  Here is a review of ivan in the musicmagazine.com:
  . Bad news for his fans: he disappoints severely. Not a single line or snatch of melody stays or haunts. The old touch does not surface except in very distracted, lost patches in some interludes and intros. Sad let-down from a genius.

  For me it is too early to analyse NagaS. I have not listened to it enough to form an opinion. Whether it creates a stir or disappears into oblivion, only time can tell. As for Suchitra, naybe her expectations were high.
  
  On a different note, I was listening to a song from Devan this afternoon and it was pretty listenable. Which surprised me considering the bad reviews this forum has been giving.

  Given the fact that this e-zine is focussed on music, i was dazed when i read the review on IVANN's music by reviewer Suchitra Lata.
  
  The review was nothing short of being termed outrageous. The raga selection & usage in film's songs were one facet that i was eagerly looking for in the review, but alas the author never even bothered.[Theriyalayo ennavo paavam ;-). I am afraid she has even mentioned the raga names wrong. Sutham!!!!.]
  
  Its time this ezine got hold of some decent reviewer who knew music better. Not any freelancer who manages tame write-ups on lyrics, the actors, actresses blah blah blah.

  Just before you start branding Suchitra as an IR - hater, she is probably the most knowledgable critic on the film music scene today, with a healthy reverence for IR.

  I was actually trying to avoid the kind of postings as made by Vels. All it takes is another CAPITALS MONGER and all hell will break loose.
  
  Well, you can't win them all.
  
  Kartik, I was actually expecting something in the league of Sinthu Bairavi (courtesy, our very own Vels.) :)
  It is nobody's fault if IR does not deliver when he has set such a high standard for himself in the past. :)

  Hey Guys..Suchitra Lata is a good reviewer. She is very appreciative of IR most times. If at all any reviewer can do justice to IRs music review wise. Only she can. Read her reviews on karisakkAttu poovE and other films. I even felt that Sudha was singing gamakams at exactly the expected places..or either there is too much of it (like in kannAAAA neeee ennn isaaiii naaathaa oooooviyam !!!) ..mind you I am not a serious/classical listener.maybe this is the norm in a classical setting.
  
  Somehow I feel malayalam listeners are getting a better offering from IR more consistenly than us tamils.

  Suchitra lata isnt really the best reviewer i have known but i wont bother to object anybody's else's opinion about her. Personally, i have found flaws in her stating even obvious facts about artists and their performances in some of her reviews. And her knowledge of raagas leaves much to be desired . I find her review very ordinary and this is irrespective of her take on IVAN .

  May be it is because they dont complain gamakams or the excess of it and are more mature and receptive to the idea of a classical singer singing a very classical composition even in a commercial film . All imho ..and absolutley NOM !

  Isaipriyan, I stand corrected. I still think Suchitra is one of the better film music reviewers out there.
  
  Outright classical thye may be, but IMO the Sudha songs are not up to Sindhu Bhairavi standards -- but I liked 'Appadi Pakkarathunna' and 'Dhoolu' a lot
