Lyrics - The Golden 70s

The 70s is a special period for me and holds a special place in my heart. Unfortunately it is a period overlooked by many people and we hardly hear songs from this period nowadays.

Whenever, I have the time, I would like to share the lyrics of some of my favourites and have discussions of this period.

  I am very partial towards ealy day SP Bala. His voice then had a very soft touch which is quite inexplanable. I wish more people would write of his earlier songs. Here is one of my fovouries, sung b SP Bala for Sivaji, lyrics Kannadhasan, music mellisai mannar.

  A small digression - a couple of months back, I was out shopping with my Bengali friend near Bombay's VT Station and happened to get into Planet M, a music store. I thought of picking up a tamil cassette since I have only mp3s..and the number of cassettes on offer was scarce, still there was an assorted album of maestro's - it featured Machaana Paartheengala, Senthoorapoove, oru naal unnodu oru naal, raja enbar, uchi vagintheduthu, kadhal deepam ondru, pothuvaaga en manasu, poonkathavey, siruponmani asayum, anthi mazhai, orey naal unai naan, poovarasampoo, senthazhampoovil - majority of these being from the 70s...i cherish that collection since its something that was got away from ur hometown!
  
  I was on the lookout for the lyrics of Oh Nenje, Poo Poley, Agaya Gangai, Oru Thanga Rathathil, Yetho Ninaivugal, Irumanam konda, Samsaaram enbathu, for a loooooong time....and i got it all on this thread!

  Oh nenje is from the 80s movie, Darling Darling starring Pakiaraj & Poornima Jeyram (future wife). Music is by Shankar Ganesh.

  You are a fan of Makkal Kalaignar Jaishankar? He was the James Bond of Tamil movies courtesy of movies such as Vallavan Oruvan, Vallavanukku Vallavan and CID Shankar.
  During the period 1975 to 1978, his movies dwindled quite a bit. Some of them were:
  
  Cinema Paithiyam, Sonthangal Vazhga, Gayathri, Sonthamadi Nee Enakku, Oru Veedu Oru Ulagam and Vandikkaran Magan.
