Perfectly support your statement, Mr.Aruvi.!!!
Every star has its bright era before diminishing. But the name remains in our heart. I welcome both IR and ARR's fame, those days and nowadays.

Aruvi good points,
Imho:.
There is nothing like knocking down and kicking out, this is not a heavy weight-boxing match.
Simply, forms of Music keep changing from time to time.
Some accept the new form, some don't
Take MSV, there was no need for him do what raja did then. Some argue MSV cannot do, Basically IMHO that’s all they know.
Like wise raja has composed tons of scores and there is no need for him to do this new form of music, he has seen extremes of music scoring,
Again here some comment Raja does not know much like Arr.
I repeat "that’s all they know".
Do you know that "MSV, IR and ARR" - they know about every musician in the Industry, they clearly know what others do and what can they do.
Basically key to their success was
MSV was not like GR,
IR was not like MSV,
ARR was not like IR.
They have their weakness and their strong points.
I cannot go to a Bugs bunny movie and expect a Kamalish "emotional outbursts".,
Like wise I don’t expect a 5 part arrangement from ARR (eg:raja kaiya vecha)
, Hey if I want 5 parts we have raja,
But If I want modern hip-hop kinds of variations in music (pachai nirame), hey! ARR is the best.
I take what everyone does the best, I believe each one of the 3 best TFM composers (MSV, RAJA, ARR) are unique in their ability to produce good music.
Another issue I often discuss is saturation point. , Many things in life come to automatic end. Age plays a vital role here. It goes to any composer,
How many of us will be here defending MSV/ IR /ARR in 10 years from now.
We do have a saturation point in discussing music.

and sometimes its so humorous how some think they've heard the best once they come out of the well.
but this kinda childish behaviour we only go thru when we're kid rite...i still can't believe it such mentality exists in a grown up person who can get into a place like tfm page...can this be due to naivity or ignorance....or is it juz a bystander wasting all our time(& probably his!)?

aruvi,
Beethoven and Bach were great composers, but are they popular with the mass? Do their symphonies sell as much as pop cds?
Even after 200 years, people still love their music. That's the beauty of classical music. OTH, pop cds can sell in millions now, but they will be forgotten in a decade. Even if someone has the market now, that doesn't mean they are classics. When considering, Raaja's music is classic anyday than current md's.

IR fan,
For some people, quality of music doesn't
matter and it is only quantity. When people
can conclude that Bharathy albums will
have more sales if ARR had composed, it
clearly indicates what is their taste of
music. And that too, after albums like
Vandemataram have clearly shown what
can be expected in a ARR album(pop style
music).
And going by an earlier posting by fan,
it is unfair to expect ARR to compose
albums like Bharathy with his style of
music. So where does the question arise
of ARR composing for an album like Bharathy
and that selling more?
And with all his limitations, why ARR has to be considered as the future of indian music(like many people project here). If the future of indian music has to depend on ARR, then I think it is going to be far from a bright one.

Athi, Frankly
I dont understand your claim till date.
But One thing I know for sure is Vandematharam is a great hit, a good album, it was done well by the people involved in it. Tell one thing musically incorrect in the album!, if you say Hype... "Hey Ram" ....what can i say further.
Secondly You have told something about quality , sales....ya da ya da....ya da..
How does a musician gauge a song is popular or not ?
How does a musician know his songs are doing well.?
Also,
Arr can be considered the best musician now for all his postive points. And Indian music is as bright as it was for the past 50 years.
We need to open our eyes to judge something is bright or dark. I keep it open.
For you and few others like you,
inspite of making waves around asia,
Arr is a dum musician totally.
There is also another set of people for whom ir is dum musician.
For few like me who enjoy the best music, waste our time explaining to both the groups.
Btw:I dont want to fight with you, i dont have energy. I just posted as there is something drastically wrong in your approach to get "good" music.

