Hi! We've made a major addition to newtfmpage, and that is a big song bank. Dhool features thousands of songs for your listening pleasure. This site is a part of the newtfmpage.com - swara.com group. Together with newtfmpage, we wish to make this the best place to listen to tamil film songs online and know about tamil film music. Our collection includes old, new, famous, rare and unheard of songs. We are still fine tuning and fixing the database errors, so please bear with us.   I heard 'poo mela veesum poongaatre en mel veesa maattaya' , for the first time at my aunt's home at chennai , during one of those school annual exam holidays. It was a hot summer , still,

  - An extremely rare song to get to the weekend. Sung by S. Janaki. Music by Ilayaraja. Thanks to Vijay for this song.
  
  - Azhagiya kaNNE was a Mahendran film. It was released in 1982, the year Mahendran did the film 'metti' as well. I don't know anything else about the movie; It probably flopped big time. I vaguely remember a beautiful S.P.Shailaja solo in the film as well.
  
  - The song is another testament to the strong creative partnership between Mahendran and IR. The rich interludes and SJ's fresh voice are notable. I also liked the prelude and the pregnant pause before the pallavi starts off in the beginning.

  azhagiya kanne starred suhasini,charuhassan as a poli samiyar and a kid ( anju?!). I do not remember the male lead - raja/dilip/ chandrasekar type yaaro. I am thankful that i have forgotten most of the movie.
  I do recollect one small incident though. the theatre was full and my friend and me were returning when we were approached by a black marketeer. in 82 the balcony rate at Raja was Rs 2.30. my friend just handed over a fiver and asked for two tickets. surprise of surprises we got the tickets! So in a way we were forewarned and probably that is why my erase button was on as i sat through the movie. it had reincarnation ,aavi business also I suppose.

  The prelude and second interlude are of particular appeal, and SJ adds to the delight with a wonderful rendition. Lyrics by GA?
  
  I vaguely recall reading about this film. It was perhaps Mahendran's only attempt at making a horror movie in the lines of 'The Omen' or 'Exorcist'. Saratbabu, Suhasini, Charuhasan and Baby Anju were in the cast.
  
  bb, the S.P.Shailaja solo you're referring to is probably 'pala jenmajenmaandhara bandhangaL'. The other songs were 'chinna chinna kaNgaL' (KJY) and 'yE mama kOvama' (SPS)

  saravanan, the heroine was not suhasini. It was sumalatha who comes as ghost. 'Chinna chinna kangal' will make your spine chill. 'Pala jenma jenmaandhira' is also a melodious devotional song by SPS. bb and vijay, kudos to you for this great song

  Dear Mr Balaji,
  
  Even before hearing the song (some problems of real audio), I just write this to express my core-of-the-heart thanks for hosting this excellent gem of IR. I have no words to express my emotions at this moment.
  
  This film is made on the faith kept on Baby Anju who made a sparkling performance in Udhiri Pookal but due to the weak story line (on poorva jenmam and thriller mixed ) it failed. It has three other beautiful songs :
  
  1) Chinna CHinna Kangal Rendu by Jesudoss. IR's chromatic scale experimentations in BGM for the thriller/susepense situations extended to the song also, and this is one good example.
  
  2) Aey Maamaa...Kobama..is another song A kind of teasing song...in western style..!
  
  3) The song mentioend by you is a pick of the film..."Pala Janma Janmaandhara Bandhangal Theerppaal,,,, Ammaa Moogaambaa..." set in Keeravani will move anybody into tear. A very strong emotion filled song ! All these are missed by TFM forever !
  
  Hope you may be able to find those songs also and share with us some point of time

  Thank you so much Vijay for your prompt response and gesture. I am able to download from CG site. (Earlier, from the same CG I was not able to get it even after repeated attempts. Now I could get this gem). I fully echo your sentiments on the customised CD, even though HamaraCD of HMV is doing something like that, we are not able to get most of such rare songs, which are missing for ever.

  "thenral thaalaatum neram" - If I had not been told it is VKumar's composition, I would have presumed it to be Shyam's. It is strikingly similar to "vaanam panneerai thoovum"

  Mythila, You're right. The similarity struck me too. Kalvadiyum Pookal came 2 years later.
  Perhaps the similarity was unintentional, for 'thendral thaalaatum neram' didn't get much airtime!

  wow!!! Iam glued to today's song of the day naan irukkum andha naal varaikkum. I am hearing this for the first time and Iam looping through this song for the entire day. We younger generation have missed many a melodies like this. Thanks to the admin people for hosting this song

  - IdhayathilE oru idam was released in 1980. I couldn't find much info on the movie or on the song. The song has a beautiful prelude. This prelude was the title piece of a sun tv programme long time back. Does anyone remember the programme? MV seems to be a bit subdued in his singing. Much of the charanam lyrics doesn't make much sense ("sirikkindra peNgaL kaaviyangaL, aNaikkindra aaNgaL OviyangaL' etc).

  The constant ending of all the words in "gaL" makes it a bit annoying to listen to, but apart from that a pleasing song. A forgotten one too.
