  Thank you for the collection of Jayachandran's duets. I have an old Indian cassette with a few good songs by Jayachandran. In addition to the songs in your collection, it also has "Amudha Thamizhil ezhudhum...", "Oru vaana vil polai...",
  "Chiththira chevvaanam...", "Ponnenna poovenna kanney...", "Anbey un paer enna rathiyo..." and "Aadi velli thaedi unnai..." The only problem is that the quality of recording (in my tape!) is very bad.
  
  BTW, did you notice that several of these songs sound the same (similar) in rhythm, beats, tune, etc? In my collection, "Anbumikka maappillaikku..." comes immediately after "Saamaththil pooththa malli...". It sounds almost like the same song is continuing!
  
  In a lighter vein, I envy the man whose wife sings "Anbumikka maappillaikku, ennai konda periyavarkku, nandri sollum naeramidhu naan vananghum deivamithu..." :-)))))))

  You are right about the similarity in those JC songs.
  While we are talking about JC songs and similarities..
  have you noticed the similarity between 'ennOdu
  ennennavO ragasiyam' and 'bool gayA sab kuch' (Julie)?

  I also would like to hear mandhAra malarE
  mandhAra malarE from the movie 'nAn avan illai'.
  
  JC's thamizh pronunciation is one of the very
  clearest among all singers, I feel.
  
  Next I am trying to collect songs of KJY in the

  Your observationon JC's pronunciation is a nice one. The best song to observe his pronunciation skills is "kavithai aRangErum nEram"

  Aren't you talking about the song that starts with the Malayalam lines "Saptha swara devi unaroo, ini ennil varadaanam aruloo.....". Of course, it is a good song. Bhagyaraj has the role of a Malayalee from Palghat in that movie! ("Paalakkaattukaaran Maadhavan", to be exact!}

  The KJY-70s collection was awsome. It was good to listen to songs that are now nearly 30 years old. I was hoping to find "unnidam mayangudirEn" in the collection which used to be one of my favorites and brings back sharp memories of my final years in school. This was a Sivakumar and Jayachitra movie full of double-entendres which were pretty sickening. But this song was a gem. It also had Kamalahasan in it.

  SK, I have a suggestion to make!
  When you record songs that came before 78, can you make take out the stereo option. The stero option makes the performance bad (freq. response), plus no movies were recorded in stereo prior to 78. It also does not makes the quality much better.

  I am ripping these songs from CDs. When I encode
  without stereo, for some reason the songs come
  out strange. I don't know whether it has to do
  with the way they were encoded into the CDs.
  That's why I am using the stero option.

  It has been a very long time since I listened to
  'unnidam mayangigiREn'. VKumar's tune and music
  is great.. KJY's singing is also great! As you said,
  the picturization makes the audience concentrate
  on something totally different! :-)
  
  In kAdhal enbadhu kAviyamAnAl P Suseela
  sings with a very very different tone that I
  haven't heard in any of her other songs. Have you
  noticed that? May be it was her effort to adjust

  thanks a ton for uploading paLLiyarakuL vantha puLLi mayile. What a melody! The same movie has a solo by TMS suthanthira boomiyil paravasa thottathil malarnthana maragatha malargal . Do you know who was(were) the lyricist(s) for both of these songs? The song brought back some reminiscences of my childhood.
