  Vasu , IR except in the word 'Ananda rAgam' in the first line of the song 'athisaya rAgam' (where it is Valaji), the rest of the song uses only 4 swarams (including the interludes) and therefore Mahathi based.

  :-) Anu, atlast i got a support for Lathangi (Chinna raasave). The confusion abt madhyamam almost made me sing,"chinna raasave madhyamam enna kadikkudhu" :-))

  This was what I'd posted earlier-no responses.
  <<1 more GREAT(not in the +ve sense) kalakkal I think is Kannathil mutthamittaal.What a "musical digression" if I can call it!(Kaapi+Darbari Kaanada-pallavi,from enadu sondam neeye...-God knows what raaga it is-sounds vaguely like hamsaanandi(but also has M1,R2-which hamsaanandi doesn't include))
  pallavi-kkum charanathhukkum suttamaa samandam illai,which is why I don't like that song.
  But another song -kala-kala.....from Rhythm(by Sadhna Sargam),though involving 2 entirely different raagas(Shankarabharanam and Kaapi & Charukesi)is I think very pleasant to hear. >>

  :-))) I had the same thought while playing the song. It took some time to just get the keys right. Oru kai paaka poren indha "Nenjil jil" Paata. I am gonna have a hard look tonite and will post my thoughts on what raga it is. Guys, get pinch of salt ready :-))

  I think the song "yaron sunlo zara" from the film Rangeela is based on raga "Natabhairavi" (that too) no anniya swaras used...

  I wud say Yaaron.. is SindhuBhairavi.
  The charams show P-N2-D2-D1,which is a typical SindhuBhairavi prayogam.Ofcourse,the pallavi does sound like Natabhairavi.

  i dont agree with u on Kannathil muthamitaal song...I happen to hear the instrumental version of the song (kannathil muthamitaal)… it sounds perfect and I don’t agree that it is jayachandran’s voice which makes the song sound better… yes he has added great feel to the song but the tune by itself is great and very different… particularly the background chords which has been used in such a way that it sounds more like an insect flying around ur ears… and very different usage of BGMs…

Know what, when i point to some ragas in ARR's music, he has said many times,"i think i will post in the raga thread and get isairasigai's opinion !!!"
