All times in EST +10:30 for IST.
Drawbacks of a person gives way to others to come in.
Ex : IR drawback is not keeping good relations with others.
With this drawback also He was able to rule about 25 years means it is only the talent.
Now also He can come back and rule if he shows bit
of attention.
Now comming to the drawbacks of ARR ( A wind )
1. Lack of creativity
( already there r talks about his repeated tunes )
2. Late composition.
People will not wait for long time for listerning to new albulms.
They will try other options as He could not give
enough albulms.
There r many possibilities for othere MDS to
enter in the time gap.
Even directors cant wait for too delay in release.
They will wait if they get all hits from him.
If they get 2 / 3 successive flops they will get idea of trying with others.
3. Dependency :
He wants the director to be skilled to extract the good in him.
It is clear that He can give hits only to big directors.
4.Giving preference only to directors.
I cant give clear explanation as I dont know the facts.
There may be others which I may know as I dont know him in person.
Ther is one advantage to him from his second drawback.
He does only some films and any MD can get 4 / 5
films every year.
As the albulms come with delay,It takes time for people to decide his downfall.
If he gets one click again hopes will be there,
For his next few albulms it takes some years.
I am 100 % sure that If ARR could give albulms
fast, He would have been decided by now.

>>Being able to write the notes (originally) and compose, orchestrate a song of caliber "andhi mazhai pozhigirathu" or "En vaanile" from Jhonny. <<<
Please add that this means genius according to you ! Bcos this song made an impact on you does't mean the composer is a genius...
And what do you mean writing notes originally...is a sign of genius...wake up....reinventing the wheel is not a good thing these days...and FYI the mood generated by "En Vaanile" is equally well created by "Pachai Nirame"- wanna start a hardcore analysis of these two songs ?
"Andhi Mazhai" is good no doubt...but I've heard more passionate and mood creating numbers of IR...these are his lesser sung works...for eg. "Oru Kaviyam..."

//"And why do you have to mention that you like IR more than ARR when all you are doing, is putting down IR in whatever way you can. "//
so now slowly u r getting the message..
//". But strangely u expect IR fans never to talk a word against him or to deify him and belittle others.. "//
I am not the one who'd harp on the past, condemn the present and miss out on life... In the days of 2 in 1 radio and "chennai vaanoli nilayam" I listened to IR's "nizhalgal" and every other song..
In the era of Bose systems and Hi-Tech CD players I am listening to ARR who is tuned to this time and age...
I am getting the best of both worlds... u r NOT. It could be a decent living for u to listen to ever ARR song and desparately try and find mistakes in those and compare itt with old IR #'s.. people will shortly be least interested...
all IR fans say is that IR's class is permanant and ARR's form is temporary whilst ARR is holding the trophy of the moment for the past 10 years...
//"so in conclusion I can only say that u think the average man who buys music is less intelligent than u. I think u r wroong in that aspect"//

And dont u think I cant say something in defense of the 12 movies I listed for ARR with new directors...
see realize that u like IR too much to let go of him...
u want him to stay more than he himslef want to...
I dont think he even thought of getting down to the arena and wage a reall battle with ARR..
and i say this again ..what a waste of talent in IR
he should be in his 50's I guess a ripe time to do good music... but he is talking some vague things about "aathma" and "punyam" etc that he is missing out on his music which the basically the whole point.

u mentioned working with new comers as a criteria and i still dont agree with the fact that its an important criteria... so i repost this...
//"Bharath, I can never never never agree with this. Conversely I feel ARR should take up more such projects which have no other market value other than his music. "//
I will give u a straight analogy... look in terms of the perpective of that analogy and plz explain...
students scoring 99 % are given admission to anna university. students scoring 90% and less are admiited only to provate engg.. colleges.
long time assumption :
1) % reflects ability of the student.
2) Anna univ is a quality institution and it will give the best infrastructure, where good students can benefit and give more quality output thro them
Ur Argument:
1) Good students will survive anywhere so they neednt always get the best institution
2) Let Anna University prove its worth by admitting students with less academic credentials and then let it try and make good engineers out of them.
mapping: Anna University = ARR
Good students = Big Names (producer or director)
I think point 2. under "long term assumption" will give out the best possible result
and the points under "u'r argument" is always second best.
under "u'r argument" #1 is incorrect and # 2 although a decent( at best) idea is not good bcoz then there is no contribution from the student and makes u feel if they deserve a place there or not.
Again I re-iterate.. if ARR should give a hit all by himself, why not do it in an individual album but waste time on average people...
this is a competitive world.... survival of the fittest
b.t.w the # reg. IR and ARR scores I gave were approx.
I assumed that for 25 years if IR scored 40 movies a year ( I think 40 out of 100 tamil movies a year cud be probable), this is an average only
and in 10 years ARR cud have given 7-8 movies a year (hindi, telegu, malayalam included)
anyway the #'s are besides the point and the intent was how jmuch % of it was quality product. But I agree with "normal man" that this is arbitrary and cannot be substantiated...

bharath,
i always suspected that you didnt know your details-you have just confirmed by 'ripping' my list.the other first timers will include directors like vamsi in telugu, rajkiran, manobala.so many producers moved into big league because of him-the list is too long-includes likes of raajkannu, panju arunachalam, koviithambi, sangili murugan, rajkiran etc.
cosmician,

IR did invent the wheel-atleast as far as IFM is concerned.probably people like vanraj batiya can compose by writig notes-but without playing it loud-well, you have only IR doing it.
if you like andhi mazhai-go thru an entire thread called technicalities in TFM-all present day dfers should do that-there are atleast 100postings dissecting this one song.i am technically not musically literate.you may probably be able to appreciate these postings.where are all those dfers who contributed to that thread?I think they are tired of this IR is better than ARR-ARR is better than IR game and have decided-naan indha vilayattukke varalai.

cosmicfan,
You totally missed the point I was trying to make and you tried to peep in ARR, which I did not want. Let me reiterate again, I respect ARR and his works and I admire his compositions. But personally, I have some benchmarks and so does every person in this forum.
Please add that this means genius according to you
Come on man this is totally absurd. A forum is a place where individual ideas, opinions & thoughts are reflected and not that of each other’s. If I were able to reflect the thoughts of you, then you need not post here.
So the bottom line is, I have explained (with a minuscule example from a ocean of resources) what a genius is. Avoid re-inventing the wheel might hold good for software engineering. But to enthrall, to be genuine and last long, originality from scratch is always required. If IR were not to reinvent the wheel and followed MSV's style, he would be nowhere. So is the case with ARR. So the reinventing the wheel logic of your is not valid.
