"Navarasa Nayagan" Karthik songs

Karthik is one actor who has gotten great music in his films thanks mainly to Ilayaraja, but there are others like Bharadwaj, Shanker-Ganesh, etc., who also chip out their hits in a Karthik film. Here are Karthik's greatest songs -

1)Kadhal Oviyum - (Alaigal Oivathillai). Ilayaraja should have won a national award for this movie.
2)Saagara Sangammame - (Seethakoka Chiluka)- wondeful, underrated song
3)Kaalai Nera Kaatae - (Bhagavathipuram Railway Gate) an obscure, but brilliant song by IR
4)Vaa Vaa Anbe and Rajadhi Raja (Agni Natchathriam). Just fantastic
5)All songs in Varusham 16 - especially "Gangai Karai Manandi". IR can't be beaten in classical.
6)Paadi Parantha Killi - (Kizhakku Vaasal) - A sad song, but one that is brilliantly orchestrated.
7)All songs in "Abinandana(telugu)" - dubbed in tamil as "Kadhal Geetham" especially "Kangaliley Kanavo". Another album that deserved the national award for IR
8)Oru Kadhal Devadhai - (Idhaya Thamarai) Shanker-Ganesh's best soundtrack in my opinion. Almost sounded IR-like.
9)All songs in Gopura Vasalile - especially the classic "Kadhal Kavithaigal.."
10)Maniay Mani Kuyile - (Nadodi Thendral) - IR's last with Bharathiraja. What a way to go out.
11)Thendralae Kandu Kolla - (Nilave Mugam Kaatu) -another fantastic, underrated album from IR.

So, there are my picks. There are much more but I can't think of it now. Anyway, I like for you guys to add your favorite songs in Karthik's films.

  "Indru" songs are pretty good. Deva has a done pretty good job for a change. The song, by Harish Raghavender and Sujatha titled "Karthika.." is the best song.
  
  
  BTW Mani, I think Ilayaraja and SPB were the best singers for Karthik.

  Kavithaigal Sollava from Ullam Kollai Poguthey is very good especially the orchestra for the song. Hats off to Karthik Raja. Song sung by SPB and Sujatha. There is also a sad version of this song sung by Hariharan in the movie.

  one of the best lyrics i have ever heard...

  "Kavithaigal Sollava" was not sung by Karthik. I think it was sung by Prabhudeva in the movie, if I'm correct. In fact I don't think Karthik sung any songs in that movie. But I'm not sure. Maybe you guys can help...?

  The sad version of the song Kavithaigal Sollava was sung by Prabhu Deva. Another one was a duet sung by SPB and Sujatha and picturized on Karthik with the heroine.

  Paran, there were a lot of lyricists for "Harichandra". Arivumathi, Piraisoodan, Ravishankar and Vasan were the lyricists for the movie. "Harichandra" was a pretty good movie by director Cheyyar Ravi (if I'm correct) with good songs and wonderful BGM (sounds a little like ARR's BGM). I wonder what happened to the talented Agosh.

  Not very good nnv. From Deva, what else would you expect. "Seenu", incidentally, was a remake of the Malayalam classic "Bharatham", and boy was it poorly done. The songs were the worst aspect of "Seenu", by the way. A total waste of listening time.
  
  A Karthik film, by the way, with great songs in my opinion was the film "Pooveli". A good film with very good songs. "Oru Poo Ezhutham..." and "Ithakku Peyar.." were my favorites.

  Actually, the only good Karthik-Deva combination came in "Gokulathil Seethai". That was a wonderful movie by national-award winning director Agathiyan. The songs by Deva were also surprisingly pretty good.

  My favourite among Karthik starrers is En Jeevan Paduthu. The songs by Ilaiyaraja were very good.
  The famous one among all songs are Engiruntho Azhaikum by Lata Mangeshkar but other songs are also nice.

  Raj,there was a forum going on about En Jeevan Paduthu songs a few months ago. I think you can check it in the archieves. Katti vachiko and Orey Murai Un Tharisanam are pretty good songs. It is very rare to get this type of songs in movies nowadays. This songs are still remembered although the trend of music has changed.

  There was a very good song that Karthik sung for the film "Pooveli". It goes like "Kathai solla poraean, vidukathai solla poraen...". Karthik sung that song well.

  The songs in Amaran are "Mustafa" and "Vethalai potta" and Pistha "Kozhi Kari". There is also a song in Sisya "Appolo" and the song in Pooveli" -
  "Kathai Solla poraen" which is in the soundtrack but the song in the movie will have Bharadwaj's voice for Karthik's part. I don't know why they wasted the song by Karthik.

  Nilave Mugam Kaatu has very good numbers although the songs are quite slow. Thendralai Kandu kole, Vaigainathikarai, Chittu Parakuthu and Poongatre are all good.

  Can I add the song from Kathal Solla Vanthen "Shavina Shavina"? Actually this song is by Unnikrishnan but Karthik has some dialogues in this song. Anyway, all songs in that movie are good, only the movie is not released.

  A wonderful song, sung by Yesudas and Uma Ramanan, composed by IR that no one mentioned in this thread is the song "Thagamay Undanathay" from the Visu-directed film, "Getti Melam", starring Karthik and Sulakshana. I saw the movie last week (which wasn't a good movie, by the way) but had some nice numbers by IR with "Thagamay.." being the pick of the lot. You guys should defintely listen to it if you get a chance.

  The songs in "Mettukudi" were very good. I don't know whether the movie was a hit, but the songs are really good. Anbulla Mannavane, Adi Yaradhu, Manamadurai gundumalli, Indha Poonthendral, Velvetta and Saravanabhava ennum all are simply superb. Sirpi has done a good job in this movie after "Ullathai Alli Tha".

  Unakaga Ellam Unakaga songs by YSR are different from all the other songs from Karthik's movies. All songs are quite different with one another. The song "thuli thuli" and "Vennila" are slow but melodius. The songs "Cleopatra" and "Monalisa" are fast numbers. Hope Yuvan Shankar Raja will team up with Karthik again.

  Karthik has not stopped acting but his new movies are all delayed to the reason best known to his producers and himself. "Kashmir", "Indru" and "Dhilruba" are his forthcoming movies.

  "Aagaya Thamarai" is a wonderful song in the film "Nadodi Pattukaran" picturised on Karthik and Mohini. It's probably the best song in that movie sung beautifully by Ilayaraja himself.
