that reminds me,a friend of mine said that i can buy a good midi keyboard and sound modules instead of going for synth like korg, since you can always add more sound modules
what do you guys say,are you using midi keyboard with sound modules.
comment your suggestions are most welcome
I worked around the cost it comes to same roughly around the same as synth

No Rjay
I havent bought karma.
I had to post pone it due to budget reasons,
in the meanwhile this idea of using midi keyboard with sound modules came up,one of my friend is using roland sound modules with midi and he says it is very nice
PS thanks for pointing,i will clear that info abt karma from my site

UV,
Roland modules are very good for a <1K price range. Korg is real good sound source. Another versatile synth (even more capable) is Kurzweil.
I find that for my level of proficiency SBLive
synth gives me good results and bigger keyboard would be overkill!

Aditya,
This is the first time, I am listening to one of your compositions.
Listened to your "Parade of Ragas" composition. Theme is well stated. Rhythm is pretty good. The lead Strings melody needs harmonic support. Sounds more like a Vadya Vrinda where all instruments play the same melody in unison. It fails to keep up with the brilliant Guitar, Castanet start. May be a different instrument might help. The transitions are smooth.
Keep it up. Expecting more work from you.

Sridhar:
Thanks for your Comments. I wanted it to sound as close as possible to the music in typical oldie style -I had several ways of arranging and programming this music. Some of the carnatic Gamakas in the Mohana part were achieved only with the combination of string instruments - that was a big challenge as far as the programming goes. I had almost 3 versions of arrangements for this piece, out of which I selected this one. Other two were with Western + Eastern style of arrangement which sounded like a proper filmy score - good but I was not satisfied. Let me open up those two, let's see if you feel the same.
BTW, I should not have written like "See the Details" which were added for beauty - Look what happened, bb looked too deep into the details that the background string runs ( bcos of prg mistake ):-)) Sometimes keeping quiet is better isn't it?
Anyway thanks for reviewing the composition.
Regards,
Aditya

Aditya,
"Mythological Hero" sounds great.

Thanks Sridhar - I am a big fan of "Misra Chapu" thalam. When I play veena somehow I used to be excited to play "Prakkala Nilabadi" in Kharaharapriya or "Nidu Charanamule" in SimhendraMadhyamam. Both were set in Misra Chapu.
From childhood I was a big fan of Mythological Movies because of the music. When I moved into making of music, the obvious theme was mythology and it was set in Misra Chapu and so I made "Mythological Hero" theme.
BTW, I heard your work in Misra Chapu - Very Impressive. I used to wonder how you programmed it. Later I learnt (ofcourse learning always) how to make those things programmed.

Aditya

Srikanth:
Wedding Ritual song is Mellifluos. Very nice orchestration. I liked in the interludes you phrased with Clavi following Strings. In the charanam after vijay sings two lines, you bring up the same Clavi phrase that was used in the interludes making listeners expect that the same melodious string phrase follows, but there you surprised with a melliflous vocal phrase bringing the subtle beauties of "GowriManohari" raagam or may be Peel raaga. Specially in the second interlude, there was a very casual phrase played with the strings.
Vijay's vocal was a real asset to this song. Excellent Coordination. Unfortunately I am not a Tamil literate though I listen to lot of Tamil Songs - May be Udhaya did excellent job in that other it cannot sound so good to ears.
There's something special about your music - but I am sure that it was not because of your great electronic gadgets alone.

Aditya

aditya, thanks for the comments,
you had made very good observation of the score,
there are few things we do but often goes unnoted.
and yes i have used Gowri manohari., there is guitar counter over these lines,
In the first bgm did you hear the cello counters over the lead strings, vocodors for pallavi repeat after 1st charanam.
also In the second charanam, check the lines
'vizigal' (meaning eyes), the sound pans in a half circle from right to left. they way actually the eyes moves..:)
once again thanks...

Srikanth:
Indeed I observed the guitar counter over the concluding line of the charanams. That really added good beauty. Actually in my posting I had mentioned about the strings in the interludes - that was really melodious - fantastic kick one would get out of it. Cello Counters are too good. Actually in the second charanam, you bring some nadaswaram kind of effect - that was very nice but too short, before even I felt it's good, it was suddenly terminated and you give lead to some other phrase. I felt like listening that effect for another measure as it was too good - Again I am not sure if that's how song has to be written.
Excellent song. Srikanth, this is the best song in your album. Looks like all the melodious snippets of music that you send us now and then would be in the making of a song later. I I remember hearing the flute phrases in your second interlude was sent to us to look at your experiments with flute sample. Good Strategy.
I feel you have learnt quiet a lot from the time you made classical funk, warrior etc., Today I see your music has more maturity - I don't want to mention the names but your music sounds someone like your role model in "quality" - but to me you're different and your music is certainly different from him:-))
Good Wishes...Keep doing good music.

Aditya

Just curious, whats this thread got to do with TFM!?

A Fan of Comment:
Good Question! When amateur composers comment in other threads about their likes and dislikes in TFM - they would use this thread to let other amateur composers and other music critics to understand what they mean - how they do it - by composing snippets of music or explaining their good observations. Well this thread addresses TFM indirectly.
Since you visited this thread - We consider that you're either an amateur composer or interested in listening to what the amateur composers say. If you're one of them...go ahead, we will listen to you...Welcome to this thread.

this is one (and probably only) sensible thread in tfmdf. fostering new talents is very important if we all want to drive out the copycats. for pete's sake listen to and appreciate original music. remember TRV? he is doing music for t.v. megaserials. he first shared his music here in the df. i am glad to see that the df admin has the correct mindset to allow this thread to go on without being cut of.
guys: i have request. can anyone of you compose a soothing piece to wake up our senses in early morning? i bored of listening to the dull drone of npr everyday :-)) most of icm/wcm are too heavy for early morning! (and the popm and tfm - no i don't want my spirits killed that early in a day :-) )
