All times in EST +10:30 for IST.
songs have comeout very well.
side A:
ele machi machi--- sung by kamal and udit narayanan. sung very well by kamal, but udit's tamil pronounciation is not impressive ,but maybe it is intentional bcos madhavan is an NRI in this movie. colloquial and catchy. very good road philosophy.
mounamae-- good melody. spb's daughter makes her debut.
naatukuoru--- kamal and others.nice song. a rarity in tamil cinema. a typical song which is often used in theatres and koothu=pattarai. nicely sing by kamal. nice wordings by pralayan
Side B:
Anbae Sivam: sung by kamal and karthik.best song in this album. very, very excellent wordings. a nice, beautiful.sensible song.kudos to vairamuthu.
ele machi machi--- a repeat of the previous song in side A. but it is sung by udit narayanan and tippu. i think the first song in side A was better than this. i doubt this song willl feature in the movie.its just to fill in the album.
poovasam-- sadhana sargam and vijay prakash.
starts off brilliantly. one of the best melodies of recent times.

I heard it was anuradha sriram who dubbed for kiran in the movie?????

Anuradha Sriram dubbed for Kiran!
Adhaan, "kadhavu idukkila mAttina eli mAthiri" irunthathu kural!! ;)
Wonder why she couldn't get her Tamizh diction right?(when she sings, she's usually good in pronunciation)
IMO, Yesteryear actresses like Sarita and Rohini did some excellent job in this dubbing department.

If it is Anuradha Sriram then Uma Riyzkhan s comment "chappa vai" suits.
AS, a talented singer is trying to prove it by failing in other departments...music direction for 5*,now this dubbing fiasco.
Saritha , Lakshmi and recently Savitha Reddy are my favourites.Unlike Saritha, Laskhmi did few films like Andha Ezhu Naatkal but she was involved and good.
Watching "Machi Machi" again & again as this is my Son s favoutie these days...Madhavan is outstanding and that is an understatement.

Good postings by PP,OISG and the IMKM.
I too agree to most of your comments. This film is a must to see film for those who wish to see good cinema . Kamal at his best...and a very well underplayed character...Maady might very well win the best supporting actor award for this years NA.
I wish this film is a hit. Having said that I would not be too sad to see the film fails for its unnecessary utterance about aethism(spelling correcta)..that too Hindu aethism thru dialogs.
Kamal makes this mistake often. He is a non believer, then to put forth his ideology he has to make films like what Velu prabakaran does...
He should be bold...not like what he is doing in his films reperatedly.
Kamal himself has said that film is an art and personal messages should not come in that...he doesn't believe in art cinema (the other parallel) and always tried to make good cinema...Then why does he always talk about his aethist phillosophy.
In Sathya...he ties the sacred thaayaththu to his biceps only after some comments on that to his sister.
In Mahanadhi, he sarcastically remarks about God to PViswanathan in Jail. Also looks somewhere in the sky when his daughter worships from the Gopuram top.
In hey Ram...even though he wears Naamam, still he shows the aethist character in him.
In film after film he does that. It some how makes me feel that he has not done any different character...All his characters are the same.
While in AS he shows a Hindu who says "Ennadudaya Sivane potry" (a very ameturistic manerism...reminds me of my school dramas) as a villian, in the same breathe he shows the cristian nun as a noble lady....while he remains a aethist and says he himself is a God..I am confused what is his final ideology on this matter...Atleast he should stop confusing me in film after film...
He should leave aside his ideology and speak only what a character in that film is supposed to speak...Or else...I don't see him in league with best actors (read..cinema artist) in the world.

AY
That s why i mentioned "saarvagam".Atheism is not new to us.Even our puranas mention about Jabalika Munivar who preaches atheism. In Hindu myhtology atheism too had been accepted as a form of worship and the related arguments are called "Saarvagam".(which incidentally carry another meaning ...."VETTI PEACHU").
For Kamal,it is a constant attempt to show that he is different.Poor chap!Dont try to get to know his idealogy ,for he has none!He is a good actor and a great cinemaman and thats all!
For that matter most of the vociferous atheists of TN connect to GOD thru their spouse!(My aunt attended a Lakshmi Ashtothram pujai with Mrs.Stalin chanting! We saw Mrs.Visalakshi Nedunchezian leading the poojai at Melmaravathur!)
Kumudam published Kamal infront of agni in traditional attire during his wedding with Vani Ganapathy....If i remember right May 5th 1978!He will visit Vaideeswaran koil to see the one copy of many floating Agasthiyar Olai chuvadis. You ask him he would say
"I am not superstitious till date - Touch wood!"

