A good singer and a friend of mine, Raja Govindarajan, met S.P.B at Chennai a couple of months back. During their conversation, SPB mentioned that he doesn't remember/have a lot of old rare songs that he has sung and would love to recollect them and have them in his collection. Raja then told SPB about newtfmpage and Song Of The Day section and the discussions that take place there. He then offered to give SPB a set of old songs.
Fast Forward to today; I prepared a set of 41 songs, and a 90 page booklet on the songs. All these songs are old SOTDs and the booklet contained the discussions on these songs. SPB came to the Bay Area today for a concert at Hayward. I met him at the backstage before the concert with Udhaya. We gave him the CDs and the booklet and talked with him for a few minutes. SPB was very courteous and thanked me several times. I was surprised that he made time to to even see us and accept this, just half an hour before the concert. I told him that we have a lot of knowledgeable people and huge collection of his songs, so if he wanted more we could give him whatever information he wanted.
The booklet that I gave him is here: http://www.dhool.com/sotd/spb.pdf .
The 3 CDs that I gave him included 4-5 more songs that are not in this list, like 'vaa ponmayilE', 'malarE ennenna kOlam' and 'thErOttam'.
Hopefully, if SPB goes through the CDs and the text, he will be impressed with the selection and would get back to me or RajaG with his comments.
An Exclusive Interview with SPB!

doubter,
I get your point :)
GKV fan,
Who acted in the tamil version?
I love this song big time, great romantic melody , awsome rendertion by the onle one only SPB+SJ.
Though PS had the greatest voice ever, I find SJ the most versatile singer ever, with a great ease of emoting emotions !!!
these two legendary ladies lacked one thing or the other, PS had great voice but not verstaile, SJ had versatilty but not so great voice like PS.
but wait, Dr.SPB has both, the greatest voice & the most versatile singer ever :)

Obviously, there are a lot of rumours that IR composed 'thEn sindhudhE vAnam'. Whether one beleives those rumours or not is his/her own wish. Sorry for starting this unwanted discussion. It sure does not fit this thread.
The tamil version starred Sivakumar and Jayachitra (I guess).

My interaction with SPB was a concert in Houston, TX a few years ago. I was a little embarrassed expressing my adoration for him in tamil, because there were scores of people around us, so I switched to Kannada, and immediately, he switched too, and spoke so fluently, that I was bowled over! What a person!, long live SPB

Doubter
You need not guess anyfurther.Such reckelss and obtuse rumours have already been deservedly lynched and sent to sepulcher during the Dfers meet with PBS who sang the kannada original.I suggest you read Saravanan's write up on GKV.May be it might lead you to a name change and attempt some sincere soul search & damage control.

OISG,
GKV indeed compsoed for the tamil version of 'TheEn sinthuthe vaanam', not IR, IR has mentioned this in an interview, IR also mentioned that MSV /GKV were his Guru's !, the IR interview was conducted by SPB him self!
This song is one of the if not the best romantic song in tamil music history, SPB+SJ have done an excellent job indeed, not to mention the tune of GKV and the lyrics of Kannadhasan(?)!

bb: Dhananjay has already posted earlier his comments on the interview. Now that others are making references about their own personal encounters or public interviews, he wants those experiences also to be recollected in this thread.
OISG- It needed somebody like you to put an end to the topic of the "thEn sindhudhE vaanam controversy" - especially when no controversy exists :-) :-).

Babaji,
I have met Dr.SPB/Dr.KJY & KS.Chitra in london, way back in 2001, I could not get a chance to speak to any one, as it was heavily crowded! The show was organised by some keralites, but most of the songs sung were Tamil/Hindi !
SPB, as he entered received a thunderous applause, as usual, he cracked couple of jokes about his broken ankle and stole the whole show by his voice

While talking about all those great songs of yesteryears, I was thrilled to hear the golden voivce in its prime with his very latest rendering of the title song for the new SUN TV serial 'kaNavarukkaaha' which comes very late at 12.30 midnight in USA! Don't miss it! And to note that this treat will continue night after night.. that is great!
Great to hear the maestro's voice still ringing in silver![or, should it have been gold!]
