Raagam:)
Pardon my ignorance... but isn't that partly the idea behind remix?... some DJ's have individuality and thus they manage to stamp their signature in their own way...but most of the remix's do use well know western songs but predominatly rap 'n hip-hop!

Kannan,
I knew that it was the whole idea but I had expected atleast some originality in that!!!!!!!!!!(And that itself appears to be a big mistake on my part)
Thanks Kannan anyway for the reply.

CHINNA_CHINNATHAI from mounam pesiyathai by hariharan & ?
Theendi Theendi from bala by uni & sujatha i think
poi_solla from april maathathil by ysr himself i think..and i think the song would have been better if he had given it to some othersinger.

thank god, atleast he uses SPB for some good number's (Mun Paniya, and now Kannil Gaanthamey),
Sabesan : Sorry to say this. For both the songs Mun paniyaa & Kannin Gaanthame, Yuvan wanted to use some other singer. Only upon Director & Producers' request/demand, he used SPB for those songs.

POI SOLLA INDHA MANADHUKKU THERIYAVILLAI I THINK IS THE BEST NUMBER THIS YEAR,APRIL MADATHIL,MOUNAM PESIYADHAE ,BALA,KADHAL SAMRAJYAM,HAS SOME AMAZING COMPOSITIONS,I THINK THE PACKAGING AND THE PERCUSSIONS USED IS ABSOLUTE BRILLIANCE,YSR IS MOVING FORWARD A BIG WAY,DID ANYONE NOTICE THE USE OF PERCUSSIONS IN YSR'S MUSIC,I THINK HES THE FIRST IN INDIA TO USE 15-16 PERCUSSION BEATS IN EACH SONG WITHOUT CHANGING THE TUNE AND MISLEADING IT.HE'S GETTING TO BE AMAZING WITH EACH MOVIE

NagaS I noticed that Bhavatharini has made a comeback in YSR's movie after a long tine in PP. I think YSR is showing great maturity in not giving a song to his sister in every novie, because he knows the respose people have to her singing. This is a good move on YSR's part, however I see he has used Shalini once again and also Prasanna whom I was deeply disappointed with in April Maathathil.I found Shalini to be a slightly more mature version of Bhavatharini and I found Prasanna to be a cheaper version of Anupama. I hope YSR choses better singers for his forthcoming projects.

Raagam,
PP songs sound very impressive - less modern beats and tunes are lively ( god only knows the number of 'beatings' Im going to get for making this statement :-)
Will write a detailed review after couple of more listenings !

NagaS,
I have to agree. PP is very impressive. It is not as modern as YSR's usual stuff, and I feel it will be a big hit. I especially like the song that YSR has sung. This is also the song that he has starred in for the video, and I am anxious to see the video.
Also the Harini , Devan song is very catchy and Lyrics will be appreciated. Thillakaney Gana is a Baila song so lot of youngsters will like this song. Srinivas song is great but Prasanna does not quite suit for this song. Shalini has sung what could have been a really great song, apart from the fact that she is singing it.
Surprisingly, the Bhavatharini song is also a favourite of mine. After not hearing her in YSR's music for some time, she has made a good effort for this song.
This album is very good, and I will also post a detailed review.

Another ordinary album, YSR seems way too busy to concentrate on producing an all-round product. Though he looks like quite a favourite of a no. of producers/directors judging by his solo photo appearance in the sleeve notes of all his recent releases.
1 'Venus Pennae' - would probably have sounded better if anyone other than Pazhanibarathi had written it. This guy is trying to go one-up on VM in writing what he thinks is 'cool and trendy' lyrics, but ends up sounding like a bad hardware designer's nightmare. Less said about Devan the better, but then this is a song for the 'hip' as they see it, so...
2 Thillakeni Gaana
YSR's clear weakness is in making a gaana or any dappanguthu song, he's been out of sorts from the first time he tried it. Needs intensive coaching from Deva. Very ordinary lyrics, esp. the charaRam sounds anything but 'gaanaish', shows that Pa. Vijay clearly is out of sorts in the milieu that the gaana is supposed to reflect. Karthik and Tippu compound the misery
3 Vaanam Thoovum Poomazhaiye
The best song of the album, obvious in its placement on either side. Very short (2 lines) charaNams, but blend nicely with the pallavi with good choral support and orchestration. From his debut 'Eera Nila' (Aravindan), YSR has shown a marked skill in composing soft duets. I wish he does more of this often where he ranks right up there with ARR and VS of the current crop. Harish has done well, can't still say much about Kovai Ranjini though the rarity of a thamizh singer is welcome
4 En Uyir melae
Could have been better, even a very good song, if anyone other than Bhava had sung. After a long gap, YSR uses Bhava and this should convince him that the gap was closed far too early
5 Oru Poonkili
Features some neat rhythm movements, but Prasanna sounds ordinary. I don't want to sound too biased against Pazhanibarathi, so..
6 En kaathal
No patch on 'Ithu kaathala' from TI, nevertheless sounds ok on the percussion, groove side. YSR must consider limiting his singing, hasn't got a grip on 'na' and 'Na' yet. He sounds better in English though, atleast in this song
7 Siragaagip pOnathe
8 Jogging seyyum
These are by now template songs for YSR, every album has one. Perhaps a very imaginative director can bring it out well on screen, but intrinsic worth - timepass songs with short memory recall
IMO, this album is no patch on 'Mounam Pesiyathe' whose 'Chinna Chinnathai/Kannil Kaanthame' double is a superb piece of work, something that really impressed me after 'manmatha maasam'. The way he has handled Hariharan and SPB to sing the solo and the duet in varying emotions shows good maturity and creativity. MP is a must buy for these 2 songs alone.
Admittedly, YSR doesn't have the luxury of time, but he hasn't produced (2) back-to-back albums that you can call good all-round, but this has been a feature of all current MDs. I think only KR has pulled it off recently with DDD and Album, whether it's purely got to do with the time factor is arguable..
My recommendation: PP, not a great buy for just one very good song.

This guy is putting out some interesting songs I must say... I like the beats... the drum-ish kinds... very strange, very awesome!
"Enkannai pidungi kol penney" is the best from Bala... and also poo poovai punnagaikum ival is pretty good too.
"Ehy nanbaney kobam kollathey" is the best from Mounam Pesuthey
and... "Ehy nenjaey, en nenjey" is the best from... April maathathil... neat stuff

suresh (@ 202.88.155.34),
Thanks for your detailed review ...
You didnt' like 'oru poongiLi' ? Its one of my fav. songs in this album :-)
And I really doubt if Harini sang the 'venus peNNee' song ... For me, the female voice sounds like mathangi ...

NagaS,
I too had that doubt. It does not sound like Harini at all. The Siraagi POnathe song and Jogging song were not sung well apart from the portions sung by Ganga. Like I said earlier, YSR's choice of female singers for this album has been his worst to date. Otherwise the album would have been a great hit. Kovai Ranjani is average, but Prasanna and Shalini are terrible.
