"For Isaignani this project is profoundly personal. There comes a time in every artist's life when he agonizes over his legacy. Isaignani does not simply want to be remembered as a cine composer. He wants to leave behind something that will live for eternity in the history of music. This is going to be that creation."
I think the finest legacy is the songs and backgrround scores of IR. That legacy cannot be matched

BB,
IR did learn these stuff ..we cannot limit isaignani by what we hear in his cinema music and in his background score ..I got that info from one of the interviews of Karthick Raaja ..

bb,
I feel IR has a very fundamental understanding of Music. So learning other forms of music with these fundamentals are comparitively easy. (This is the reason even after 850 movies he sometimes comes with fresh haunting score).
This guy is a real genius and let god bless him with success on this ambitious project.

Dear Rev. Fr. Jegath,
Thanks for your efforts and inputs.
On sponsorship side, has someone tried exploring support from Corporate bodies ?
For e.g., I was just thinking about Infosys founder Narayanamurthy. He has a passion for Western Classical / Symphony music. Even in some of his interviews to media, he had expressed this in detail. Probably, if people like him can be approached, it may do wonders to bring Indian Compositions (specifically IR's) to the world stage. Not long before Infosys did this for Indian IT.
Though not sure what is the best approach, I am thinking of writing some mails to a friend in Infosys. I have thought about some other avenues / ideas also. Probably drop me a e-mail if you find time and we can explore further -- subbiah1@yahoo.com .
As you said, a collective, optimistic view on October 18th, will drive all the IR fans to realise this dream.
anbudan,
Subbiah

Respected Rev.Fr.Jegath,
I would like to suggest the name "Thiruvasakam- A Symphonic Ecstasy" not Fantasy.
The reason is respected Pope John Paul himself has mentioned that tears of ecstasy rolled down his cheeks when he read Thiruvasakam.

To all the friends in this forum, thank you.
For the suggestion of Mr.Raja, I would present your suggestion to the Board.
IR will be travelling to Newyork to complete the lyrics of Sivapuranam in English. It is going to be the Hollywood lyricist who wrote for Prince of Egypt.
Rev.Fr.jegath.

Indian artists will join the Hungarian Budapest Symphony orchestra in Thiruvasakam project. The details of the music prfessionals-I feel it prudent not to divulge without the permission of Isaignani.
As of now no concert is planned in the US. For India wehave fixed the date.

Mumbai Ramki,
when i mentioned about the $ in my last message.. it was to answer a posting by "Anbe Sivam".what i was trying to say was that the maestro should stop film music completely and start doing this kind of great work for which , fans like me are ready to buy the CD what ever the cost is.I didn't mention the $ hear to mean that there is profit involved or anything.I stongly feel that the maestro should completely stop film music. You know, it doesn;t make sense for me that he is doing such a great music endevaour and on the same hand composing music for julie ganapathy.

Rev.Fr.jegath -
I read somewhere that the "Thiruvaasagam in Symphony" project also involves the poetry of Sant Kabir - is it true ?
if so, I suggest Maestro.Ilaiyaraaja pay a visit to Banaras and also an ashram called Dayal Bagh (Garden of Mercy) near Agra - Mr.Raja can get lots of inputs for his work there

Hope, you would collect all the important video snippets of this "making of Symphony". Those snippets can be of help for producing the documentary video of Raaja's work after the main product release.

Dear all,
We are a long time listeners. We grew up with IIR [Isaignani IlaiyaRaaja, as we would like to address Him]since the 70's, starting from 'macchAnaip pAttheengaLA' to 'adadA' and it is not an exaggeration to say how much we all owe to IIR for the ways in which he has played a silent part in our times of joys and sorrows. With his melodious touch of his mastery over the three aspects of music- lyrics, tune and rhythm- he has soothed us, cajoled us, inspired us, scolded us, encouraged us, helped us, calmed us, and so on. Some may relate the same with other musicians of their lifetime, but what I am referring to here is something personal without casting any aspirations to those others. Having said that, how can we repay the Master? This question has been at the bottom of our hearts all these times and we didn't have a clue as to how and when this may be accomplished! Like the Ekalaiva owing his talents to his unseen master Dronacharya, we were also feeling the same way. We have been thanking IIR everyday during our prayers and that's what we could do so for! But, As IIR used to say, "yellaam Iraivan aruL" some strange things started happening in the last few weeks which we feel it is proper to share with you all. Please bear with us and read along till the end! By a stroke of sheer Divine grace, we stumbled upon the current master project of IIR, "Thiruvasakam In Symphony" and expressed a desire to volunteer out time to this. When it is not at all difficult for the Great Master to get in touch with some of the big corporate sponsors and leading music companies to have it done at a stroke of his word, IIR was straining himself to find a way to get this project be known to each and every common man who has been influenced by his music. When we submitted a plan of action to his emissary Rev. Fr.Jegath of starting a movement in USA "aaLukku Aindhu Dollar", IIR responded gleefully, while on his way to Thiruvannaamalai, that "this is exactly I had in mind and yellaam Iraivan aruL"[to qoute him correctly]. And now, this project is on final shape and this has been launched yesterday on the auspicious day of Vijayadasami. We appeal to all of you fans in USA to help us in this cause. Please do the following:
1. Pl. go to the Thiruvasakam in symphony.com website and know more about this.
2. If you want to participate in this, pl. e-mail us in USA, Mr. Sankar Kumar from Cary, North Carolina, Mr. Sridhar Seetharaman from NJ, Mr.Sridhar Balasubramanian from San Jose, and Mr. Socrates from Seattle asap.
3. Tamil Maiyam has printed out the brochures and receipt books [of $5 tickets of 20 each in a book], and if you want to be part of this, pl. let us know your requirement of books which we will be glad to send you.
4. Every one of us do have afriends/relative circle of 20 people or more and it is not difficult at all for 2000 of us to raise the required amount.
5. Everyone of us will be able to spare $5 to this great person who has played such an important role in each of our lives and it should not be difficult to part with $5 for this project which is aimed at great maestros of universal fame to be able to read and play our music which has not been posible so for due to the style of our traditional music system.
6. All those who are interested, please contact us to make this happen.
7. Together, we can make it happen.
8. Contact id's

Why Ilaiyaraaja? Why not somebody else?
We are proud to say that we have enough masters in India to compose Symphonies. And we have enough masters who understand "Thiruvasagam". But at this point, there is only one who could comprehend both and bring them together. This is a sensitive and sacred text that has to be dealt with, without showing one's musical arrogance. Here he is, the blessed one, IIR, who can make it happen.
Children Of Indian origin, who grow up outside of India, are exposed to masters like Bach, Beethoven and Mozart all the time. Every nation has produced their music using Symphonic form apart from their own traditional music. Vivaldi-Italy, Mozart-Hungary, Enescu-Romania, Sibelius-Finland, Bach-Germany, Beethoven-Germany, Tchaikovsky-Russia, Debussy-France, Villa Lobos-Brazil, Britten-England, Aaron Copland-USA, Bernstein-USA and so on. Now we can be proud to add IIR-India. Our children can listen to this along with the music of the great masters listed above. We are positive that this Symphony is going to inspire your children and we will have more of these produced by our children in the future.
These kind of projects are extremely important. They inspire us, improve our self-esteem and help us, give more to this world.
