Emotional compliments and Jealous or derogatory remarks

TMS, Vani Jayaram are notorious for their negative remarks on IR. Even we hear that KR passed some comments on ARR. I have read the frontline article where Naushad, HPChaurasia, L Vaidyanathan showered praises upon IR. In this thread, can we get to know all of those compliments, jealous and negative comments of various artistes on other various artistes. It will be interesting for those who do not the full content of what was said and when said.

  Murali Sankar, this is great feedback from MSV. IMHO, Raja took off from where MSV left off or where MSV did not venture. They both are like the faces of Brahma.

  Bramha is showing three views of (only)three of his four faces. Why didn't he show the fourth as Ravana did, if he had given importance to the fourth.It is because the fourth one (Deva ???, you said so, Velaiyaththavan)is a mixture (copy????) of all the three. Those three may be identical but he wants to show the minute details.

  MSV in an interview in Kumudham or Ananda Vikatan, was asked whether he worked for IR during the time in the late 80s when he was kind of "jobless" .
  MSV replied thus : " idhai kettuvittu yen rasigar oruvar Delhi il tharkolai seidhukolla muyarchhi seidhaar"
  Adaavadhu, a MSV fan could not tolerate the rumor that MSV for his status worked for somebody like IR
  I doubt whether IR ever made such an acidic personal attack on

  Madhan: Are you sure? I doubt whether in the first place MSV intended to make an attack. From what I have seen and know, the relations between IR and MSV are impeccable. (MSV is addressed by IR as "Anne").

  Madhan,
  I don't think there is anything wrong in MSV's anguish over that question. But I don't know the truth if he really did. Even if he did work, it might have been on a friendlier gesture. There is no business for press to ridicule a renowned composer by asking a question like that. Indeed there could have been a truth in his reply that if he did agree, it could have resulted in what he commented. There is no necessity to read between the lines on MSV's comment, IMHO.

  I heard from one of my friends that MSV indeed was "helping"/ "assisting" IR in his movies in late 80's.But it was purely personal.But i can't vouch for its authenticity.

  Madhan,you are right. Even I had seen the article. But it was not meant to say anything derogatory about IR, but for explaining that he did not join IR. In fact it was IR who had compelled MSV that they work jointly for a film and thus was born "Mella thiranthathu Kadhavu".

  Last week, i happened to watch E-TV ( i beleive it is eenaadu television, a telugu satellite channel ).. Every sunday, they telecast a programme which is a cine-music singing competition, held infront of the general public in an auditorium and conducted by none other than S.P.B
  
  In last week's programme, one of the participants sang a song, presumably composed by vidyasagar.. after that person completed the song, SPB chipped in with his remarks ( ofcourse, in telugu.. I dont know the language.. but this is what he meant.. )

  ( sings a couple of lines from the charanam of the song.. ).. "See how it goes.. ( sings it again and continues..) this is typical of Ilaiyaraja.. see how lovely it is.. you cannot find any composer who doesnt have the influence of IR.. such is his impact May God give him a long long life.."

  Great. I am reminded of a similar compliment in the same programme by SPB towards IR. It was an year back. One of the contestants sang Telugu version of "Naadham En Jeevanay" from "Kaadhal Oviyum". Once she was done, SPB appreciated her and explained to audience how the line "Undhan Raaja Ragam Paadum neram paarai paaluruthay oh " is composed so unconventionally. He sang the tune and said "Hats off to composer Raja". Luckily he talked in English for a minute. For me it was amazing to hear SPB render the song as he had not done it in the film.   Around 18 months back, I was extremely fortunate to watch the Maestro
  perform live in Madras, in Kamaraj Memorial.. ( Would like to know, if
  IR has given live programmes in madras before this, if so, when..?? )
  
  The programme was publicised to be for the benefit of SICA ( South
  Indian Cinematographers Association ). Several film personalities
  attended that programme and it was an out-of-the-world experience,
  watching every known face in the industry, showering praises on the
  Maestro..
  
  Because the programme was organised for the benefit SICA, I could
  spot P.C Sriram, Balumahendra and the likes.
  
  To start with, the Conductor of the programme, if I could call him so,
  called on stage actor Sivakumar who owns the enviable distinction of
  being maestro movies' FIRST HERO.

  Ram Kumar this is just amazing. I have missed all IR's concerts, now people are in retrospective feeling senti about IR. I like Sivakumar's and BM's compliments because I too would say the same stuff.

  it's very much true that sivakumar afterwards has a got a lot of hit songs from IR. bhadrakaali, chitukuruvi, uravaadum nenjam? kadavul amaitha medai etc. all had hit songs and these were all before 1980!!

  There was a mention in kumudham (or vikatan) that Ganagi Amaran congratulated ARR after he won the national award. Infact the mag had also raised a question if IR should have done the same ?
