  Raghu,please understand their feelings too.I agree spb is not bad,but can anyone compare such an ordinary singer with living legend PJ?This spb is able to sing one type,but he don't have variety as PJ.But you can have your thoughts.But don't make tfm as a battlefield.Please....

  there is a word in C++ programming called "Polymorphism", which means sveral names have one meaning, here u have several names, but one IP address, that shows u a r spineless idiot, u must be thick fanatic of PJ, u r really insulting the GOOD singer PJ, he is good, but NOT the greatest, SPB, KJY, Rafi, TMS, PBS are all extremley greater than PJ, I have seen u insulting KJY big time, on www.forumhub.com/indianfilms, that clearly shows u have no music sense @ all, KJY, BMK are the most talented carntic Artists in India, yet, u have the guts to compare a good singer like PJ, with the greats like SPB,KJY,BMK,Rafi, & Kishore, ....
  
  In this thread, we are talking about PLAYBACK SINGING, not carnatic,ghazzel, quwali, bhajans, etc, etc, hence SPB is the GREATEST in PLAYBACK singing!, I am never going to reply to your crap, it's not worth, if u r PJ fanatic fine, I am alos his FAN, but I am not mad like u, if u really want to show respect to PJ, then open a thread & discuss about his songs, but don't try 2 be smart by using millions of name, cos the IP address will show up, & u will look like a fool, Oh sorry, but u r a fool anyway.

  U must be posting this from work, cos normally, offices uses a DHCP server (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) to get an IP address, which is always Dynamic (fixed) IP address, this normaly happens, when u r connecting to Internet via LAN(Local Area Network), rather than "Dial-up-Networking".
  
  then u go home & use your PC to go on line, using "Dial-up-network", your ISP (internet service provider) uses a static(variable) IP address @ different times, that' y your IP address is sometime,

  1.MELODY:Jayachandran is melody,i am ashamed of stating about such a great person that "JAYACHANDRAN IS
  HAVING MELODY ALSO".But yesudas now and then had it.
  2.RANGE:Jayachandran's 90% songs had this characteristic.Let me point out some songs which have some less range
  Ninpadangalil
  Nunakkuzhikavilil
  Bhoolokarambhayute
  Yesudas's songs have range but equally there are songs which don't have range.It is like 2 faces of a coin
  3.SPEED:There is no speed in yesudas's songs.Noone can show a speedy song sung by him.He tried to sing sometimes
  like
  pavataprayathil
  which have not succeeded since it resembles a conversation.
  Jayachandran is superb in speed.
  Take for eg the song
  pa pa pa pa pa nisa manohari
  ma ma ma ma ma vikaramanjari devasundari
  To pronounce it properly and sing it speedily yesudas is not at all perfect.Jayachandran was fully perfect.
  4.VIBRATIONS:Vibrations are made by both singers.Both are equally good in it.Jayachandran's
  vibrations in prayam nammil was beautiful.
  5.DEPTH:Jayachandran has much depth than yesudas.In depth yesudas is nil in front of jayachandran.Even in a simple
  padam like karivarivandukal kurunirakal in DEVARAGAM take the part "kaikalo-o-o-
  jalapushpavalayangalo-o-o-o-o"
  He has the depth there.In all songs this is coming into picture.As Ajith show above,yesudas was unable to maintain raaga
  
  
  at high pitches is About this aspect.
  6.SOFTNESS:Even now when he is not getting chances as yesudas he maintains the softness like the song
  Ariyathe ariyathe-e in RAVANAPRABHU.But Jayachandran is not the master of this it is Hariharan.But Yesudas is
  nothing in this,he is always noty soft.But some songs like Kattile pazhmulam thandil ghe approached it.Jayachandran and
  
  
  Hariharan are 2 good in it.
  7.VERSATILITY:Altogether more versatile is Jayachandran but due to luck yesudas was more famous.It does not mean
  that jayachandran is less versatile.He was not recognised as he should be.
  If Jayachandran was given more chances he would have shown up the world.But when politics or other pressure comes
  against a singer what the most versatile singer can do?
  That is why i consider him as most versatile.If he should have remained there in bollywood,he would have been famous
  like his students.

  2. range
  3. speed
  4. vibrations & oscillations
  5. depth

  7 versatality (ability to shine in film music, classical, devotional, semi -classical light music, festive music etc..)
  
  no other singer in India has proven his ability in such diversified kinds of vocal singing!
  
  and nobody can match him in vocal characteristics mentioned above. Other singers may have the first 3 but not the other
  ones. Some other singers may have the last 3 but not the initial ones. There has not been a single singer in INdia that has

  I have Known Dr.SPB, (thambhi) for more than any of u have known, he is simply the Best in India, but if you ask him, he may turn around & say it is either Rafi shahib or my self, that just shows his humbleness!
  
  I have learnt carnatic Music since I was 11, Rafi learnt ghazzel, quwali's etc, but SPB learnt nothing, yet he is NO.1 singer in India today, wow, what a voice, so much depth, graceemotion, bass, etc etc, I can go on!

  SPB ji is gift to mother India, I am die hard fan of his depth in his voice, I also a big fan of Rafi sahib & KJY sir, I am just a very small singer next to SPB ji

  I listened to "Devan thandha Veenai adhil devi seidha ganam" sung individually by both SPSB and Jaya chandran. I was able to enjoy SPB's rendering more.
  
  He is not so good in the carnatic pieces that come in film songs.
  
  He certainly has a romantic youthful voice.
  
  1)"Samsaram enbadhu veenai"
  2)"Bhratthi kannamma neeyadi chinnamma" - youthful, romantic and ivigorating
  3)"Margazhi paniyil mayangiya nilavil oorvasi vandhal enai thedi" - he beautifully yoddles.
  
  The list is big....
  
  
  Jayachandran certainly has a sweet and attractive voice.
  E.g.
  1) "Ponnenna poovenna kanne".- He spell binds.
  2) "Rasaathi onna kanadha nenju"
  3) "Sangeedhame en deiveegame naan thedum en kadhal rajangame" - exotic
  
  His pronunciation is unparalleled.
  
  KJY - divinity,bass, calm, greatness...I am reminded of all these when I hear KJY's voice.
  
  In cine music, his voice is not a great choice for youthful romance.
  
  1) Edho ninaivugal - his voice indistinguishable from the bass.
  2) Adhisaya ragam - He excells in songs based on
  Karnatic ragas (Aren't they the fundamentals of music?)
  "Veenai Pesum adahi meetum viralgalai kandu" - divine romance...wow
  
  Again the list is big..
  
  To be very frank, all of them excell in their own ways.., and I can listen to all of their songs.... and eqully enjoy them for the different talents they have.

  mr narendra, everybody is good in their own way is a very simplistic statement. the question is taking into considerations all aspects of singing cinema songs, who ranks the best. the answer is undoubtedly spb because he is the one and only versatile singer with a voice that can be matched by no one.
