  My dear friend, I was discussing with the TV presenter Kalaichelvan's brother at Hoover Theatre before when Thalapathy/Mannan were released(fyi,the topic was abt how much it'll cost to install DOLBY STEREO SYSTEM in indian cinemas. Mind you, during then, even English cinemas in S'pore didn't stabilise with this system yet!). Dear, I know who owned Hoover both before & after the renovation and I happen to know other stuff as well so please don't make a fool of yourself showing your naivety by going into embarrassing lectures.
  
  I can't believe your childishness. Are you saying if Cathay Cinema had shown a Rajini movie and had that collection broken records or overtaken box office takings of Hollywood's Mann Chinese Theatre premiers then the whole of Cathay Building or Cathay House would have remained functioning?
  
  Pls answer this first before I can decide am I wasting time with you or not?
  
  Don't think i'm anti-Rajini. For all you know I could EVEN BE A MORE DEDICATED RAJINI FAN THAN RAJINIDOTCOM. I mean at least I know which same main title theme was used for 2 different Rajini movies with different music directors. Do you?

  It's not a matter whether you know Kalaichelvan's brother who owns Kavitha Video. The fact is fact. Because of Thalapathy's response, it gave him an innitiative to open Hoover Theater as New Happy is in bad condition.
  
  Next regarding Cathay Theater. If a Rajini film was to be released there, then the theater owner would have a chance to realize that there is a good potential to run Indian pictures not only Tamil but also Hindi. Hey Ram and other Tamil pictures didn't attract crowd as Rajini films. First impression is very important.

  i was there at Sathyam theater last sunday........and i am sure the theater wasn t full.......being a rajni fan i wud obviously want it run for more than 100 days!
  
  mayb this wud make it clear....
  the first time i went for BABA - Aug19,Monday,Night Show......ticket price Rs.150 (black!)......housefull
  
  the second time i went for BABA - Aug27,Tuesday,Matinee..........ticket price Rs.75.......theater NOT housefull........some 5-10 rows were empty
  
  the third time i went for BABA - Sep1,Sunday,Noon Show.......ticket price Rs.40.......theater NOT housefull.......a few rows (i guess those under clicktickets) were vacant
  
  the fourth time i went for BABA - Sep8,Sunday Noon Show.......ticket price Rs.50(balcony).......balcony was full......again keezha some rows were empty
  
  for any other rajnifilm i wudnt have even imagined that i cud see it 4 times in 4 weeks!......u know how difficult it is to get tickets!........actually for the tuesday noon show i booked tickets sumday evening at 5:00......and u wudnt believe it (neither did i!) that i was the first person to get tickets for that show! (dunno abt balcony though)
  
  and......more than some 20-25 theaters in the city screen BABA.......inspite of this if the film makes it to even 100 days dat wud be a record by itself i guess! :)

  oops......sorry.....mistake......Balcony wasnt full on Sep8.......there were some odd seats here and there which werent filled.......i guess those ppl din turn up for the movie for reasons best known to them!

  Dear Friends,
  
  Today Baba has reached 30th day successfully. Presently it is showing
  at Sathyam, Albert, Uthayam, Abirami, Maharaani, Sri Biruntha,
  Pirathana and Mayajaal at normal shows.
  
  3rd October 2002 (Thursday) will be the 50th Day of Baba. I hope it
  will reach all theaters including other towns of Tamil Nadu.
  
  2nd November 2002 (Saturady) is eve of Deepavali and it is 80th day
  of Baba. This will be the last day of Baba for many theaters.
  Following that it may run at Baby Albert and Bala Abirami. If it is
  showing three shows, then it is considered good. If it is Showing
  morning show only, then it is considered average. If it is not
  showing at any theaters after Deepavali, it means it is a flop!
  
  22nd November 2002 (Friday) will be 100th day of Baba. It may stop
  here and celebrate 100th Day function.
  
  If it continues to run, then it will reach 150th day on 11th January
  2003. It may run until eve of pongal which is 152 days. If this
  happened, then it is considered super hit movie.
  
  Lets hope it will reach 150th day and we will enjoy the success on
  the day of Pongal.

  I did not dispute this. All I was asking you was if a Rajini film was released in the Cathay cinema and collected tons of money do you think the 10storey or so Cathay Building(which houses the Cathay Cinema, Prudential Insurance Offices, KFC, and so many other offices and shops) would still remain?
  
  In other words, what you are saying is that the collection from the movie alone can actually influence the Cathay Building owner on his decision without considering for all the other companies, offices and shops in that same building.

  The music directors were the Deva and AR Rahman. Movie is Annamalai and Muthu. I think you are refering to the Rajini Title. If that is correct them my answer also correct. If something else, please tell us your question in detail.

  Next to Cathay theater was a picture house. They may consider keeping that theater for showing Tamil films and the main cathay theater may be redeveloped. Who knows?
  
  Just joking. Relax man. First of all, you shouldn't bring Hey Ram to this section. Next, you shouldn't have talked about attitude of Rajini fans by indicating the theaters such as Plaza and Broadway. Until now, they are the one who shows all Tamil films including your Kamal films. We should be grateful to them.

  how old are you 15? Because that is when people watch one movie more than 2 times in theater. That too movie like Baba.. I was a Rajini fan. When Payum Puli came i saw that once.. I could not watch it anymore.. I would give 30/100 to payum puli. For Baba i would give 10/100. That's why i am wondering how you managed to see that 4 times... Grow up man..
