Again it's impressive. Did you know that I am addicted to your Piano Solos. As soon as I wake up, I wait what will be your new offerings...Go ahead. Enjoying coffee and your piano solos.
From this solo, I am totally convinced that IR has really been a world class Composer. Since his songs have to fit in the frame of tamil folk scenario, the orchestration have sometimes overshadowed the beauty of his WCM style - I am not saying they are not good but just taken a different shape. I don't hesitate to say that you reconstructed IR's original thought when he was composing. Thanks Naveen.

Aditya

Naveen,
You should exit all applications while recording. So that everything is done in-memory. Also, the best upgrade for your PC now would be more RAM !!!. If you are looking to replacing your PC I suggest a Notebook. There are powerful ones now (desktop replacements) which will do well for audio recording. You can for eg. carry them to a church with your UA-30 and voila you have a professional class recording (BTW, get better mics and preamps, the battery powered ones will give you ultra quite recording).
(Why is rAja kaiya vechchA different sounding than punnagai mannan ? )
Also, would you like your IR compositions showcased in raaga.com ? They will be happy to do that since it shows how much interest current musicians have in IR as a composer.

Thanks guys.. I'll start doing professional class recording soon. Piano has a wide frequency range. So good recording equipments counts a lot.
Kiru.. I played 'Raaja Kaiya Vechaa' in the same piano and same recording setup. May be this time, I did'nt add any reverb. Room ambience itself was good enough to get a natural reverb effect. BTW. I record at home.. not Church.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your feedback.
I'm invited to play piano (ofcourse Grand Piano!) for a flower show sometime next month. I have a 30 - 40 minutes time slot, and will be performing some Piano classics. I'm planning to play some melodious Tamil songs suitable for a flower show.
Can you guys suggest some good melodious songs? need not worry about lyrics. only the tune.
Thanks,
Naveen

I would suggest "Nee paartha..." from "Hey Ram!". I absolutely love the tune (I guess you can't say the same about the lyrics, but since you're only going to be playing it on the piano, it should be perfectly alright), especially the intro.

BTW I happened to meet friends from my college here - we had a band that played rock...so we are doing 1/2 rock and 1/2 national theme songs. I hope we will raise good money...

Naveen,
The sound is more fuller now. As though the new microphones have more bottom end response. BTW, what brand are these microphones. Re: reverb. There are 3 ways -
1) Record only with natural ambience (for eg. in a cathedral).
2) Record in a studio or a completely dead room and add artifical reverb.
3) Record with room reverb + artifical reverb.
Bad studio/home recordings involuntarily fall into #3. But pro rec. engineers can do #3 very well. They have close mic recordings + some mics to pick up the 'venue acoustics'. This is kind of preferred in Classical music recordings.
So you want to be in #2. For this you may have to make sure your room is completely 'dead' or 'dry' (industry slangs, I guess). The cheapest way is rugs on wall or better yet, those mattress pads on wall. These pads are used on top of mattress under the fitted sheets. They look like small hills. I hope you get what I mean.
Anyways, keep those recordings coming.I am listening to it now and then and really enjoy them.

Aditya,
Thanks for your comments. I'm very very glad that you like my playing style... :)
Kiru,
I live in an apartment and I don't know whether I can try your 2nd choice. I'll try my best. The mic I bought is Shure SM-81 Condensor Microphone. I went thro many reviews & found that this is one of the best mics for Acoustic Piano Recording. I could notice lot of difference in recording. Let me add some artificial reverb and try again.

naveen to make the condenser work at his best, get hold of a tube based pre amp with phantom power. 50% goes to the mic and 50% to the preamp., I have invested on a good tube based preamp, i was able to see a huge difference in the sound quality with the preamp.
