i have been subconsciously waiting for such a topic. in the movie "mouna ragam" goes the song "Nilave vaa". a beautiful melody by raja and rendered flawlessly by spb. unfortunately there was one tiny juxtaposition in the charanam

"ore oru parvai thandal enna thene
ore oru varthai sonnal enna mane"

man is known for vizhi and parvai whereas then is for varthai )"then mozhiyal"

i don't think it was an exhibition of the lyricist's ignorance but was a genuine slip.

Anban - Thoonilum iruppan thurimbilum iruppan is in reference to Naraayanan. Krishnan was the manitha avathaaram. During that time, Naraayanan could have been everywhere, but Krishnan could only have been in Goakulam and its surroundings. Neengal entha vitha explanation koduththaalum, kutram kutramey. Sorry for the short lecture on theology. :-))

rjay - Bones has already explained how this song came about. It's something to do with politics and the colours of DMK - Karuppu, sivappu.
A complicated explanation for the simplistic lyrics. :-))

I think that the song from Indian is right in the sense that I think the lyricist is trying to imply that no one else other than the government can stop them from walking adamantly. I think this way bcos its more in the form of question like "Itha pathi kekka nee yaaru, Nakeerana"( this is just an analogy no offence intended on anybody or even for that matter to Nakeerar too ).

contextual).

Good observation. But couldn't this is kind of like an actor playing a thief in one movie and playing a cop in the next movie. In the Kizhakku Cheemayilae song, VM is writing on behalf of the Annan character's beliefs.

In Annaamalai, he writes from a Milkman's perspective which obviously considers milk as the cure all and gives only the good points of milk.

You mentioned about Yamunai. Yamunai, Gangaiyin kiLai Nadhi. Many people talked about Andhi Mazhai Pozhigiradhu.. song. One person mentioned about how the blind Kamal can see the face? Actually in the movie, SPB sung the song for re- recording and that continued in the background.
But there are mistakes in that song. Diamond adikkadi ippadithan edhavadhu thappu paNNuvar. andhi mazhai pattai poruththa varaikkum I can blame on IR only.. (Sorry IR Fans) adhavadhu mettukku poda patta pattu idhu. Diamond mettukku eththa madhiri pattu ezhuthi irukkar.
