Jai Kishan:-))
Nice song and good come back - very nostalgic and interesting work...
3 decades ago, we had Shankar - Jai Kishan scoring for Raj Kapoor these kinds of melodious songs...If you were born then;-) with your current name and this song could be potentially a song for such all time classics...
Jeena Yahan...Marna Yahah was 3 decades ago by sankar jai kishan and then now
Tanha Dil:-)) by just young Jai Kishan...
I liked this song for various good reasons...
Regards,
Aditya

Hello Folks:
Seems like there's a long silence in this thread...Here's my new score "Water" -> Again I am with my abstract imagination...
Life and Water - they contain each other -> Human life contains water within themselves and the humans belong to some culture and there's some other kind of life in the water inside human life - does the life within the water inherit the same culture:-))

Hello Folks,
Well I am adding a new score after my friend Vijay suggested it!. Here it goes
http://www4.ncsu.edu/~pmaji/music/GoPack.mp3
This is my first score ever!.. So would like some feedback!

Hi Parthan
Good start!...keep it up,
I was impressed with the song opening.
Try to play around with the sounds.
I see you have used a string patch for lead, I guess this to the lead. A string lead [not in the opening, stings from 0.40seconds] is suggested when you have all 3 sections playing.
It sounds kind of keyboard patch.
Did you any preset loops? the opening theme in strings did not change much, I was expecting a bridge or a chord change.
I see you have the potential to do it.. Welcome to this page :)

Parthan, I liked the opening of the song...Funky Carnatic feel...try and show some more variations...
Glad to be introduced to another new talent on this page!!!

Aditya

Aditya,
Ur opening notes suggested a piece in C major, but it turned out to be in F major. :-). Also, is the piece mainly in Hamsadhwani scale?
how did u get the sound from 25 secs to 36 secs? It is cool. Also, may be my imagination, but did u have some sounds being played in the reverse at 2:50 and at 2:54? I didnt hear them when the same melody was played around 0:44 secss.
Parthan, nice piece. To me, it felt like a different kind of trance number. Drums are cool, with a retro feel. Also, i liked it when u did the main melody (with more variations) as kinda secondary when u divided into the left and right ears, and had the monotonous (note wise) drone in the middle.

Thanks folks!.. I 'll put up an improved version in a couple of weeks based on your suggestions!. I should experiment more with strings, this was more of a first cut...

Sam:
Thanks for your observations and appreciation.
Yes I did alternate between C Major and FMajor Scales. Notes of Hamsadhwani have been used quiet frequently in the main melody. Consciously I tried to implement some silly idea (as per purist view i.e., mine to some extent;-) )...
Lack of Madhyamam in the Hamsadhwani scale ->
Play with ambiguity of the notes of this scale as child of either notes of sankarabharanam or notes kalyani...Please note that I am not treating them as carnatic ragas but as simple set of notes...
I am not completely successful with my silly idea. When i get some free time in my life, I will try the same with carnatic embellishments. I alternate between C Major to FMajor only to change the mood into notes of kalyani and sankarabharanam...
Sound that you liked was made as a combination of fretless bass, waterdrop and Pads...There are some reverse effects applied in the score at that time...
I enjoyed working on this score.

Aditya

After longtime I have come across very interesting score. Totally different from the others one you have scored.
You have managed to interwine major minor scales beautifully without discord.
And also interesting expermentations with various ragas like tilang, panduvarali, charukesi all the scale shifts are seamlessly done kudos.
use of chorals also add color to this.
It also has punk & electronic feeling.
I wish you also used violin, flute for the lead instead of only piano
keep up the good work

Hello all,

Just now i browsed through this thread and heard some of your original compositions. SOme of them are really outstanding. I am at the stage of kindergarden regarding music composition. So expect some really stupid questions from me abt music.
Srikanth ji, just now i glanced through ur website. It seems u worked with SPB. Can u plz describe ur experiences with him. I grew up listening to his songs.