Athi: I want to put this as mildly as possible. But you leave me no choice. You are one of the worst fans of IR that I have seen in this forum. Frankly, you flatter to decieve. Your postings sound "apparently logical" with nice decorative language BUT always with an undertone of ARR hatred or fanatical IR glorification. There are some other posters who do that, but atleast they post one-liners and it is very easy to see that they need not be taken seriously. But your "paragraphs" have the same message over and over and over.
If you sworn to fight for IR's cause, then as another IR fan let me assure you, he doesn't need it. In fact, by crying foul everytime ARR's name is mentioned you are bringing a lot of discredit to yourself and IR.
Even when we started talking about copied songs (in a separate thread) you acted as if it was a conspiracy by ARR fans to somehow slander IR's works. I hope you have tracked the non-biased progress in that thread.
Athi- You are a good poster. Please rise above the "IR is great ARR is bad" kind of standard 'statements' and post content that you are capable of.

IR Fan,
Were we talking about quality? Were we talking about ever-lasting ability? I can tell you that I certainly wasn't. I had plainly stated that if ARR did 'Bharathi' the sales would be higher and I gave my reasons. Whether one has better quality than the other, is for the fans of each one to say. It is a subjective matter. I am baffled as to how to answer back to your posting because I don't want to put down neither of these talented tamil MD's. That is not my purpose:-))
Theva...
I just realized who you are...I know that you are a great ARR fan, but the number of great songs by IR is certainly not limited to what you listed:-)). He's done a great many more memorable numbers. And regarding your question about reaching international fame....the answer is: TIME. Think that through.
As much as I like ARR's music(most), I would consider myself foolish if I payed 150 hard earned dollars to see him fake an entire concert. That does no justice to fans who believe that their idol is playing live in front of them. IMO.

ATHI,
ALTHOUGH YOUR POSTINGS REFLECT THE TRUE FACT SOME OF THESE GUYS WILL NEVER GET TO UNDERSTAND ,BUT ONE THING IS SURE IR HAS ALREADY SHOWED THAT HE IS ONE OF THE BEST MUSICIANS IN THE WORLD BY THE SYMPHONEY WHICH IS WHAT REAL MUSIC IS IT IS NOT IN THOSE LOVELY POLISHED SOUNDS. AND IR IN HIS LIFETIME WILL CERTAINLY PROOVE HIMSELF AS "THE BEST" WITH LOT MORE SYMPHONEYS AND CLASSICAL MUSIC AND WHEN HE DOES THAT THESE VOICES WILL AUTOMATICALLY SUBLIME WE GUYS WILL JUST HAVE TO WAIT FOR THAT GOLDEN MOMENT.

Aruvi,
I know that IR's great songs r much larger than those that I have listed. I just said some that were on the top of my head.
ARR has been a professional MD for only 8 years. IR has been for over 20 years. Yet, IR has not got the fame .. forget the fame .. ppl I mean internationally do not enjoy his music as much as they do ARR's. Now I know IR sticks to classical Indian style music. Which is great. But in order to make the International market listen to Indian style music, you have to add a little bit of western to it... which I think ARR is doin' great. Sangamam is a very classical album. I love dat album.
Regarding the concert, I'm not rich, I'm only paying 50 dollars to see him. Just to clarify, a concert is made up of the music and the adrenaline and the ppl dat surround you. Whether its recorded or not, I'm gonna be jumpin' up and down and enjoying myself. Datz worth 50 dollars. Pluz i get to c the man himself!!
Also .. I am really gettin' bored of diz IR vs. ARR nowadays ... I c dat newtfmpage is made up of mostly IR fans. So no matter what I say it must look like I'm wrong. Maybe I am maybe I'm not. It just ticks me off when someone criticizes arr's work. In a wrong way.. IR and ARR don't even argue w/ each other .. y da hell r we?

I agree with you Theva.
This thread is one of the best ways(example?) to open a topic and see to it that you smoothly and surely pamper the HCIRF in you and bash ARR. Cynical to say the least:-(
