Sandiyar renamed as Virumandi and cassette released

The most awaited sandiyar album is released .I heard all the songs.It has totally ten songs out of which 6 songs are sung by kamal himself and two are sung by illayaraja and 2 numbers by shreyaghosal.All the songs are perfect folk and 100% traditional tamil folk songs and the lyrics are excellent in the madurai slang and all are situational songs.I will meet u again with a detailed review.buy the album immediately for die-hard fans of IR

  The mp3s available at tamilstate.com is of poor quality, probably converted from raaga's streaming audio. Hopefully someone else will post a good quality version.

  IR could have use SPB for onna vida song. I feel that as far as IR is concerted SPB's time is over. At least that's what the media and the latest TFM trend has made him feel that way.. what a pity!
  
  But there is no fight between SPB and IR. They are still friends as ever. Note that SPB asked IR and MSV to sing the title song about friendship.

  The Nethiyiley Pottuvei Song ROCKS.... the thara thappattai sounds awesome ..
  
  but the pick of the album is onna vida...
  
  as far as the movie goes ..I just wish kamal doesn't over do things like he did in aalavandhaan.....he tends to go on this ATHIMETHAVIthanam trips and tends to over do(the graphics in aalavandhaan are classic examples)..
  
  anyway The first time i heard virumandi in raaga..i am like what the heck..what sound is this..and then when i finished hearing then kept my earfones down...onnavida song was sounding all over my head. and now i am addicted to it.
  
  I am now tripping on onna vida from Sandiyar and En uyir thoziyey from KKS...
  
  2 great songs from 2 great musicians...instead of fighting which one is better than the other etc..Just think we are blessed to be born in this era when both IR and ARR are composing music.

  for ur info ram, the smooth line as u call it "saatchi solla varuvaan virumandi" is a lifted tune apdiye from anuraadha paudwal's " om jai jagadeesha hare " ....but at any rate, this song IS good and so is chandiyare song...rest r boring ...though none of the songs r comparable to "elangaathu veesudhe" ..thas some mindblowin stuff. .

  Listened the songs once again. "Onna Vida", "Anna Latchmi", "Maada Villake", "Kobula Poova Chuthi" and "Chandiyaru Chandiyaru" are very good. Oppari song fails to create the mood of oppary. The other songs look like village temple festivel songs. Well Tried. Need to watch in the movie before commenting. When is the movie release planned?

  only those who appreciates both MD's masterpiece will have the last laugh.
  
  Anyway...
  I use to remember all of IR's songs would make u addicted from the first listening itself...btu why PM and VM requries second listening for us to like it......
  
  anyhow..IR is the best in terms of pucca village stuff. Kamal could never bargained for better one.
  I simply loves the lyrics which doesn't confuse us too much. It just concentrates on the story and helps us to picturise the whole movie.
  
  But not sure the ordering of the songs were done properly.

  ot of the ten songs onna vida is the best like kamal said it is one of IR's best works. better then pitamagan anyway, only elangathu was good in it. virumandi and kombila have really good picturising too. saw it at the function

  undoubtedly this is one of IR's best works. ike kamal said in the function. kombila and virumandi songs have a great visual appeal also. saw them at the function. onna vida is my personal favourite. has a very sensual feel and excellent lyrics. hope the visuals are good too,the coversation in the second charanam is excellent. looking forward to the films release

  It is very clear that the music is subject driven&Kamal is not looking at creating designer songs which will catch the fancy of the youth&create records in album sales.Still the album ROCKS,definitly one of IR's best in the last decade.There are 5 songs,3 bits incusive of an 'oppari',a 'theru koothu'&another song in the same tune as one of the 5(with little changes in the lyrics).'onne vida','Andha gandha mani'&'Kombule poova suthi'are extremely catchy-i have fallen in love with the 3rd one.'Sandiyere sandiyere'is good while 'Mada vilakke'is average.I felt Hariharan or unnikrishnan should have sung 'onne vida' while SPB should have sung 'Mada vilakke'-Kamal is not bad but they would have been better.Also 'magarasi Manna vittu'which is a 'oppari' song is very brief&need not have found a place in the album-it grates on the ears.Despite the 2 above mentioned flaws,it is an album with simple,good lyrics&excellent music.WORTH A BUY.

  But after hearing the songs, I feel a genious is needed to bring out the marvellous tunes from another genious...
