Dear Friends,
Let us vote for 'Adi Rakkamma' from THALAPATHI as our choice for the World's Top Ten Songs poll conducted by BBC!
I am suggesting this song because if in case the BBC people listen to the nominated songs, they will feel knocked out on hearing our Maestro's 150 Vioins' Strings Ensemble!
Let us all do it at:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/us/features/topten/
Yours Always Musically,
Vijay.

I definitely suspect some foul-play here! All of a sudden we have Vande Mataram coming on top! It's sad that votes are getting divided and as a result a Pakistani song may very well become the winner!
I wish the admin guys of the BBC Poll site have the IP addresses logged in, can verify authenticity of the email IDs provided by the voter and can make multiple votings null and void.
Let the truly deserving song win!

I believe poovum nadakkuthu pinchum nadakkuthu is an Eelam Tamil song about the exodus from Jaffna in 1995, when the Sri Lankan army invaded Jaffna.
You see this same exodus dramatised in the movie 'kannaththil muththa mittaal' to the song 'vidai kodu engal naade'.

Dear TFM fans
let us all make sure that the only tamil song in the top 10 becomes NO1. Let us forget the divide between ARR fans and IR fans.
Vote for RKT. let us make TFM proud.
AS somebody said do not allow apakistan number to become 1st
thanks

And 3 Tamilians? :)

I find this whole poll so silly. If I vote a 1000 times for my favourite artist, that song is gonna be #1. And I wonder how that is going to make that song any greater. Or increase IR/ARRs greatness. This is all so very silly.
And both ARR and IR have composed far better songs than the ones in that poll. Sigh!
- From: Are Yaar (@ 203.115.31.67) on: Sat Dec 7 00:28:52 EST 2002
God hell:
What is this?
If VM or RKT ..guys do any thing but let an Indian song be there always..That bl**dy Pakisthan song should be kicked of...
Let us have our fight internally between VM and RKT but let either of the one be the number 1 and the other at 2.
ARR/IR fans vote for RKT also when you vote for VM and vice versa...now its not a secret how to vote 1000 times.
So let an Indian rule..Lets fight it out internally but be united in having our name at top.
RK fans/IR fans /ARR fans and general Music fans unite.
- From: Are Yaar (@ 203.115.31.67) on: Sat Dec 7 00:33:27 EST 2002
I think this IR fans should stop nominating 100s of other IR songs and just vote for RKT if they wish. Don't split votes for God sake.
But, if you notice VM song is credited to Various Artist. I think it is because, when I voted I named the artist as ARR, but it was listed as BCC.
So there would have been a split in vote there initially as the system would have recognised the same song as two or more entries. They should have now sorted this out...
Now, lets show the world that we are better programmers that the Virus spreading/hacking paki guys...bl**dy.
- From: Are Yaar (@ 203.115.31.67) on: Sat Dec 7 00:37:09 EST 2002
At the End of the day..I again stand vindicated that this poll is the world's most rigged one. Accept it guys...the truth is on your face...
I now support this vote just for the sake of my country. Had the Pak song not been there, I wouldn't have given a damn to it. VM or RKT...I wouldn't have bothered.
- From: vc (@ 61.1.195.108) on: Sat Dec 7 01:20:27 EST 2002
so,
IR's song is going to loose ultimately.

In the general comments section BBC guy writes:
"General comment:
I personally dislike this sort of poll since the original question ("best song in the world") is meaningless. And the results are odd. The three first ones so far give an idea of what I mean. If those are the three best songs in the world, then I might consider emigrating to a different galaxy. "
Though I personally voted for RKT, this kind of imperial arrogance denouncing the contribution of the East altogether,be it ARR's or RDB's or say even pakistan's (or chinese), is absolutely detestable. After all, such people dont deserve a place if their so called "great songs" do not seem to appreciated by more than 1 billion people (India) in the world. Well, even before such a person could opt for emigration, I would personally, if powerful, would expel them out on the basis of creating disharmony by disrespect.

An Excerpt from Hyderabad TOI supplement today on Cassette Sales in Hyderabad:(not verbatim, for I am too lazy to hunt down links, cut-and-paste or for that matter, take the newssheet ont he lap and type it out"
"..Seventies and Eighties Music forms a large part of sales in the city(in general)..blah blah...Ilayaraja has always been a big seller .. and it's picked up after this BBC voting thing.."
Bang on, guys! That, as someone pointed out earlier in this thread, means atleast interest has been furthered on Raja as a result of this poll. Well, I would personally not care a damn for the results of this poll but this side-effect certianly makes me happy!
I was hellbent on not voting but I guess now I will(only once, though!)

Good.People across the border are out to prove that the common denominator is NOT MUSIC.Where is Runa Laila? She cant be far away.
IR fans - or ARR fans whoever does this shameful spam /bulk voting - You not only bring disrepute to IR/ARR but to music and the country as a whole.
Hey!Hey! I am very much here just enjoying our Eid holidays and a long weekend.
