  For KRV too, PS' voice was so apt.. Mannavane azhalaamaa, Aththai madi meththaiyadi, Unnai kaaNadha kaNNum kaNNalla, Annamitta kaigaLkku, KaNden kayaNa peN pondra megam, VeLLi Mani Osaiyile, Nalladhoru kudumbam, Thedinen vandhadhu, Poomaalayil Or malligai, Thendralil aadai minna... ethanai then thuLigaL... indha list parakkum list..
  
  VJ also had sung many songs for KRV, but PS' was almost matching...
  
  Anyway, I still keep my vote for Vanishree.. U know even that humming in "VeLLi KiNNandhaan Thanga KaigaLiL" was also....as if Vanishree is humming.. Or its like this... Pattu mudindhu pinnal Vanishree pesum podhu, PS avarukku dubbing voice kuduthal pol irukkum... if anyone watch "Uyarndha manidhan" again, just keep this mind and you will agree with me.. :-))

  Tend to agree with Subbu. PS has sung the maximum for Vanisree. More in Telugu.
  The same experience you get when you hear the songs for Sarojadevi as well. In Puthiya Paravai, in Chittukurivu paadal, the first time when PS sings Muthamkuduthu, she says that with a konjum mazhalai, which gels with BS's pronounciation.
  Idhaya kamalam paadalgal, Vijayavai kanmun niruththum. "Malargal Nanaithane PaniyaalE" paadalil antha kaalai inimaiyum, KRVin prasanthamaana thotrathaiyum PS than kuralilE konarvaar.

  I know 3 of them
  
  1. "VeLLi KiNNandhaan Thanga KaigaLiL" from "Uyarndha manidhan"
  2. "kalaye en vazhkaiyil thisai matrinaai" from "Meenda sorgam"
  3. "Azhagu deivam mella mella adi eduthu vaithadhO" from "Pesum deivam"

  Some time back Raj asked "PS has sung all the songs in a film (other than KARPAGAM). Can you name the film?".I answered as "Komadha en kula madha".
  
  Now I remembered one more. This movie was on "Kamam and Passion and Love", an art movie acted by Mohan (Lakshmi's ex-husband) and Deepa. The expressions were thru classical dances. Music by L. Vaidhynathan or L. Subramaniam. The movie was shot in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam. Hindi film name is: Kaam kala thandav.
  
  I don't think the movie was released but the cassette was out. Somehow I digged our and retraced that cassette from my cassette library. Many are slokas kind of songs out 22 songs. All are our PS and no other singers. It is a real treat.

  Any one please clarify...? This is a long due doubt to get clarified...
  
  PS's first Tamil film song is "Edhukku vandhe" from "Petra thaai". It was in 1951. Is that very next song is "Unnai kaN thedudhe" (that vikkal song)? But this film released in 1954 I guess. How come this much difference? Or the songs that might have sung in between would not have been recorded in her data bank?

  Subbu: "Unnai Kan theduthe" is from "Kanavanae Kan Kanda Theivam" (Gemini & Anjali Devi). The movie was released in 1955. As I mentioned in my earlier piece, PS's singing abilities (most of the songs were hit)was noticed by many composers and then there was the making of a legend. PS never looked back after and PS & TFM became inseparable. Hemanth Kumar/A. Ramarao composed some memeorable tunes for the movie.

  Unnai kaanathe kannum kannala: From Idhaya kamalam, MD KV Mahadevan, artists Ravichandran and KR Vijaya.
  
  MuLLil rojaa thuLLudhe raaja: I guess it is from Kaatu Roja (not very sure), Padmini and SSR (rare combination acted in only one film together as jodi).

  Between 1951 and 1954 PS was on the rolls of AVM and she had rendered songs in their movies.
  "Anandha Dhandavam" The sole artist is PS and I think there is no other artist has such a feather in their caps. Who had rendered the songs in other languages?
  Do you know the full name of PS?
  "PULABAAGU SUSHEELA"
  A chapter on PS running to 40 pages in the book "Thirai Isai Alaigal" by Vaamanan is a treat and informative to PS fans. The book has chapters on several stalwarts. Kudos to Vaamanan!

  Raj, Kam Kalaa Thandhav(Hindi), Aananda Thandavam(Tamil) and other 2 languages were sung by PS only. No other artist.
  
  Raj, a correction... PS had become AVM artist in 1957 only... this I read in her interview in Mangayar Malar. Thats why I asked that question on between 1951 and 54?

  I have hindi cassette (Kam kala thandhav)... most of songs are like sloka type... still it is worth. As am not very familiar with Hindi pronounciations, I could not make any observation of the pronounciation part.. but inimai nichyam irukku

  muLLil rojaa thuLLudhe raaja is from yaar nee (mus Vedha) starring Jaishanker and J. The film was a remake of woh kaun thi (aval yaar?) w/ music by madan mohan. All the lata M songs were sung by PS in tamil plus veda lifted this one from a different movie (I think).

  ?? became ponmEni thazhuvaamal
  shokh nazar ki bijliyaan became paarvai ondre pothumaa
  
  There are a couple more songs I don't recall. One is a PBS duet w/ SJ (?) and another is a PS song again lifted from a hindi movie picturized on the 2nd heroine.

  Subbu, regarding the songs in which PS has given only humming, other than the 3 you have mentioned I can think of only one more- Thol kanden thole kanden from Idhyakamalam. They may be some more.
  However, such humming songs fell mostly into LRE's lot, and sometimes to SJ. PS very rarely was called for just humming. Later in the 70s, B Vasantha and BSS took over the roles of humming birds.
  
  Petrathaai seems to have been released only in 1953, though PS might have recorded the song (Ethukku azhaithaai ethukku) in 1951.
  
  kik, the theme song of Woh Kaun thi- Naina barse rimjhim rimjhim was copied superbly by Veda to give the haunting Naane Varuven ingum angum--.
  One more song is Kannukkenna summa summa yengudhu by LRE & co. I don't remember the hindi original of this song. Also I don't recall any PBS song in Yaar Nee.

  "kaNNey pApA" had Muthuraman as the hero. The other solo by PS was 'Katalaiyitathu...' picturised on Vijayakumari.

  Sugrutha, Kanne Papa(1969) had Muthuraman, KRV, Vijayakumari, Nambiar and a child actress who played the papa. Other than the title song you have mentioned, there are two more songs which I remember, one is Thendralil aadai minna (PS), and the other is Sathiya muthirai-PS & co (the famous christmas song, which Chennai DD used to telecast unfailing every christmas)

  Thanks. Yes, I remember the christmas song. I must be thinking of Thendralil aadai minna. I dont remember the mettu. Is it on the same lines as 'ikkaraiyil naanirukka', 'ennaiyeduthu thannai koduthu' etc. ?

  Hey guys, I read the huuuuuuge article by Vamanan on PS... really great. So much of details..
  
  One only kurai.. when the song "Malarndhum malaradha paadhi malar pola", Vamanan did not mention about the "Vimmal" (twice) by PS in the charanam "Thanga kadiyaaram..". Even now if PS sings that song in stage, there will be pin-drop silence in the auditorium. That much effective it is..

  The original for muLLil rOja is chhod kar tere pyar ka daaman (Mahendra Kapoor and LM). Interesting that Veda converted the duet into a solo and a solo (shokh nazar ki) into a duet (paarvai ondre pothuma).
  
  The very first song in yaar nee is a PBS LRE duet pakkam vantha... that had chikki chikki/tikki tikki or some other nonsense phrase repeated throughout. Picturized on JaiShanker and the 3rd heroine who gets killed shortly after the song.