Poor chap. I am a beleiver in God and believe that kamal has all that in him and if he sheds this disguise of atheism (correct spellingaa..) then he will definitely acheive that one step that he is longing to conquere. I was really moved by this film , but his repeated utterance about atheism drove me crazy.
Now if you objectively look at the film's message,
you will find...
The Theist Nasser is well place..Got his daughter married to a man of his status...he acheived all that he wanted in the beginning of the film...Even though he had to give salary more that Rs. 910/- at the end.
Take the case of Madhava...a theist....reached the spot at the right time and married the women whom he loved (That is what he says to Kamal...Love marriage)
Take the case of SB, even though he lost his daughter (or got her on to bed)...he still lives with all wealth and support. Ofcourse...he paid for his bad deeds...
Kamal..the Mr. perfect..atheist...but good man..al thru the film he suffers...and at the end when I thought the this time atleast this atheist should win...he again loses and disappears in oblivion...reminded me of a Leo Tolstroy story.
Couldn't understand what he is trying to convey.

I agree that Kamal tries his best to impose his belief (or the lack of it) to many of his films (Parambarai Dravidian cinema tradition of propaganda perhaps??).
Speaking of wedding, Kamal followed suit with Sarika (wearing the Maharashtrian 9 yard saree, sporting a vermillion-filled forehead) many years later. Was it a religious ceremony, I don't know. He might have a Balle Balle wedding at a Gurudwara in the near future!! Who knows?
Whatever his personal beliefs may be, he definitely 'stands-out' from the also-rans!
"I am not superstitious till date - Touch wood!"
OISG, :) I loved this one.
What I dread the most is the possibility of Anil (Yuck) Kapoor trying to hijack this movie to Hindi yet again, and making a mess of it. Imagine having a title like "Love and God" and directed by Satish Kaushik with music by Annu Malik (and an item number by Isha Koppikar)??? Kamal for monetary reasons may very well sell his story to those parasites, who thrive on originals from Tamil and Telugu, but hardly acknowledge the same (unless it's a Kamal or a Mani Ratnam)!

The Anil Kapoor movie title would be
"Aadmee ho aadmee se pyar Kartha hai" -AHASPKH in short.the title runs the risk of being misconstrued as a "GAY" film added to the fact that there are 2 heros!(Saif Ali khan may play if the misconception is true!)
Other option could be "Eashwar Allah tero naam" -EATN in short.
Since there is Madhavan s marriage scene the chances of remake are bright!Bipasha basu in shocking pink gagra choli would steal Anil s shoes!
What is worse is the chance of Fardeen khan doing Madhavan s role!Pasi sathya s role would be transposed to a muslim family played by Alok Nath and Aruna Irani!Sister role would be a Sardar played by Paresh Rawal!
PP,LEts pray!

OSIG, AY,
How can you say this movie preaches 'atheism' when all Nallasivam says is 'I am god...you too are god'. Is he not simply stating 'aham Brahmasti'?
Is it not 'advaitham'? Is 'advaitham' not Hinduism?
The point he is trying to drive across is that people are looking for God in temples and churches, while God lives in every being he/she created (even the dog - this is contrary to Christian belief and very much in line with Hindu belief)
Is 'makkal seevaye mahesan sevai' an atheist statement? Judging from your writings, it is.
OSIG:
"Dont try to get to know his idealogy ,for he has none"
I guess this was an attempt on your part to tell us subliminally that you are a man of strong ideologies. Poor chap. Not Kamal. You!
AY:
Do not despair. The movie is not atheist. It is very theist. I consider 'adwaidam' to be the purest and best form of Hinduism - many would agree.

if anyone could say..Anbey Sivam in a movie with Atheist..message...then Kamal have wasted his effort..
i have never seen a better movie with such a strong message lately...
Kamal...u will be one of the good movie creator, may be not succesful movie...but a movie that passes message...

When you believe in God,there is no need to have man-made idealogies. So you are correct and i dont have an idealogy. All i have are my prayers, wishes , my efforts to reach out and my experiences.
To say that i am a believer what is the need for subtlety?
Atheism and communism are anti-god and anti-mankind and they have failed globally.Kamal is trying to market these failed products which alternatively are good products for cinema making in India.
It s a pity that he is trying to sell pagers to send Marxian messages thru ads in the net and GPS mobiles(read ..his acting talents and technically superior movies)
