalam films and Sandhya of Deebangal Pesum and Pookodiyen Punnagai...out beat each other with their melodious voices...Sandhya certainly deserves Mention here...

  Yup, I'm the same Karthik. If you'd seen the TFM archives somewhere in last year you'd find that every 4th message was mine. I had so much time in my previous job but thats not what I wanna end up in life with. So I got a life and am terribly busy with it. Yes, I really miss maintaining that arrmp3 site, but what to do!   Not bad for a second album...as it will be definitely compared to the first one... so I didn't approach it with big expectations..but one thing is surely getting irritating - the use of the double repetition beginning. I myself became aware of it only when I saw the thread in newtfmpage.

  Average...but one song needs a special mention....PINJU THENDRALE...Sandhya needs a special mention here as she managed to out beat an experienced singer like M.G.Shreekumar...HJ should concentrate on voice's like Sandhya's rather than going for Bombay jayashree's which sounds pale....

  yes u r correct IR has a carpenter in the back of his house who "sedhukkifyes" all IR's instruments and so all those r extremely native. IR never ever imported anything from outside TN. Not even kerala/AP.
  
  The musical notes which IR writes and breathes r all written in tamil!!!! ;-)

  I was in india recently. Minnale is a hit. HJ was interviewed on vijay tv. The guy may be talented, but needs a lesson on how to carry himself through an interview. It was hard to see as he shyed away from the lady who was interviewing him..kind of made me cringe with his mannerisms. can learn a lesson or two from ARR

  I think I too saaw the interview. One should also see the other side. That lady was also vazhinjifying a lot. So, we need to give few moree chances to HJ in interviews (and films also)

  I listened to that Gulmohar song two times. I am pretty sure that he has tried to copy Pachchai nirame. All thru the song you are riminded of that. To add flovour to it Hariharan has sung it. If I get an MP3 version of it, I will be able to play Gulmohar and pachchai nirame one after another and see the obvious similarity.

  Listened to Majnu songs. Not close to minnale(Vaseegara...enough said) but surely cannot drub this as a no good album. I think songs mercury melae, pinju thendrale and the Jayashree, harish song(sounds similar to "kannukul nurru nilava"..same ragam??) songs grow on you. Surely a decent effort.

  Gulmohar is no doubt Pachai nirame with different lyrics. Muthal Kanave is same as Oh Mama from Minnale.
  
  When Kumudam wrote the review for Minnale, they said 'HJ opens the Xerox copy shop of ARR'. I felt they were very aggressive at that time. They prove to be wrong.
  
  I prefer listening to TI. HJ recycles the first album in his second and lifted ARR for another. Genius he is. I remember for ARR fans HJ is the next alternative. I am not sure what they think now.
  
  One thing is sure. HJ is recording is as good as ARR.
