6 Songs : Mind Blowing!!

Simply mind-blowing
November 20
Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”
Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.
Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

Hi V,
I dont think there is any problem with TFM listeners (makkals as you say). I think ARR should not do movies, go for albums if he wants to use his skill to a maximum. Film Music is restrictive (this applies to any country). You cant go all out and experiment. He should try and make an album in Tamil/English/Hindi. Also, makkals should get exposed to these movies/music constantly to accept it. If something is good and different everyone will accept, but it will take some time to accept the change. That is what MR, Kamal and others are doing. Trying to make things happen (read MRs interview in vikatan). "Makkal" are responding well. Now, Virumandi, Autograph are a hit. If Aytha Ezhuthu makes some sense, I think it will be a hit too.

i seriously think ARR has graduated from film music to a more classy music style.....no wonder his songs are not becoming a hit......when he tries he gives up crap like "Askava osthava(E20U18),"meherbaan(tehzeeb)"......... so he shuld make albums and concentrate more on international scene where the fans are much more sensible aand accept his kind of music....if ARR continues in tfm, it'll be like sachin tendulkar playing for Mumbai v/s TN rather than India V/S Pakistan.........

Maddy,
Irrespective of where he plays, if he plays better and take correct decisions everyone will recognise. it applies to ARR as well. There are many Indian classical artists, who play in India as well abroad. They get recognised. As I said before, film music is restrictive thats why you need to go for an odd bad song/album. Why cant he try an album which is not a movie? Rather than saying TFM is bad.

So what, TFM is good??
When u see a song like :
"pappala pala pappala pala pappali palame..." in TFM there is certainly a disease going on here!
Vatsa,
Your arguments are based on the premise that TFM is not bad. That whole premise is wrong. When movies like Anbe Sivam, Solla Marantha Kathai bomb and movies like Thirumalai, Jayam become hit then there is a major disease among the so called janamakkals!
I saw Thiruda Thirudi the other day. What an awful artless dance in that manmatha raasa. I felt like wringing the neck of that lady who has sung with irrrrritating open throat manmatha rasaaaaaaa....... Feel ashamed to be a tamilian when hearing this kind of nonsense!!!!!!
Only movies like Virumandi and people like IR, ARR can save tamil films and music!
I dont give a damn if you support these films/ music and utter dialogs like "whats wrong with dappankuthu?" and try to pretend to be more accomodating. I am sorry there needs to be a limit to these things. Look at the way Kamal portrayed Gramiya kalai and nattupura isai in Virumandi. Thats what I call Isai!
Not some rowdy looking ch*ooth dancing with a fat fair skinned mumbai import in the street of switzerland and singing and dancing uglily to tunes like "thimsukattai Ai Ai Thimsukattai..."
Praying people like Kamal to save tamil cinema!!!!!!!
People like IR need to be showcased abroad. They shud work with acknowledged symphony orchestra to show their prowess. People like IR are unfortunately born in the wrong country/state. Imagine a genius like IR in a country where classical mucis is defined and hailed!
I dont have any sympathies to these rowdy 6.50 Rs ticket koottam. These scumbags are responsible for TFM churning out songs like "Un iddipu size-a kattu" and terrrribly outageous stuff like that. shud be imprisoned for such tastes

I fully agree with yessakki, virumani is an great effort from kamal to uplift standard of tamil cinema, music by illaiyaraja was of superior quality.

I personally did not like the lyrics in Yuva. I mean, the lil bit I heard, it was irritating. A loevely JanaGanaMana had become a STUPID Dhaka Laga Bhuka!! Mayb that has something to do with it.

mr.jacky,i think u r pretty new here....i'm one of the most HCF of ARR.......i can walk thru whole of chennai with my pants half down if ARR comes for a dinner with me.......so there's no question of me supporting HJ and YSR......
mr. C~P, i think that is a pretty serious accusation on tendulkar that he plays better for mumbai rather india....chalega yaar.....ppl. do come down heavily on this gr8 man.......
albums, mr.vatsa are also not a solution i guess... cos tamil industry is non-existing in this field and in hindi they are lazy bums who remix every other song of RD,SD and LP........ so the best thing for ARR is to cross-over and make an international album reaching out NRI's and foreigners interested in Indian type of music......
